The apartment was clean well maintained & in a touristy area of christ church. 5 minute walking distance of the beach and is surrounded by several other vacation rental properties which i will stay at when i return to barbados.
I love this area of barbados and was really looking forward to staying at this apartment. The kitchen, and bathroom were clean and well maintained , Tv was great , we enjoyed using the pool.
The complex was noisy, sleeping in until 8 am, is impossible, as the maid and the owners are very noisy calling out to one another, construction noise.
Clarence the owner was nice when i booked the place on the net, , however was moody and rude during the stay. Another tennant also mentioned her bad experience with him. For, example he complained about us using the Air conditioner , and having the lights on in the apartment while we were home in the day and told us about a token system which is not listed here.
He berated me about the fact that i had 'stained' one of his white towels with my foundation - and then charged me $60 dollars for it. Stating that he only brings towels back from England- the towel was an old thin towel that was not worth $60. I have stayed at many hotels and they simply wash their towels with bleach, which is something he does not do. I found this rude and insulting .
He treated us as though we were staying at his place for free, and were not paying customers.
Customer service was very poor from the owner.
Some notes :
The mini bar fridge is not large enough to store food if you are going to purchase your food for the stay.
This place does not allow you to have non registered vistors stay the night- as they are always monitoring . ( i did not have anyone i wanted to spend the night)
There is no landline in the apt , although he issued a wireless phone you have to go out and buy a card at a local place this is inconvient especially if you are new to the area, and he only issued the phone when i asked him.
I understand that people have different personalities, and i am very friendly and easy to get along with, however i found Clarence the owner to be rude, and unappreciative of his tenants, and needs many lessons in customer service.
Minus the owner, this is relatively decent place to stay. However you will always have to deal with is posturing and treating you as though he is doing you a favour by allowing you to stay at his apartment.
Owner's Response: It is impossible to please everyone and it is nice to get some negative poblicity sometime.
However we try to keep our cost down and if tenant damage property as in the case of this tenant 2 towels and 1 pillow case then I reserve the right to charge them for the damage. There are notices in the apartment telling you of this. The incident of the light was simply us thinking that the tenant was out for the day and we went to switch off the light on 1 occasion. As for being noisy we had an event on 1 sunday and the music finish at midnight again 1 incident the tenant was inform before the event.
The smallest fridge in our apartments are 3feet by 2 feet in size and are not mini fridges.The apartment that this tenant stay in has no air condition metering system and nothing was said to the tenant concerning A/C.
We do not allow non registered guest staying over night for security reasons, however as we rent by apartments and not per person there no reason why tenant the cannot inform us about there guest. We have had a number of theft from the apartment and the rule is for the tenant well being. As for myself I live in the UK and will be leaving Barbados at the end of march.
I believe the bottom to this complaint is base on the tenant having to pay $60 for a towel, and $18 for medicine to treat a sore throat by myself, so much for being unfriendly.
