Eguilles Vacation Rental villa: Aix en Provence

Our family consists of two adults, a 20yr old daughter at university and a 17yr old son still at school. We all get on but need our own space.

We chose this property because it was spacious inside the house, good bedrooms and spacious outside in various parts of the garden which is on different levels so that we would not be on top of each other. It also has a good sized pool which was very important to us but has very little shallow end (I would be nervous with young children or non-swimmers as the pool is hidden from the house. The owner did advise that they had some form of alarm). The pool was our focus on days that we remained at the property and we looked forward to returning for a refreshing dip after days out in 30 degrees or so. The garden really does have different seating areas for different times of the day. Excellent semi-covered bbq area with good sized gas bbq, sink, fridge is by the pool. Eating areas in 3/4 different parts of the garden one of which is in a conservatory area in case it's chilly or even raining.

The property is very tastefully decorated and is comfortable with dining area, living area, tv/reading area. Good tv and dvd player. Owner was unsuccessful in connecting our laptop to internet access.
Situated on a hillside with lovely views. Interesting for morning walks. Lovely hilltop village about 25mins nice walk or 5 mins drive. Good butchers, boulangeries, cremerie, fruit and veg shop and everyone we met was extremely welcoming. Useful tourist information office.
An excellent Geant Casino hypermarket about 15 mins drive towards Aix.

The short hillside roads to the property are quite narrow as is the entrance to the property and driving a large vehicle such as a people carrier can be tricky but not impossible.

We didn't want to limit ourselves to a 'beach holiday' and the property is only about 35 mins from Marseilles and the coast, 15/20mins from Aix-en-Provence centre and interesting places such as Arles, Avignon, Cassis are very accessible. Weather was excellent and the pool beckons after a trip out!
Extremely relaxing. Although there are a number of properties built on the hillside we were not aware of any intrusive noise.
Aix is very accessible for concerts or theatre etc and we were even able to join in with our little village's celebrations of Bastille Day with fireworks and dancing afterwards.
