SPACIOUS STUDIO WITH TERRACE IN LOVELY AREA CLOSE TO CENTER

Aix-En-Provence Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Aix en Provence, founded by the Romans attracted to its thermal springs, is a beautiful university town a half hour north of Marseille and an hour and a half west of Cannes. In opinion polls it has more than once been voted on by French people as the town they would most like to live in.

It has immense charm, outstanding historic architecture, wonderful sunny weather, lively markets, great foods (hundreds of restaurants), hearty wine, and a large international community. It is large enough to be cosmopolitan and small enough to be human. For music lovers there is a world-class opera festival every July.

The studio is at road level in a gate house on a property with beautiful Provencal vegetation located in one of the loveliest areas of Aix in a calm, country setting only two miles from the center of town (easy walking distance). It is in the north-east sector of the town, which is the side which has been protected from development. There is bus service into town about 700 meters from the property. If you walk a half hour in one direction, you are on the beautiful, historic, and lively Cours Mirabeau, the Champs Elysees of Aix and one of the most famous boulevards in France. If you walk in the other direction, you have a peaceful and lovely country experience. Many guests have used this for jogging and hiking.

The apartment is spacious and tastefully furnished. It contains a sleeping area with a queen-sized bed and large closet, a marble bathroom with a shower and washing machine. There is a sectional couch with TV in the living area, and a completely equipped kitchen (with dishwasher, 2-door refrigerator with roomy freezer, micro-wave, induction burners and oven), and a dining area with table and chairs. Guests can eat outside in the good weather on a charming adjoining terrace.

The apartment is light and bright, and was recently redone. All linens, cooking ware, and dishes are provided. There is a parking area which can accomodate a compact to medium-sized car.

Keywords: Large, attractively furnished studio, all amenities, wifi, parking, quiet, peaceful, semi-country setting, near center, terrace, walks, jogging, spacious, queen-sized bed, full kitchen, well-equipped, nature.

Why The Owner chose Aix-En-Provence

Please consult this section of listing #5958 (the gate house on the same property) for more information about how I came to be here and my reasons for loving Aix and my property in particular. I would hope that you will come and love it as much as I do.

What makes this studio unique

It is rare to find a studio apartment of this quality and size in Aix, particularly in this part of town with its large properties, beautiful environment, and lovely Provencal vegetation. It is in the north-east sector of the city, the side which has been protected from the development, that has characterized other areas. There is bus service into town about 700 meters from the property, but one can walk to the Cours Mirabeau in a little over a half hour or hike instead in the other direction to enjoy nature and the countryside. It is like having the country in the city.

Lovely studio in Aix-en-Provence

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week here and it was a good place to explore Provence from. We've stayed in many VRBO apartments and cottages and this place by far was the best equipped. I could have had a dinner part for 12! Kathleen is absolutely charming and the place was immaculately clean and comfortable.

Great studio!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just returned from a great week in Aix en Provence at this wonderful studio apartment.
Kathleen, the owner, is a lovely, accommodating person who met us on schedule, showed us around the apartment and answered all of our questions. We loved the location which is about 2 miles from the city center which is easily accessible. I would describe the area as very upscale with beautiful homes and large, landscaped, stone terraced yards. Walking up the hill away from town you will see a lovely area that eventually reaches a stone tower dating from around 1500. There are great views of the surrounding mountains.
The apartment itself is clean, spacious and exactly as represented. The kitchen has all kinds of utensils for cooking and the appliances are modern and easy to operate. We did use the washing machine and it operated beautifully. Bed is comfortable. Shower is great. Wifi worked perfectly. We didn't actually eat outside on the patio as it was still a little cool while we were there, however, it would have been nice to have done so.
We enjoyed our stay here very much and would not hesitate to stay again. It is a great location from which to explore the surrounding areas.
And, last but not least, the price is a bargain! Thank you Kathleen.

Lovely, convenient setting

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week in this apartment and found it the perfect home base for exploring Provence by car. After a day sightseeing it was wonderful to come back to this peaceful, secluded spot and enjoy the terrace. There is a grocery store and bakery conveniently located just at the bottom of the hill and we liked being able to have our own breakfast and occasional dinner when we didn't feel like heading out again. The old town of Aix is about 10 minutes away and the parking garages convenient to leave your car and explore this beautiful town on foot. Kathleen is a wonderful host and couldn't have been more helpful during our stay.

Quiet, Comfortable Studio near Aix-en-Provence

  • 4 of 5
We very much enjoyed our stay at the studio during April 2012. It was very clean, well appointed, and accurately portrayed in the description and pictures. The kitchen has modern, high-end appliances and the large walk-in shower was wonderful. The queen-size bed was very comfortable. The TV, DVD player, and DVD's were a definite plus, as was the washing machine and wireless internet. Very quiet and private. Parking spot was suitable for our small rental car. The apartment more than filled our needs as a base of operations for exploring the beautiful countryside of Provence. Easy walk into Aix, although we would not recommend doing that at night due to the dark, narrow roads. Easy access to nearby grocery store, bakery, and restaurants. Kathleen, the proprieter, was friendly and helpful; as an ex-pat American, she speaks perfect English. Actually, we would have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know her better. The only downside is that the apartment is somewhat damp, which could easily be fixed with an portable dehumidifier. We would definitely recommend the apartment to friends/family and would give strong consideration to returning ourselves on our next visit to Provence.

Surpassed our expectations.

  • 5 of 5
These days few places are AS ADVERTISED, however, we where delighted when we arrived at Kathleen's studio as it more than surpassed our expectations.

This is one case where the pictures do not do the accommodation justice, The studio is actually a lot more spacious than the photos would indicate.

The large slider that opens onto a garden patio ads to the ambiance and you will find all the amenities you could possibly need.

Apart from the full size fridge there is also a dishwasher and a washer dryer. The space is beautifully decorated and in pristine condition.

There is also every manner of small appliance and utensil to satisfy even the most demanding cook !

The apartment is located just on the outskirts of town so there is no issue with parking and no traffic noise !

We would certainly highly recommend this studio apartment to anyone looking for accommodation in AIX.

Our time in Aix has been everything we had hoped for and more. Much of the reason for this has been our lovely apartment at 565 Mas de Cabrettes. This is a light, high-ceilinged and peaceful place. We awaken each morning to the song birds, relax on a remarkably private terrace, enjoy our walks to town along the flowered lane. The kitchen is well-equipped, the space perfect for a couple. We also had space for visitors while here. Kathleen is a lovely neighbor. She helped when we needed it and she didn't intrude at all. We consider her a friend. My advice, if you've gotten this far: rent the place.
