Some of the country's most impressive arquitecture, historical and religious sites can be found in this region, in the center of Portugal. On the coastline, nearly empty beaches mix with quaint fishing towns and villages, of which Nazaré is one of the finest examples; inland, fertile country stretches along the banks of rivers like the Tagus, producing livestock and crops from grapes to fruit and rice. Coimbra, the birthplace of six kings and the seat of the country's oldest university, fascinates with its historical associations, and nearby you can visit the largest escavated Roman site in Portugal, Conímbriga. Further north, the city of Aveiro, once a great sea harbour, still carries the charm of its canals and lagoon, known as 'the ria'. Not far from Lisbon, the ancient city of Leiria, with its fortified castle built early in the 12th century, is a good base from which to visit the great abbeys of Batalha and Alcobaça and the well known shrine of Fátima.

In a quiet neighborhood,a beautifully furnished light and airy modern semi-detached villa which has been built and decorated to a really high standard. Less than 3 mins away walking are one of the golden sandy beaches of Figueira da Foz. For shopping, clubs, bars and restaurants, you have everything at 10 mn walking. There is a a very beatiful garden wiht 700 sqm equiped with barbecue. This peaceful location has no through traffic and is therefore very safe for children. Nearest airport is OPorto airport which is around 1 12 drive away, but the ariport of Lisbon is at almost the same distance. The train station is Figueira da Foz, 20 mn walking from the house. Use of a car is recommended but not at all essential. 200 meters from the beach, 500 meters from the city center (with casino, bars, discos, ...) , 1km from the river, 20 kms from lakes, 40 kms from Coimbra, 70 kms from Aveiro, 120 kms from Porto, 170 kms from Lisbon.
