Set upon the slopes of the Sierra de Los Filabres which lead down to the beautiful secluded beaches and coves on the Anduluthian coast line is the villa Las Sasosa in these wonderful peaceful surroundings. Las Sasosa is an old farmhouse which has been lovingly restored to its original country charm. It is furnished with a perfect fusion of contemporary and rustic, set against hand cast terracotta tiles, whitewashed walls, shuttered windows and beamed willow ceilings. Experience the wild beauty of Spain from the villa, with the private terrace, pool and barbecue. The nearby rugged coastline presents handfuls of secluded beaches and coves that can be explored in solitude, especially in off peak seasons. More popular beaches are still relatively undiscovered around the area of mojacar playa and the quaint spanish town of Garrucha.

The terrace at the villa gives views of the mountains and valleys of the Sierra de los Filabres. The surrounding area, as you travel from the village, is rural Spain with olive farms and fruit plantations, set amongst rugged and mountainous terrain. A great “get away from it” location for an enjoyable, peaceful holiday. Nearby is the small resort of Mojacar Playa, with sandy un-crowded beaches, friendly beach bars, shops and restaurants. Up into the hills is Mojacar Pueblo (old Mojacar) a quaint trational town with many Tapas bars and restaurants hidden amongst the cobbled twisty streets. Drive a little further south along the coastline to find some quieter secluded beaches. Other good beaches and resorts include the fishing village at Garrucha and Vera. The nearest villages of Bedar and Antas also provide shops and resaurants. The area has three golf courses, horse riding, diving, and many other attractions and places.

Notes: Outside: The villa has its own private terrace area and pool, overlooking mountain scenes. The terrace is split over two levels: the lower level has an infinity pool, an outside shower and sun loungers. The upper level is an extention to the villa with a terrace room. This room is covered providing shade from the sun, yet the side walls are open so that one can feel as if outside. Within the room is a barbecue, dining table and lounge seating, somewhere to sit to eat and relax. Ground Level: The villa is at ground level, the front door opens into a large open-plan living space. Within this room there are two comfortable seating areas, one with a log burner and a large hand made oak dining table and benches to seat eight. The traditional Mediterranean style kitchen is next to the main living space. And from the kitchen there is direct access to the Terrace room. The layout and style of the villa suits families, large groups as well as the romantic couple!

Golf: Valle del Este: An 18 hole golf course, 5,696 meters, par 71, located in Vera, about 15 minutes from Mojacar. The course utilises the desert landscape, making play challenging and scenic. Highly recommended by golfing visitors to the area. Desert Springs ‘indiana’: A new 18 hole golf course, 6,173 meters, par 72, located 15/20 minutes from Mojacar. Designed by Peter McEvoy, the successful Walker Cup captain, the course is the first desert course to be built in Europe, rivalling any of the famous desert courses in Arizona or California. This is a course destined to become one of the finest golf resorts in the world. Very highly recommended by golfing visitors to the area. Marina de la Torre: An 18 hole golf course, 5,464 meters, par 72, located opposite Mojacar Playa’s beach. The course combines flat fairways adjacent to the sea, 3 lakes and rugged mountainous terrain.

My Partner and I rented this fabulous villa mid July 2009 and had a wonderful time. Yes there is easy access to the beaches, tourist trail and various other activities if you so desire, but that was not what our holiday was all about. We were looking for a peaceful piece of rural Spain, away from the hustle and bustle of city life and tourists and this certainly delivered. The villa itself is beautifully decorated with the perfect combination of all the mod-cons to ensure your holiday is complete luxury, yet keeping the rustic charm to feel like a real get away destination. However the best part of this villa is certainly the location, bedded into a mountain side you are surrounded by nothing but country side, glorious sunshine and the odd bird or mountain goat, which you can while away the hours watching from the wonderful pool.

The only possible draw back of this villa is that you will need a car as there is nothing on your doorstep, but once you have stocked up on essentials from any of the neighboring villages part of the charm is leaving them behind to return to your secret hideaway, not to be disturbed until you choose to venture out again!
