Overview

Canmore Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms w/ Queen Beds + Queen Sofa Bed, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Quote from my Guest Book: 'Beautiful and relaxing holiday! Your condo looked beautiful on the internet and was pleasantly surprised that it was even nicer once here...wonderful holiday!' (Coquitlam, BC)

Nestled just 15 minutes outside of Banff, this tastefully decorated, 1,000 sq. ft., two-bedroom, two-bath condominium features a large formal entry way, a bright, open lounge and dining area boasting hardwood floors, river rock gas fireplace with log mantle, leather sofa set, Canadian heritage antiques, 'rustic' decorative lamps, original mountain artwork, and Mackenzie tartans throughout. There is also a deck that provides spectacular views of the protected wetlands, Aspens, creek and surrounding peaks, including the famous 'Three Sisters.'

The building is located across from a protected wetland habitat, at the edge of Policeman's Creek with meandering boardwalk. With unobstructed views of pretty much nature only, you get the feeling of wilderness seclusion, yet are only a less than 5 minute walk from conveniences of the quaint, yet cultural alpine town of Canmore.

In the living room for your relaxation and entertainment are a television with basic cable, VCR, stereo system, and CD player. And the balcony off of the living room not only provides spectacular trees, creek and mountain views, it also provides a teak bistro set, and a large gas barbecue to fire up that world famous Alberta beef!

The large, fully-equipped, modern kitchen contains tiled floors, dishwasher, microwave, a refrigerator, and cupboards stocked with various condiments, cookbooks, and just about every tool the gourmet chef in you would need to create a fabulous meal.

The spacious, yet cozy master bedroom contains a queen-size bed with rustic log headboard and two closets, while the second bedroom contains a queen-size bed and one large closet. In addition, there is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room, allowing for a maximum occupancy of six people (rates based on four-person occupancy). Both bedrooms contain high-quality eyelet lace bed sheets, duvets and pillows, as well as vintage bedroom furniture, 'rustic' decorative lamps, original mountain artwork, Mackenzie tartan throw pillows and scarves, and plush berber carpet. The master en suite contains a shower stall, while the second bathroom located in the hallway contains a bathtub/shower combination - quality towels provided in each.

The hallway contains a built-in bookshelf brimming with various paperback books and hard cover coffee table books featuring Canadian and Rocky Mountain art, all of which can be enjoyed while taking in the fresh mountain air on the balcony by day, or cozying up next to the warm fire at night. Also provided for your enjoyment with friends and family are various board games and decks of cards.

The condominium has a large storage room containing a washer and dryer, iron and ironing board, a picnic knapsack (to take on hikes), fans, first aid kit, and various cleaning supplies. Also provided for your convenience is a heated underground garage.

Tasteful rustic, Canadian heritage decor and high-end comfort have been given priority at Mackenzie Creekside. The original mountain artwork done by the owner and her father as well as other Alberta artists, in additional to the Mackenzie tartans and Canadian heritage family photos, help to create a sense of 'home-away-from-home' beckoning you to return to Mackenzie Creekside to visit the majestic Canadian Rockies...

About Leanne Mackenzie

I'm originally from Calgary and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1994. I worked for a large medical device company by day and volunteer as a graphic designer/webmaster/events committee member for the Nine Lives Foundation - a no-kill cat shelter in the Bay Area. But I missed the Canadian Rockies so much that I decided to purchase a vacation condo in Canmore and visit the area ~2x/year. It's such an AMAZING part of the world that I can't get enough of! So much so that I recently moved back to Calgary to be closer to my family and start my own creative services business... :-) www.mackenziecreativeservices.com

Leanne Mackenzie purchased this condo in 2001

Why Leanne Mackenzie chose Canmore

I've always envisioned myself owning a log cabin in the middle on nowhere, but unfortunately, that just isn't feasible (for many reasons). I learned of 'The Boardwalk' building and that most of the condos face the protected wetlands, creek, and mountains, including the famous 'Three Sisters'. I bought the condo sight-unseen because it was the only condo available with that kind of unobstructed views of nature only. You get the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere, but are yet a 2-10 minute walk from just about everything you need. I decorated the condo to have a rustic cabin-like ambiance, so between the views and the convenient location, it's the best of both worlds!

What makes this condo unique

Located just off of the downtown so walking distance to most town amenities but with views of pretty much nature only... most other condo developments have views of busy streets, parking lots, grocery stores, other condos, etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We appreciated this very comfortable condo -- its layout, decor, "cheat sheet", beautiful balcony, and was quiet.

A Perfect Choice

  • 5 of 5
This condo is exactly as advertised. It's beside a lovely creek with a boardwalk along it that is perfect for an evening walk. It was within walking distance to several great restaurants.
We felt the security was excellent and the condo had everything we needed. We visited 4 national parks and two provincial parks while we were there and the free park pass was very much appreciated. We would highly recommend this condo!

A great location

  • 5 of 5
We've stayed at this condo during the last 3 summers. It's a great location, near Banff, and in a wonderful town. We were lucky enough, one year, to be in town for the Canmore Folk Festival.

This year we brought our bikes and discovered some of the great bike paths near the condo. It was a wonderful week and the condo has begun to feel like another place to call home.

Beautiful condo in a spectactular town!

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed in this terrific condo 3 times in the past 5 years. We love the unit, it feels like our own when we come back!
One time it was just the 2 of us, another time with a second couple and during the third we had friends with their 2 youngsters stay a couple of nights with us. They all raved about the location, comfort and cleanliness.
Canmore is an amazing town in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. The condo location is very convenient, easy walk to downtown, grocery stores, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. The address is Railway Drive, but it was very quiet during each visit: no train, no traffic and no people noise. We could sleep with the window open for the fresh mountain air and it was peaceful.
The condo was always ready when we arrived, spotless and well equipped! We highly recommend it and can’t wait for our next visit!

Great condo

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in the condo for 5 nights with another couple from Australia. The unit was perfect for what we required. Lots of space compared to any hotel room. The unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and comes with lots of extra's. Such as some basic items needed for meal preparations, a park pass (which saved us $100), internet access, indoor parking, great security system, etc, etc. The unit comes fully equipped with a full kitchen, laundry, and barbique. The location is within a few minutes walk to the downtown area as well as a large grocery store. We stayed on the September long weekend so Canmore is a great home base and we avoided the crowds that were in Banff.
Banff and Lake Louise are also within a short drive and perfect for day trips.
Would recommend to anyone and would rebook next time we are in the Canmore/Banff area.
Thanks Leanne for all the assistance in booking which was very simple with no issues.

A lovely place to enjoy Canmore

  • 5 of 5
We heard back from the condo owner within hours of sending an inquiry, and that set a precedent for all communication with Leanne!
We found the condo exactly as advertised: roomy, tasteful and well-stocked, and enjoyed the freedom of cooking breakfast and dinner in the kitchen.
Although I was wary of noise with a pub and restaurant right underneath the condo (and a train track nearby) we found it quiet and enjoyed a great night's sleep each night.
Highly recommended.

False advertisement in regards to this condo

  • 1 of 5
The condo itself was okay. Although, traveling from the United States to get to this condo was a 16 hour day landing in Calgary and then the drive to this condo with an early snow storm to discover the condo owner does not provide a bar of bath soap!!!! We had to use Dawn dish soap our first night in to shower. We did not know that there would be restaurants directly below to the right of the deck....resulting in noise all hours of the night with music and patrons sitting on the patio along with employees coming out in groups for smoke breaks conversing in conversation with one another. The view??? There is NO view as it shows in the photographs. You are literally closed off with aspen trees. If you stuck a broom handle out over the deck you can touch the branches of these trees. That is how close they are to the decks at these condos. A WALL of TREES shutting off any and all views!!! The mountains.......if it is winter and the leaves are off you can see the mountains as photograph shows....but still a small view. If you look real close and strain your eyes you can see 5 feet of the boardwalk and around a foot of the water but if you didn't know it was there you would never know to look. The deck was as wide as taking normal 2 1/2 steps. The gas grill takes up 1/3 of the deck. Two people can not go out on the deck at the same time because there is not enough room. The hair dryer would shut off on high......the bed pillows were so thin and cheep along with the linen. The master shower has 15 streams of water coming out of the shower head....therefore it is not useable. Thankful that the spare bathroom shower head worked. The master bed actually sits on the floor. There was not any peace or tranquility staying at this place. Never slept the entire 7 days there....noise, noise, and more noise.

Owner's Response: In the 12 years I've been renting out my condo to guests from all over the world & receiving stellar reviews via my condo guestbook, personal e-mails, and personal condo website's Testimonials page, it's a complete shock that I received this unwarranted Review. My Welcome Packet that all guests receive state that should they have any issues during their to stay to contact me and/or my mgmnt team so that we may promptly address it. Not once did we receive a call or e-mail during or after this guest's stay!:

SOAP: The condo is always supplied with a filled liquid body soap dispenser on each of the bathrooms vanities that guests may take into the shower with them to use. There's now an additional liquid body soap dispenser in the bathtub & shower stall.

NOISE: Canmore has a by-law in which the next door restaurant's patio must be closed to patrons by 11p. If staff conversations are bothersome, guests may close the windows & turn on the ceiling fan which helps to mitigate any outside disturbances.

VIEWS: If one prefers views of busy roads, parking lots, gas stations, grocery stores, other condo building, train tracks, construction, etc. as many of my competitors' views have, then I understand why the views of trees & nature only would upset them. Some of the view photos on my website were taken from the balcony in the winter when there were no leaves on the trees so the surrounding mountains are more visible, as is the case for 7-8 months of the year.

BALCONY: The balcony is a standard size for a condo development. 4 to 5 average size adults can easily be on the balcony together.

HAIRDRYER: I do not make reference that hairdryers are provided for my guest's use. A former guest may leave their hairdryer behind, but I do not advertise that one is available.

BEDDING: Had this guest simply contacted me or my on-site mgmnt informing us that the pillows were too thin for her liking, we would have immediately purchased a new set. The linens are still in good condition and are not cheap - they are hotel quality with 400+ thread count.

SHOWER: The master bathroom shower head was and is in perfect working condition.

BED: The master bedroom's standard height, queen mattress & box spring set is only 2 years of age & is designed to not require a metal bed frame.

I've had hundreds of guests who have very much enjoyed their stay over the last 12 yrs. and have had many repeat customers. Please take the time to read all the other positive reviews. Thanks!
