Its convenient location provides something for everyone. It is four blocks from Sacajawea Park & the beautiful, wild Yellowstone River. A ten minute stroll takes you to Livingston’s vibrant downtown where you can enjoy restaurants, bars and shopping. Yellowstone National Park is but an hour away and Bridger Bowl is a 50 minute drive.

You will find yourself close to so many activities, such as hiking, fishing, skiing, biking, floating and soaking, that it may be hard to decide what to do each day! We love Livingston and we feel you will too! Come stay here, enjoy our small town hospitality and let your worries and stress melt away.

If we can do anything to make your stay more special (anniversary, birthday, wedding, graduation, or family reunion celebrations), don’t hesitate to give us a shout and we will make arrangement for you or hook you up with the right information.

BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS: The main floor has a bedroom with its own full bath, queen bed, sitting chair, night table & lots of closet space. There are two bedrooms upstairs. One is the master bedroom with a queen sleigh bed, connected bathroom (shower only) and a separate walk-in dressing room. In the master sitting area, there’s a TV and an adjustable sofa which can convert into additional sleeping. The other upstairs bedroom is tastefully furnished with a double bed, a large 3 drawers night table, antique small side table, comfy chair, small cabinet & closet. Additional sleeping space can be found in the living room on the leather queen sleeper sofa. There is an additional half bath on the main level. Sheets are high thread count with high quality brand name pillow-top mattresses to ensure your comfort.

KITCHEN AND DINING: The kitchen is completely new with a full selection of cookware and tableware. There is a butler’s pantry/wet bar right off the kitchen for your entertaining convenience. The dining table seats 6 comfortably with room for two additional side chairs for a larger crowd. An antique sideboard close by houses linen and additional serving ware. There is a breakfast nook in the kitchen where you can share your morning coffee.

LIVING ROOM: The living area has a luxurious Italian leather sleeper sofa, leather chair, fabric slipper chair and a chaise lounge situated around a large leather ottoman which can serve as additional seating when needed. The dining area is open to the living area allowing some to linger around the table after dinner while others ease into the living room to relax. There are large windows in both areas that flood the rooms with a warm glow in the evenings.

OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENT: The Red House has a covered front porch with comfy seating to relax and watch small town life drift by. For more privacy, enjoy outdoor relaxing and dining in the backyard under the large maple tree. Kick back and chill or show off your outdoor cooking skills on the large gas grill. There is plenty of room for parties of twelve or more.

INTERNET: Full Internet capability.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Recreational opportunities are just minutes away with an extensive trail network for hiking, horseback riding, biking and cross country skiing. The town of Livingston has a good selection of fine and casual dining and an abundance of art galleries and unique shops. Yellowstone National Park is just an hour away and our well loved Paradise Valley is reachable within 15 minutes. There's so much to do that you may never want to leave!

Some of the art displayed on our walls is by Parks Reece, a friend and nationally known artist. His gallery is a few blocks away on main street in downtown Livingston. You will usually meet Parks at our town summer art walks!

About Chau Nguyen

Chau (like Jo but with ‘ch’ sound) Nguyen and her family moved to Montana in 1996 looking for a slower pace and a higher quality lifestyle. They lived in the Shields Valley area for the first 6 years but later moved to Livingston to be closer to the town activities and be more involved with the community.

When the children were little, Chau was an at home mom and a potter. Once her kids started school Chau was able to have more time teaching art classes at the non profit Livingston Center for Art and Culture (LCAC). Then Chau resumed her professional career as a business analyst to a local online printing company, PrintingForLess. Chau continues to be involved with the community as past president & board member of the LCAC and a jewelry artist.

Nowadays, Chau enjoys taking care of the Red House, provides enjoyment for her guests and spending more time with her daughter before she leaves home for college. Last but not least, Chau hopes to spend more time expanding her skills and experiences in the art of jewelry metal smithing. Chau loves traveling and cooking with her friends. If you have questions about Livingston, Montana and/or your stay here, Chau would be happy to speak to you.

Chau Nguyen purchased this house in 2005

Why Chau Nguyen chose Livingston

We purchased the Red House as an investment rental and has been leasing it on a yearly term. We have put lots of time, work & updates to the home and decided to change it in 2014 to a short term vacation rental so we can share one of “the last best places” with more guests.

What makes this house unique

Livingston is a friendly little town with a wonderful home town village feel where we all watch out and help each other. There are plenty of outdoor guide services available for those who want to fly fish or hike and need a hand. Also great rafting and floating opportunities.

The Red House is well furnished and comfortable with all amenities of home. Great large shady back yard for relaxing and sharing an outdoor meal with your family & friends.

Convenient location - easy walking distance to grocery, park, river, movie theatre and local downtown eateries. You can choose to either get away from it all or immerse yourself in outdoor adventures & festivals. Outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, artists and writers, this place is your home!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying at the Red House for a family Christmas. The property is in a good location, it was an easy walk to downtown Livingston and all the shops and restaurants. The house itself was perfect for 5 adults. The house was immaculate and very well appointed. The kitchen was particularly well appointed, we were amazed at all of the cooking and serving equipment. Overall, we could not have asked for anything better. We look forward to a return stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you Sandy for the wonderful review. I'm very glad that your family had a great Christmas holiday at our Red House. Yes, I also love the well appointed kitchen. I like to cook and have get-togethers so I had furnished the kitchen for my guests comfort with plenty of tools and dishes to entertain. Hope to see you back soon!

Thanksgiving at the Red House ...

  • 4 of 5

With my children living 1000 and 1400 miles away, getting together as a family can be a challenge. Coordinating days off from work, and then finding a place that can accommodate all of us comfortably ... The Red House fit the bill perfectly. The house is cozy, warm and inviting! The kitchen is more than I could have hoped for in an older home. As a family we all enjoy cooking and there was room for all of us without running into each other. Having the TV located upstairs did not bother us, never even turned it on. We would much rather play games, cards, or just visit over cups of coffee. Location was also a plus. I was recovering from knee surgery and being located near the Park gave me a place to walk each day. Within an hour we were visiting Yellowstone and Chico Hot Springs. Spent one evening at the local Bistro and were treated like royalty. A quick walk to Main Street and we could visit the local Brewery. A perfect package including a host that met us at the house to make sure we had everything we needed and made herself available during our stay. We highly recommend!

Wonderful Livingston Red House

  • 5 of 5

Red House is comfortable, well decorated, and very completely equipped. The owner met us and showed us around the property and dropped off coffee for us. Property is well located and we walked to excellent restaurants and Sacajawea Park on Yellowstone River. Owner checked up on us to be sure we were comfortable and could operate the furnace (easy) when temperature dropped unexpectedly. We look forward to staying there again.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This home was the perfect retreat for my family of six. It was in a great location and stylish, comfortable, and relaxing. We really appreciated all the attention to detail and the amenities the home offered. We loved drinking our coffee on the front porch and playing board games in the evenings. We would absolutely rent this home again if we vacation in the area.

Owner's Response: Hi Kara. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our house and we would love to have you & your family again for a longer visit. Thank you for taking such good care of our place; the house was so clean after you left that it was hard to believe you guys were there at all. And thank you for being considerate to our early to bed neighbors to the South. I sure hope to see you again soon.

Wonderfully ammenties and a great back yard!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and a group of friends rented the Red House during our wedding reception in Livingston and absolutely loved it. The kitchen has about every appliance you could imagine, wonderful cutlery and a great shady space in the back yard for dinners. The bedrooms are all cozy and there is a master bath that would be great for a couple traveling with young children. Sleep 3 couple comfortable, and an added fourth if they are ok with sleep on a new, clean pull out bed in the living room. It's an easy walk to down town and the hosts are connected yet discreet. A great time had by all!
