For who loves to relax in the countryside among olive trees and vineyards, without having to renounce of cultural visits to the city centre. At Castello apartments you can experience the best of both worlds. Situated only 3 km from the centre of Florence, on the city-centre’s doorstep, this beautiful 18th Century Villa housing three charming apartments, is set on four acres of olive trees and has a private swimming pool. Then, together on the terrace with spectacular views of Florence, you will enjoy the finished meal with a carefully-chosen Chianti wine. The price include the Villas own recipes in English.
Dinners overlooking Florence: Dinners are held in the outdoor area, above the swimming pool. Unforgettable romantic summer evenings can be enjoyed with Tuscan specialities and Chianti Wine, overlooking Florence city center. Price 25-30 euros per person, including three course dinner with Wine.
This lovely apartment was perfect for a week divided between relaxing by the pool and sightseeing in Florence. Francesco was a kind and generous owner and the extras he provided during our stay were very much appreciated. A car would be a help unless you are very fit and able to manage a steep 10 minute uphill walk. A regular bus service into Florence SMN station took 15 to 20 minutes and cost 1.20 Euros. The information provided in the description is accurate.
Ciao Teresa and Francesco
This was are second holiday at castello and again we had a wonderfull time Teresa and Francesco make you so welcome. The apartments have been revampt to a very high standard but retaining thier Tuscan charm .A meal made by Teresa on theveranda of the mainhouse served by Francesco overlooking Florence is a must. This is a super place to stay for a family holiday and agreat place to chill out.But with children I think a car is a must
Beautiful location villa lovely, clean and comfortable. Francesco and family very friendly and helpful. A car is recommended as the hill back up to the villa is a bit of a killer and not for the faint hearted. Good restaurants within a couple of miles from villa.
WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT HERE. WE STAYED HERE IN JUNE 2010.THE PROPERTY WAS WELL MAINTAINED. THE VILLA WAS CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE. WE FELT RIGHT AT HOME.THE SWIMMING POOL WAS A PLUS AND THE VIEWS ARE MAGNIFICENT.WE TOOK THE COOKING CLASS WITH TERESA AND IT WAS AMAZING.THE FOOD WAS VERY FRESH AND DELICIOUS. WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!!
A group of 6 of us (3 couples) stayed in this apartment from the 17th to the 23rd September this year and we couldn't have asked for a better location. Florence was beautiful, unforgetable in fact and the apartment itself was spacious, well maintained, very clean with very hospitable hosts. The country-side location just outside but overlooking the city was perfect and the decent walk up hill from the bus stop meant we could walk off all the pizza and gelato we consumed during the day! The buses into and out Florence were regular and cheap! Would recommend a stop at the Coop on the bus route just outside of Florence for stocking up on supplies. Would recommend staying here to anyone thinking of going to Florence.
We recently enjoyed a stay with Francesco and his mother Teresa in one of their beautiful villas. The postion above Florence made for a memorable view and the welcome and help we received was much appreciated. I would highly recommend this villa for it's location and facilities, although there is no air conditioning. The pool was very welcome during the hot August days. We look forward to returning soon.
Castello is an area of great historical importance. Several Renaissance villas are located within walking distance from the apartment. The Villa Reale and Villa Petraia, both belonging to the Medici family, are famous for their architecture and as striking examples of Italian formal gardens. Villa Petraia was also home to king Vittorio Emanuele II, who summered in Castello when Florence became the capital of Italy in 1865. Further down the road from Villa Petraia, you’ll see Villa Bel Riposo. Carlo Lorenzi Collodi, the author of Pinocchio lived here while he was writing this popular story. All the characters in Pinocchio were drawn from real persons living in and around Castello. Castello is an area of great natural beauty. Narrow roads wind along ancient stone walls up the mountainside. Marvel at the rustic farm houses and splendid villas that sit amongst acres of silver-leafed olive trees. Guests are invited to stroll throughout the Castello apartment's olive grove.
