Poplar Cottage is set on one acre of flat, grassy land and designed for true indoor/outdoor living. French doors open from the eat-in kitchen to a stone terrace that overlooks a rose garden. On the terrace guests will find an outdoor table, shaded by a mature date palm tree, suitable for dining al fresco for 6+ people. This is a perfect area to enjoy coffee, read, and watch the sunrise or nap.
Tall poplar and live oak trees shade the front yard of the home. Nap in the hammock while someone enjoys the tree swing for hours. There is a love seat, several lounge chairs and a rolling cart in the grove where you may enjoy your purchased wines from your wine tasting adventures.
In the back there is a 40x15 ft pool, a hot tub, lounge chairs and folding chairs to help create the perfect atmosphere on a sunny Sonoma day or a beautiful Sonoma night. A gas grill is available to cook up dinner. This is quintessential Wine Country living, affording guests the ability to choose between social and private activities, indoors and outdoors, in the best, most relaxing and enjoyable way.
The house comfortably sleeps up to eight people across three bedrooms and an additional den/sitting room. The master bedroom has a queen canopy bed, chaise, flat screen TV, large desk and Wi-Fi. There is a sliding glass door directly to the hot tub. Upstairs, the second and third sunny bedrooms share a new bathroom. One bedroom is equipped with a queen; the 2nd has two twins with two trundles. This room could be converted to accommodate a king bed. Downstairs there is a pullout queen sofa bed.
The mudroom has a large washer and dryer and there is a hair dryer and other amenities in the bathrooms for your convenience.
Poplar Cottage will provide an incredible “insider's” home base for exploring the Sonoma, Napa, and Carneros wine regions. The Sonoma/Napa area offers great vacation experiences throughout the four seasons. There is never a bad time to visit Northern California's wine country.
Walk, borrow our bikes, or motor to Sonoma Plaza restaurants, tasting rooms, unique shops, galleries, historic sites; and art, cultural, film, food, wine, entertainment events.
Our San Francisco family has owned this home since 2002 and has enjoyed beautiful Sonoma year round as a wonderful family retreat.
Stacey Scott purchased this house in 2002
The property has been passed down a generation. We are now opening it up to people to share the love of the Sonoma county and all it has to offer.
Behind the front gate is a wonderful property with a grassy, shaded and lush front yard. We love our large tree swing hung from a 100 yr old live oak tree. The hammock is a wonderful place to nap, read or just escape. Swimming and enjoying the sun and shade is another plus on this property.
The home is situated on a beautiful piece of property. We loved how cozy it was and well equipped with everything you could need. Stacey was helpful and answered any questions. The house was clean and well maintained. The lovely pool and hot tub are a plus! We will definitely stay here when we come back to visit wine country. Truly, a special place!
A great home on a beautiful property close to the Sonoma square. The house was clean, easy to operate and was furnished great. Very nice pool and hotub. Huge yard as well. Was equipped with everything we needed. We will definitely stay here next time we go to the wine country.
Our family was in Sonoma for a wedding/reception on Sonoma Square. This house was great! We had 6 adults and two young children. The house is lovely and comfortable with plenty of space. Sleeping 8 includes two twins with two trundle beds in one bedroom, but that fit our group well. The grounds are mature and lovely, the hot tub and pool easily accessible, and the hammock and swings were a great hit.
Plus - the kitchen is more spacious than the pictures make it look, a nice surprise!
We definitely recommend this place, and the owners could not have been more helpful - both welcoming and accessible by phone at all times.
My family and I just had a wonderful vacation in this home. It's a lovely place with huge, mature trees, a vegetable garden and ample room to run and play. My kids are 6 and 10 and it was a perfect place for them. Enjoy!
We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely Sonoma vacation home with friends and family for a baby moon vacation and baby shower celebration under the apple trees by the pool! We swam and lounged by the pool everyday. Our highly responsive hosts were wonderfully accommodating from making sure the grill was ready for us and securing the garden for our well behaved small dog. The house instructions and guide for the area provided by the hosts was also very helpful.
We recently rented the house for 4 nights for my 2 year old son's birthday. There were four adults and our son and the house was absolutely perfect. I cannot recommend the house enough as it was the perfect get-away with everything you could want.
The house is located on large, beautiful grounds with an incredible number of very old poplar trees. The front yard is fully fenced (perfect for a 2yr old) and there are swings, hammocks etc dotted around. The grounds offer the perfect setting for relaxing under a tree, an indulgent lunch (with wine) or sitting by the pool. The gardens and lawns are meticulously maintained and we had an incredible afternoon lunch with family & friends who gathered in various corners of the garden.
The house itself is very well maintained with all mod-cons and a fully functioning kitchen with everything you could want. It was clean, comfortable and also provided plenty of space for time away from the in-laws (or 2yr old). The ground floor master was amazing with views of the pool, private en-suite and a walk-in big enough for a child's cot. The house is located a short drive from town (less than 5 minutes) and is walking distance to large playing fields. There were even some nearby paddocks with goats & sheep! The street is very quiet as there is no through traffic.
The owners were exceptionally attentive and you can see that it is a much loved home. The booking process, check-in and departure were made very easy through Stacey's emails and the online site that manages everything.
Thanks for an amazing stay and definitely worth a visit for anyone visiting the area.
