Asheville Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Private 2 Bedroom, 1 Bath Cottage Centrally Located

Completely renovated, clean, well-furnished 2 bedroom home located on very quiet side street in a beautiful, historic Asheville neighborhood, seconds from Biltmore Avenue (the city's main drag), 1.5 miles from downtown Asheville and .5 miles from the Biltmore House front gate. The property offers plenty of open space, majestic hemlock trees, beautiful stonework features, all within a wonderfully-walkable neighborhood.

Inside the house, you'll walk on recently refinished hardwood floors throughout. The front bedroom is airy and well-lit with four screened, fully functioning windows. The back bedroom is a sleeper's paradise. Each of the bedrooms has a full-sized closet and a chest of drawers so you can unpack and just live.....

Ceiling fans in bedrooms and brand-new central heat and air-conditioning mean you've got full control of your comfort no matter what.

Blackout blinds on the windows mean Mother Nature won't wake late sleepers.

Brand-new, fully-tiled bathroom with historic hints, so you can clean up from your mountain hike in king-like comfort.

Full-size washer and dryer -- so you can travel light and wash while you're here.

The fully-stocked eat-in kitchen offers a full-size stove, refrigerator, dishwasher. The appliances were purchased in 2014.

The neighborhood is great for a quiet, exploratory stroll, and Asheville is a mecca for cyclists, rock climbers, hikers, and river boaters. The owners are avid cyclists and can recommend a full variety of road and mountain biking options, as well as lots of interesting mountain-view and waterfall hikes.

Biltmore Village and Biltmore Estate are just blocks away, offering 1920's style and luxury. Asheville's historic downtown is also close by, packed with great restaurants (at least 5 of which are run by James Beard Nominated chefs), music venues, shops, and art galleries. Don't miss the Pritchard Park drum circle every Friday night!

Please note:

This home provides a perfect get-away for couples, small families or small groups of friends. The owners care about the cottage and the neighborhood. The cottage is not an appropriate place for large gatherings, loud parties, or events. There is ample parking for 2 vehicles. If your group requires additional parking, please contact the owners prior to booking.

About Elizabeth Mills

Chris and Liz have lived in North Carolina for almost 30 years. We moved our family and our careers from Greensboro to Asheville in 2005. We have two children (ages 3 and 13).

Elizabeth Mills purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Elizabeth Mills chose Asheville

In 2010, we purchased the cottage which sits on a .5 acre lot, adjacent to our 1924 home in the Kenilworth neighborhood. The street where we currently live is a dream spot to us because of its central location, its beauty, and the surrounding neighborhood. We have recently put a ton of energy into this place, and we have fallen in love with it anew. We are pleased to offer it for your enjoyment here, and we are sure you'll share our appreciation of this fantastic home.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is located in a quiet neighborhood, populated by historic properties and huge trees. The house itself is adjacent to and overlooks a small, heavily-wooded, public park with hiking trails. This neighborhood is incredibly walkable, and full of neat places to explore. We have recently refinished every interior surface of the home, investing our personal elbow-grease into it...which has made us feel even more affection for the place.

Best rental ever!

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I fell in love with the house from the moment of our arrival! So stylishly and comfortably appointed, cozy and spotlessly clean, it was perfect for our long weekend getaway. It was easy to find, and very close to Biltmore Village and the downtown area. After our long days hiking and exploring the area, we loved warming up in front of the fireplace in the evenings. I have rented many VRBO properties, and this was by far my favorite. I was searching the bath towels online while we were there to be able to get some for myself at home! The beds and pillows were so comfortable; we got great sleep! Liz was so helpful in every way, even when we needed a recommendation for an auto mechanic after some car trouble on the way up from Florida. She even checked on us after an early winter storm. Other rental property owners could take a cue from this awesome house. This place is perfect and I hope to return.

Stylish Comfort close to Downtown

  • 5 of 5
Pristine, stylish, and completely renovated, this adorable cottage was more than we could have hoped for in our accommodations! Owners Liz and Chris have thought of everything - from the comfy beds and linens to a kitchen properly stocked with top of the line cookware, wine glasses and utensils. The cottage sits on a small hill so you can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains in front of a fire from the beautiful stone fireplace in the living room.

Liz was great about giving us recommendations for drives and hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The downtown Asheville scene, which is just a 5 minute drive from the cottage, is full of great food, art, and music and the locals couldn't be more friendly. We highly recommend Rhubarb and Curate restaurants [make dinner reservations ahead of time for weekends - they get BUSY], and we did all of our grocery shopping at the Katuah specialty market [healthy food oriented, sells wine, beer and cider, great quality coffee, and a small selection of prepared foods] a half mile away.

Asheville is home to a talented group of artisans and craftsmen, and the art/ceramics/glass is high quality. We enjoyed our trip to the Folk Art Center, a museum and guild store on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For a true sense of the local vibe, don't miss the weekly Drum Circle every Friday at 5pm in the downtown park [just ask any local where to find it]. A bit earthy, crunchy, granola, but surprisingly relaxing and restorative - people of all ages come to enjoy this local event. The Orange Peel is a great music venue that gets name acts, so check their calendar to see what's happening when you are in town.

Our first (airplane) vacation with our 5 & 3 year old, so happy we choose this house. So cozy, clean and perfect location. Had everything we needed, and would definitely stay here again.

This Rental Property Was The Highlight of Our Vacation

  • 5 of 5
I knew booking this property was a great decision. It had everything we were looking for. But combined with the incredibly convenient location, the delightful front porch for sipping coffee in the morning sunlight, and the absolutely delightful owner's - this rental single-handled made a surprise birthday weekend getaway the most fun weekend my family has had in a while. The interior is organized in a very user-friendly manner (you can find anything you might need), the beds are really comfortable and the whole layout is so peaceful. For selfish reasons - it's difficult writing this review because it greatly benefits us for this place to stay secret and not get too booked up. We will not be looking to stay anywhere else whenever we come to Asheville from now on. BUT - for the owner's who were so gracious during our stay and to all looking for the perfect getaway... this is the lodging you should book.

This cottage is much much nicer than title details! Lovely, clean, comfy!!!

I'm very picky about beds & linens -the bed was so terrific I want to recreate it at home. We very much enjoyed staying in a super clean, lovely, comfy place. Lots of nice sitting space for lounging, dinner in, reading, movie watching. Enjoyed location, quiet, extras like washer/dryer

Beautiful, well-appointed cottage in a convenient location

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in this cozy, well-appointed cottage! The cottage had vintage charm but with lots of nice updates. The beds were very comfortable and the towels and linens were high quality.

This cottage makes a nice home base for exploring Asheville. The Biltmore Village shops are close by (we recommend breakfast at the Corner Kitchen) as is downtown (take a walking tour). We had a wonderful dinner at the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn and enjoyed a number of waterfall hikes (Looking Glass Falls near the Blue Ridge Parkway, High Falls and Triple Falls at Dupont State Forest), and even saw some good fall color at higher elevations on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

All in all, a wonderful visit to Asheville and a wonderful place to stay! Liz was great to work with and she even had our deposit refunded to us before we got home.

Thanks Liz and Chris!
