Married 30 years and getting close to retirement. Yeah!

Mike & Laura (Owners) purchased this house in 2014

We love this property because of its location, close to the beach, close to snorkeling and surfing and it's quit location.

'The feel of the home is hawaiian in and out. Our daily routine is, early morning run or walk on Al'i Dr. walk to either Magic Sands Beach Park or Kahalu'u Beach Park to snorkel. Come home wash of the sand at the outside shower and jump into the pool, then BBQ on the Lanai and watch sunset. Get an occasional golf game in or just simply just sit and relax.'

Absolutely Amazing Property

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 10 stayed in this amazing home for ten days. I would highly recommend this property to all. The house is spacious, welcoming and met all of our needs. The owners and property manager were extremely helpful and always easy to get a hold of. We were there when Hurrican Iselle hit Hawaii and both the owner and property manager contacted us pre-storm to ensure that we had everything we needed.

We spent the majority of our time in the pool. It is easily accessible, warm and a great place to play and relax.

With the provided kitchen and grill amenities we ate in most nights, cooking fabulous and fresh Hawaiian meals.

The house was a bit warm, it does not have AC, however we knew that prior to visiting. That said, there are many fans to help cool the house.

If you are planning a trip to Kona I urge you to consider this home. You will not be disappointed. All of our expectations were met and then some. We look forward to coming again.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for the great review! We're glad to see our visitors taking full advantage of the benefits this vacation home has to offer both from the convenient surrounding amenities and from the vacation home itself. As for the weather sometimes its perfect and then sometimes its even better than perfect. Warm! I'm sure the hurricane brought a bit more humidity in more than the norm and glad everyone came out of it well. Aloha! We can't wait for your return. Mike & Laura

First Hawaiian stay

  • 5 of 5
Had a wonderful Hawaiian stay. This great tropical vacation home is spacious and clean. It was so nice to have a kitchen supplied with all you need to cook; pots pans, utensils, and basic seasonings were all stocked in the kitchen. We just stopped at the local market for food, snacks, and drinks and we were all set for a fun filled week! The home is located in a great area that made it fast and easy to get to the local beaches for our snorkel trips. (all snorkel gear & beach towels are available at the home). We seen so many beautiful fish and turtles no matter where we chose to snorkel. Highly recommend trying out snorkeling to anyone who visits Kona! We used the refreshing waterfall pool almost each evening before dinner and watched several amazing Kona sunsets from the cozy upstairs Lanai. Our week stay in Kona was an amazing experience. From our time we spent relaxing at the house, beach, or poolside. To our adventures of exploring the beautiful waterfalls in and around Hilo, walking through the lava tubes at the Kilauea Volcano, shopping and tasting local foods and fruits and we will never forget our deep sea fishing adventure with Kenny from Makana Lani Charters. We look forward to our next stay and making many more new memories here! A huge Thanks to Mike and Laura for being wonderful homeowners of this vacation rental and being quick and helpful in answering any of our questions before and during our stay! We highly recommend this vacation home to anyone looking for a beautiful home to rent during their Big Island stay!

Perfect for our week-long 3 generation family stay

  • 5 of 5
The pool is the highlight. Not only is it beautiful, there is a large shallow area and lots of sitting options in the form of underwater ledges. The tile and fish mosaics on the bottom as well as the waterfall (which runs on an automatic timer) add some fun. The deep end is just big enough to allow for refreshing dives in the pool. The largest dining table is poolside and our group of 9 ate dinner here most nights. Even the pool lighting was great.

The house is spacious. All 9 of us stayed in the main house (we did not use the studio). The 3 bedrooms on the lower level all have their own private entrances to the house. The living room was comfortable, and the breakfast bar in the kitchen was perfect for casual meals. The bar is a bit high, even for adults, but the kids never complained. Our favorite inside hang-out was the upstairs lanai with it's overhead fan, fresh breezes and views. Turned out to be a perfect spot to watch the fireworks shot off from the marina on the 4th of July. The laundry room with it's attached screen porch with plenty of space to hang clothes, swimming suits and towels out to dry was also in use constantly.

The beach is a few blocks away. Easy for adults, even if carrying snorkel gear or a boogie board (lots of such beach gear is stored at the house for use!). When we were there in summer, there was plenty of sand on the beach. There was even an often busy volleyball net. The waves were plentiful all week, making for great boogie boarding or body surfing. The waves were a bit too much for some of the kids in our group, though, and the snorkeling wasn't great. A mile south is a great snorkeling beach that we all enjoyed. That beach was pretty crowded and full of tourists, but who are we to complain about that. We saw turtles at both beaches.

The only downside for us was the overall layout of the house. There is one general entrance to the house in the front, but the driveway is in the back and the pool is on the side. One bedroom has a door to the driveway. Two bedrooms have doors poolside. We ended up constantly walking through these bedrooms for easy access to the driveway or pool. (The door to the studio is in the rear.) We had a few gecko visitors inside, but it's the tropics. We weren't concerned. Note that there are lots of open stairs (studio excepted).

The new owners and managers are wonderful. It was easy to get a hold of them, and they were attentive to anything we asked.

Shielded from winds by Maunaloa, south Kona’s calm and clear waters are perfect for snorkeling, diving and spotting dolphins and honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles). One of Kona’s most memorable experiences is going on a manta ray boat tour to scuba or snorkel with these gentle, graceful sea creatures. Kona is also famous for its deep-sea fishing, hosting the International Billfish Tournament (August) every year. And on land, don’t forget to travel to the cooler upland slopes of towns like Holualoa, where you can sample the distinctive flavors of 100% Kona coffee. On the versatile Kona coast, you’ll find the adventures are as big as the island itself. http://www.gohawaii.com/big-island/regions-neighborhoods/kona
