Colonial Beach is an amazing place, with great swimming beaches on the Potomac River, a fun small town, relaxing views of the water and offering stunning sunsets. This little town is a fantastic place where families have come for generations to enjoy family gatherings, our golf carts, picnics, beaches, great fishing and boating, fun restaurants and bars and more.
Colonail Beach has experienced a renaissance, in the last ten years. Along with that rebirth, established restaurants are enjoying a renewed interest from diners who enjoy fresh seafood and other local dishes. You will find some of the best seafood on the Potomac along with two Thai French restaurants, sandwich shops, Chinese and a gourmet grocery store with dining.
Colonial Beach is nestled in a historic Virginia corridor. The birthplaces of Presidents James Monroe and George Washington are located just outside the town limits. Confederate Civil War General Robert E. Lee's childhood home, Stratford Hal is a short drive down Route 3. These historical attractions offer tours and a multitude of family activities year round.
Colonial Beach is also conveniently located near the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail which includes the Ingleside Plantation Winery and Oak Crest Winery.
If rip roaring engines are more your speed stop by the Colonial Beach Drag-way on a Friday night to watch live races.
In town, fish from the town pier or book a charter with Potomac River Charters, cruise the point on a bike or Golf Cart (rentals available) or rent a kayak at Colonial Beach Yacht Center. The Colonial Beach Museum is open on weekend and located on Hawthorn St, in the heart of the downtown area.
