Parrita Villa Rental Photos and Description
La Isla Palo Seco cottage description
Traveling about 3 miles from the friendly, working-class village of Parrita to head for the beach, you will pass a palm oil plantation, a large cattle and horse pasture, and the shrimp farm before reaching the beautiful community of Villas Las Flores. Villas Las Flores is a 23 acre community with 30 one-story villas. The grounds live up to the name with amazing landscaping and grooming. You can pick your own lemons, limes, mangos, observe an astounding variety of birds, or feed turtles at the lagoon. Our pool is never crowded, but always welcoming after a long day in the rainforest, Manuel Antonio or Carrera National Parks, surfing or beach combing nearby, or after returning from perhaps a longer visit to Monte Verde, Poas or Arenal Volcanos, or other special spots on the Pacific.
Our rental villa, Casa Mono Feliz, (number36) the prime location on the property....at the end of the road, and beside the lagoon, very private and quiet. We offer 2 bedrooms. One with either a king or twin beds, and one with a king bed, two full baths.
A tiled,drive-thru cochera with a fan and rocking chairs just made for listening to the birds and ocean, while watching the activity on the lagoon, and enjoying the amazing array of flowering plants and trees. Perfect setting for relaxing evening cocktails or morning coffee!
On the back, a screened in terraza with dining area, and more rocking chairs perfect for reading, relaxing, or watching the monkeys, coati, birds and iguanas in the mangrove behind us. The capuchin monkeys are nearly daily visitors in the back where you can observe and photograph them or walk out and chat with them! Over the days, you will come to recognize them as individual little personalities!
The kitchen, with granite countertops and teak cabinets is equipped fully with small appliances, dishes, cookware, etc. There are also an eating counter and pantry and dishwasher in this area.
In the living room are a futon which will also sleep 2 (queen), two comfortable chairs with ottoman, television, games, and more.
This is a desirable unit because it is well-equipped for longer stays. The furniture is comfortable, and the decor is cheerful.
There is a manager on property at all times as well as a night guard, gardeners and house keepers. The manager speaks English, French and Spanish. Taxis are readily available, and there are a couple of little restaurants with in an easy walk. You will need a car if you want to travel much.

About J.O. and Liz Ratliff
We are a recently retired government worker and school counselor from Virginia (DC area). Having grown up in the West, we both have a love of nature, wildlife and the outdoors. We are also tired of winters! Our first visit to Costa Rica assured us that this friendly little country would offer us these comforts. Perhaps what impressed us most, though was the pride the locals have in their country. There is a sense of Pura Vida always. Our adult children are thrilled with our choice and also spend a lot of time at Villas Las Flores. We are just a 2 hour drive from Juan Santamaria Int'l Airport. It is a beautiful mountain drive.
J.O. and Liz Ratliff purchased this villa in 2005
Why J.O. and Liz Ratliff chose Parrita
By our third visit in search of our Costa Rica dream home, we were sure of what we wanted. That was peace and tranquility, to be able to hear and see the ocean, an unspoiled, secluded beach, beautiful, natural plant life, abundant wildlife, security in an established community and friendly people. After visiting many congested, commercial, 'touristy' prospects, a friend recommended the small, quiet Villas Las Flores. As soon as we drove through the gates, we knew that we had found what we were looking for! Our primary home at Villas Las FLores is a 2 bedroom 2 bath in which we spend 3-4 months a year. Later, we purchased the one-bedroom, also available through VRBO.
If you are looking for night-life, shopping, gambling, and crowds, this is not for you. (Though you can find them nearby). If you want to unwind, relax, enjoy pleasant company and nature, you can do no better. This is a real jewel and a great bargain on the Costa Rica vacation rental market.
What makes this villa unique
There is a sense of community at Villas Las Flores. Many of the homeowners spend a good deal of time here. There are other group activities for anyone interested...pizza parties, pot-luck dinners, shuffle board tournaments, etc. Our location is perfect. We are between the surfing, tourist town of Jaco and the fishing seaport village of Quepos, and the beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park and its lovely white beaches. An easy day's drive will take you to Monte Verde, Arenal, Dominical and more. Many guests 'headquarter' at VLF and take overnight trips to other spots. The management of VLF is always available to help you with car rentals and activity plans. Rental bicycles are available at VLF. We often ride into Parrita for a meal or a little shopping. The road that runs along the beach is also a fun ride. If you walk the beach in the other direction, you will come to the mouth of the Parrita River as it flows into the ocean....good fishing! Palo Seco Beach(Playa) lays East and West, so from the same location you can watch the morning sunrise and the evening sunset. I have never seen more spectacular skies anywhere! You are in for a memorable treat.
