Great family home away from home

We travelled for a 5 night stay with our 2 year old and 4 year old. This property served as an excellent home base to travel around Calgary and area due to its central location. Each of our kids was able to have their own room which made our evenings much more relaxing as our kids could maintain their bedtime routines. We found that even though there was no AC (we weren't expecting it) the house remained cool and comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed except for a few items, but we were able to make do. The backyard was a hit with our little ones and we appreciated the toys and books that were in the house for them to play with. One suggestion I could make would be to change the pillows in the master bedroom, we ended up bringing all the extra pillows in the house into that room (there were plenty) as the master bedroom pillows were quite flat. Again, totally manageable and not a major concern. Thanks for sharing your property with us, it made our getaway much more relaxing than if we'd had to stay in a tiny hotel room! We would definitely stay here again!

Buyer beware marketing method used

We rented the house in August expecting a country setting (see photo above). The web site references attraction for hunters. What we found was an inner city home on a main street and NO air conditioning. The interior of the home is nice and appeared clean but the location was a major concern. The owner was contacted when we arrived to ask how to turn on the air and the response was we should have known there was no air because the web site said heating. This property was rented to us when the temps had been running in the 80's - the owner should have told us no air. Travelers expect heating and air conditioning - even travel trailers have that. We stayed about 5 hours - just long enough to rest a bit after hours of travel and to make arrangements for other accommodations. The owner was not willing to refund the money. Lesson learned!

Owner's Response: Regarding the stay of the guests on Aug 23 2014. We feel that the disillusionment or just a guest that can't be satisfied, these guests should have took the time to review the listing carefully. It clearly states that this house is 5 min from downtown Not 5 min in the woods it also has a country Theme. As for the hunting we provided a gun safe for those in need of one or for valuables to accommodate our guests. As for the AC it Doesn't indicate that we provide AC on our listing. This guest should have asked us specifically if that she wasn't able to understand or interpret our listing she should have contact us regarding the AC prior to booking. When contacted by this guest we offered to come in that morning with an AC unit and was hung upon. We rushed back to Calgary regardless that next morning with AC in hand, phoned the guests to install the AC and they had told us they already check into a 5* resort in Banff. These guests Would Not allowing us the chance to accommodate them in anyway at ALL. Calgary is not know for heat waves or very hot summers. Which is why we don't provide AC but their are lots of fans and great ventilation. Even though we drove 3 hours to the rental home. It wasn't enough for the guest to stay even with the AC we bought specifically for them. As for a refund it clearly states on the rental agreement our refund policy. This was an unfortunate event for the both of us but I feel that this guest is posting this review with (malice)which it should have been directed towards the person in charge of making their reservation. We will always try our very best to accommodate our guest to the best of our abilities.
