Photos and Description of the Los Alcazares vacation house rental
This is our family home, sleeping a maximum of 6 in comfort, close to beach

This 3 bedroom house is ideally located, some 10min drive from Murcia airport or 55 min from Alicante. A short stroll takes you either to the calm waters of the Mar Menor, with its safe bathing, especially good for those with children or to a wide variety of restaurants and shops. The property is set on a corner plot, overlooking the pool and comes with air conditioning in the main lounge and both upstairs bedrooms, both of which have their own balcony. All rooms also have ceiling fans. There is also a roof solarium with a large sun canopy, ideal for sheltered sunbathing. There is a private front terrace and garden with tables and chairs. The property sits in a secure, gated residential community, where there is a large pool with a separate shallow area for younger children.

This is our family home in Spain, so is furnished to a high standard, with all those little bits and pieces that make a 'home'.

El Divino Community: Our house is part of the El Divino residential development, which is a mixed community, where some owners have made it their full time home and therefore live there for 12 months of the year. Other properties, such as ours, are occupied by the owners at certain times during the year, but are also made available for rental, when we are not in residence. Our community does have a few guidelines on how we would like all residents and rental guests to behave and a copy of these will be sent to you, when you book and another set will be left on the fridge door. We would ask all of those who use our house to please follow these community guidelines - there is nothing ridiculous in them, but they have been agreed to by all of the owners (including ourselves) to ensure that everyone can enjoy use of the community and its pool facilities whilst maintaining a sensible and family friendly environment. Our is not a holiday development, but one where you are able to enjoy all of the benefits that our community provides. In particular, please note that the pool closes at 10pm and that no diving or jumping into the pool is allowed. Pool attendants will be on duty during the months of July & August, for your safety.

We thank you all for taking time to familiarize yourselves with the community guidelines when you get to the house.

What to do, where to eat etc: Those of you who have been to the med before will know that jelly fish can be a problem - but not on the Mar Menor. Here the beaches are protected by nets, providing a warm, safe and jelly fish free environment in which to swim.

The beaches shelve gently into the water creating a calm shallow sea, to cool off in.

There is so much to do and see in the area, with a wide variety of restaurants available in walking distance from the house, catering for all tastes and types of cuisine. There are also a number of beach side bars, where you can relax with a beer or coffee, have a light snack or some local tapas. And most have recliners and shady grass umbrellas that you can hire for a small daily charge.

For those who wish to travel further afield, there are buses that run to Cartegena and Murcia, both towns that are well worth exploring.

Other Information: We do have an information folder in the house, where we keep details on interesting restaurants that we have found, places to visit etc. Please do add anything to it that you think might be on interest to other holiday makers.

We all hear every day about the economic problems and the drop in the value of the pound, which is why we have kept our prices as low as possible and in sterling. Murcia airport is 10 minutes away and is served by all of the budget airlines - Ryanair, easyjet, Jet2 etc and you can get excellent deals on your flights if you are prepared to take the time and look for the offers, when they become available.

Our house offers excellent value accommodation in an area where the sun does shine most of the year!! (not quite like the UK).

If we can help you at any time with further information, please do get in touch.

About Stephen or Kim Welch

We purchased the property, off plan, in 1999 and moved into the property in 2000, when it was completed. We have 4 children and have had many enjoyable holidays over the years, but with our children now growing up, we decided to offer our house for rental during those periods when we would not be in residence. As it is still our holiday home in spain, we hope that you will find it to your liking and that we offer you all of those little extra things that you would find in your own home.

Stephen or Kim Welch purchased this house in 2000
Why Stephen or Kim Welch chose Los Alcazares

We decided to buy in Los Alcazares as we liked the area and the local town, which still maintains a very spanish feel to it and is a very popular holiday location with spanish families, who come to the coast from Murcia and Madrid. We also liked the location of our development, being a short distance from both shops, restaurants and the beach and that the Mar Menor is quite unique and offers very safe bathing for adults and children. It is also warmer than the Med ! We have now been coming back for over 12 years and enjoy it every time, though we have seen many changes. We hope that in years to come, we may be able to spend more time in our house and use it as a base, once we retire.

What makes this house unique

Our house is situated on a secure residencial community, with beautiful community gardens and an excellent community pool for all to enjoy. Our house has one of the best locations on the development, facing directly onto the pool. The house has 2 floors plus a roof solarium and has 3 balcony areas, where you can sit out and relax in the sunshine.

We are also conveniently located, with the nearest shops and restaurants some 5 minutes walk away and the nearest beach, on the Mar Menor, less than 10 minutes away.

Los Alcazares is located on the Mar Menor, a large salt water lagoon separated from the Med by the La Manga strip. In summer months, the waters of the Mar Menor are several degrees warmer than the Med and its gently shelving and netted beaches and calm waters make it a safe environment for those with children.

There are several towns within easy reach on the Mar Menor, all offering an interesting in site into the Spanish way of life with lively markets and excellent tapas bars and restaurants. Some 20 minutes drive is the ancient town of Cartegena, with its Roman and Moorish ruins. A delightful town to wile away a few hours, whether it be walking along its narrow streets or taking in a glass of wine on the newly refurbished harbor front, a popular stopping point for cruise liners.

40 minutes brings you to the regional capital Murcia - recommended for its architecture, whether it be the cathedral or the bull ring that takes your fancy.

The bikes come complete with padlocks, which we would ask to you use whenever the bikes are taken out of the casita, even if just to stand against the back wall. For those interested in cycling, the town has a delightful walking track by the beach, which can also be used by cyclists. This runs for some 5-6 miles and is, naturally, very flat so easy for those who like to take their cycling gently! All master keys are kept on hooks inside one of the kitchen doors. When leaving the property, please ensure that all doors and security gates are locked. We would also recommend (for your own peace of mind) that you lock the security grills on both downstairs doors, if you intend to spend time up on the roof solarium - again, it is just sensible security for your own personal goods. There has been very little theft in our community, but it is better to be safe.

I have a young familly with 2 boys age 2 and 10. The accomodation is ideal offering everything we need for a fabulous holiday. The location is a 5 minuite walk to the main stretch with numerous restruants and shops and with only another 5 minutes to the beach with numerous bars etc. Approximately 10 minutes in the other direction there is a large weekly open air market and an excellent all you can eat chinese restruant. The property and its surroundings are well maintained and booking the property was simple and staright forward. In fact we cannot rate the accomodation any higher than to state this is out third stay in the same property in less than a year. We arrived back today, only to be looking to book again in September.

I have just returned from a long weekend break - and I can't wait to book for next year!

This property is clean, in a friendly community, with a wonderful shared pool and gardens. The front patio area of the property is a lovely area for eating in the shade or sunbathing in full sunshine!

The local restaurants/bars are within easy walking distance, and so is the clean beach. At least 2 good sized supermarkets close by, and the airport really is only 10mins away, so once you leave the airport you don't have a long drive to really start your holiday!

Making the booking with the owners was easy - and I'm looking forward to many more holidays here in the future!

August 2010

Myself my wife our 17 yr old son and his friend stayed here for 10 nights in August and found the house to be one of the best positions on the development. The front patio catches the sun from midday to late evening when most of the others are in the shade.

The house had everything you could have needed. The Casita is an Aladins cave of holiday equipment, deckchairs, beach umbrellas, bodyboards, inflatable lilos and buckets and spades etc. The shopping trolley was a godsend to bring groceries, water etc back fron the "Mercadona" supermarket. There is even a Lidl 5 minutes away.

The development is 5 mins from all that you would need, supermarkets, restaurants and bars and the bus stop is only 5 mins away. We had intended to hire a car but found that we didnt need to as everything was at hand.

The Restaurants cater for all tastes and budgets and if you feel a bit more adventurous try El Chato or Ramons which are typically Spanish and only 10min walk away.

As my son and his friend are only 17 we thought they might get a bit bored, but once they had "found their feet" the main strip is relaxed and friendly enough that we werent worried about letting them wander into some of the bars and play pool etc while we just sat back and chilled out.

We stayed in the house in May 2010 and it exceeded all our expectations. The house has everything you could ever need (and then some!) Fabulous location and community, very clean and comfortable.
The area itself was great plenty of shops bars etc, good supermarket close by and the beach within easy walking distance. We particularly reccomend - Penny Farthing and Route 66 for great food and the service was excellent. We would recommend this apartment and area to anyone and we would definately go again.

Our favourite place

This was our sixth visit to Los Alcazares so we know the area quite well. It was the third time we had stayed in the 'El Divino' community. The previous occasions we stayed in similar style houses but his one outshone the other two. The description gave good expectations of the
house and these were exceeded. We are not light travellers. We take things that some houses have not provided; a jug, a chopping board (and sharp knife) among other things. We didn't need anything in this house.
It had everything we needed and more. It was comfortable and clean -
some places aren't. There was air con and fans plenty of towels, good crockery and cutlery (not the comedy type where the fork bends as you try to spear some cucumber !)
We have 6 year old twins and appreciated the extras that this house had. Communications with the owners were excellent. They provided us with contacts for transport to/from the airport, which was very useful. It was evident that this house had been set up as a home and we felt privileged that we were able to stay there. We enjoyed it so much that within 24 hours of returning home we had booked to return in October.
