|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Holden Beach is somewhat unique in that it is south facing and thus runs East to West providing for interesting sun rises and sets. As you cross the high span bridge to the island, you are likely to be "awed" by the view of the island, the expanse that is available for your fun and pleasure, AND no high-rise buildings. The condo is a short distance from the bridge so that everything is easily accessible yet you can leave all the 'noise' behind as you walk into the condo and immediately view the ocean.
Our beach home is a nicely furnished bedroom on the first level so you don't have all the steps to climb. The master bedroom (king) faces the ocean while the second bedroom (2 singles) is street side (bed linens are included during Prime season). It is well appointed with most all the appliances, eating and cookware you might have at home. The table provides ample seating in addition to the counter and chairs. There is central AC and fans in every room. There are three cable TV's and WIFI for your convenience. Exit cleaning is included during Resort and Prime seasons. No dogs or cats are allowed. There are rockers on the ocean side deck. The shady concrete pad area under the condo is large enough to accommodate your car. A charcoal grill and outdoor shower are available for your use next to the pool.
In addition to relaxing on the beach, on could: walk to either end of the island; fish from the surf or nearby pier; visit the kids size amusement part, miniature golf, water slide, and go-carts on the causeway; treat yourself to a local homemade ice cream; listen to the 'turtle talk' seminar that is offered weekly near the bridge and maybe see the hatching's head back to the ocean; watch the shrimp boats in action off the coast; water the deer that make the island their home; enjoy the weekend musical events at the Pavilion under the bridge; enjoy the spring and fall craft fairs on the island; sample the many dining options; play golf at approx. 100 courses within 60 min. radius; bike, kayak, boat or jet-ski (rentals available near bridge); enjoy the night life at Myrtle Beach (House of Blues, Medieval Times, Alabama Theater, Carolina Opry, Legends, the night clubs at Broadway at the Beach); visit Calabash, the "Seafood Capital of the World"; take in the history in Wilmington including the battleship USS North Carolina; and/or tour a local winery.
We first visited Holden Beach in 1979 and fell in love with the quiet, non-commercial, family oriented community with no high-rises and the crowds they produce. We tried other beaches but always came back to Holden as the best fit for our family. In the mid '80's, we purchased a condo and in 2001 upgraded to a small house. In 2005 we purchased the Waters Edge condo to have a smaller and easier get-away which has perfectly suited its purpose for us. We maintain our properties to the same standards as our primary residence. We enjoy having others discover and experience the relaxation, tranquility and fun of Holden Beach.
We love the wide open beach, the family friendly community and the absence of the 'noise' of the more commercialized beaches. Yet there is so much to do in close proximity to Holden Beach if the need or interest arises.
One can walk without crowds or bike or rollerblade around the whole island without too much concern about traffic. It's the best of both worlds: quiet if you want it but lots of activities near-by if desired.
to be honest the worst thing I can say is that there was a shampoo container behind the toilet and I know it wasn't ours, and the lamp in the living room had no bulb. Other than that it was clean and just as advertised! WE had a great time and loved the location and the nice beach. It was very easy to check in and had all the info we needed.
This condo is like a well-hidden pearl! It is very clean, very well furnished, spacious, and close to the beach. The people who rented the other condos at the same time were friendly and warm. It is peaceful and serene, a wonderful getaway. We were so pleased with how clean and inviting the entire island is.
We travelled over 16 hours by car for this rental, and were not quite sure what to expect. We were pleased beyond belief when we saw that the condo was as it appeared in the photographs, and as the owner had conveyed to us.
We rented bikes which were able to be stored easily in the parking area, and the condo is almost right in the middle of the island. It is quiet, not trafficked, and yet quite close to the ice cream parlour!
The owners were more than helpful in responding to our requests and concerns, and the rental company was very responsive to our needs.
This location and condo were a perfect fit for our family. The ocean front location made daily trips to the beach a breeze. The condo amenities made it a simple, easy stay-we could prepare meals, wash laundry, and keep our nightly bath routine. It truly was a perfec fit and a perfect location. The beach itself is amazing- our kids never got bored, and the island offers all of what you need close by. No one wanted to leave when our week was up.
