About Marie Yarborough

We have lived in Bar Harbor for many years now! Marie began working at the Jordan Pond House during summers, earning money to pay for college. After traveling to France to visit family, a road-trip across the United States, and finishing graduate school in Portand, Maine, she moved to MDI for good. Kyle came to Acadia after graduating from college in South Carolina. He planned to work in different national parks across the country. After working in Glacier National Park in Montana, he headed to Acadia for one season, where Marie and Kyle's paths finally crossed! The rest is history! We now own and operate a small bistro in Bar Harbor and Marie is a Ranger at Acadia. We feel lucky to call this amazing place home, and could not imagine raising our young family anywhere else.

Why Marie Yarborough chose Bar Harbor

This property is close to everything wonderful about in-town Bar Harbor, but still quiet and residential-the best of both worlds. You can sleep with your windows open and smell the ocean when you wake! It is modern, clean, uncluttered, and filled with all the amenities you'll need to make your stay relaxing. We have a personal and professional knowledge of the park and MDI, and would love to share our favorite spots to enjoy the park and island with you.

What makes this house unique

You won't find an easier, more convenient place to stay in Bar Harbor, if you are a family or a couple! You can walk to the Great Meadow Path right from the cottage, or hop in your car to access the Park Loop Road in 5 minutes, at the end of our street.

Perfect

This house very nicely met all our needs. It had plenty of room for the number of beds/intended number of people. It is clean, modern, and well located. It is just as described in its listing.

Enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean. Beds, linens and towels were all very comfortable. Plenty were provided in each room. Outside grill and all appliances worked great.

We didn't consider it much when selecting a rental but our kids absolutely LOVED the playhouse. They looked forward to playing in it daily.

The renter is local. We never needed anything but it was good to know we'd have someone to call if we had an issue.

Considerations:

- One bedroom is downstairs (2 twin beds). The other bedrooms are upstairs.

- No wine glasses or pint glasses.

- The walk to town /shore path is a bit long. We like that but we were familiar with the area we were renting and expected the walk.

Owner's Response: Thanks for letting us know we forgot to put wine glasses and pint glasses in the kitchen. We renovated the kitchen last spring and took everything out, and must have forgotten to put those back in. I have re-stocked the kitchen with pint and wine glasses for the 2015 season!

Great house & location

  • 5 of 5

We (my parents, my brother, my partner, our 6 months old baby and me) stayed at Chickadee Cottage at the end of July 2014. It was literally the perfect spot for us. The house is located in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance to the village of Bar Harbor and a few minute drive to the park entrance. The home itself was very cozy, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. We already recommended this place to our friends!!
