MURGIANO [Moor-john-no] - .MURGIANO is a XV century villa set in one of the most stunning spots on this Corsini estate and commands 360° views over vineyards, olive groves, and woods - a rolling landscape of classic beauty.
This XVth Century Villa is available for weekly/monthly rentals all year round. Bookings are only shown when they have been finalised.
Murgiano provides comfortable accomodation for 12 persons in 2 bedrooms/2 full shower/bathrooms on the groundfloor, 3 bedrooms/3 full shower/bathrooms upstairs, and a 6th double bedroom, topped with a mezanine, in the tower (boat-style wooden steps with handrails). Four of its 5 bathrooms are en-suite. Four of its 6 bedrooms have wall-fitted conditioner split units, as does the large, live-in kitchen upstairs.
Outdoor lounging space is plentiful, with remarkable views and a garden extending to Murgiano's infinity pool and beyond.
Salabetta's North terrace has a sunshade and a dinner table for 6 plus; the West patio has a round dinner table for 10, protected from Sunshine and possibly rain by a fitted awning, complete with mosquito netting.
In the summer evenings, when insects are around, the electric burner provided in each unit can be placed under the dinner table (indoors or outside), to double up the efficacy of the scented burning coils recommended. For the wellbeing of Guests, staff and pets we spray the grounds regularly, and provide each room with one or more plug-in tablet/fluid burners.
From Salabetta's lounge you can step up and through the double French doors into the Villa's portico, or take 2 steps up through the door leading into MURGIANO's Palagio apartment. .
This is the first floor of the Villa. Palagio's front door is 2 steps up from the south patio and Portico. As you enter Palagio, the unobtrusive, internal door to your left leads into Salabetta. The opening opposite takes you into a cloakroom for storing winter boots & coats, which also has a large spare freezer and a clothes drying machine.
Up 11 steps from the entrance is the main living floor of the Villa. This ancient staircase has a safe handrail, and a removeable sluice at the top to prevent toddlers from venturing down.
As you climb up your eye meets an old style kitchen, with beamend ceiling and large fireplace. A further look reveals it is also comfortably equipped to enjoy preparing and taking your meals. It has a ceiling fan and and a wall-fitted remote control conditioner unit. The windows are typically small, but there's natural light coming also from the skylight. From the top of the stairs you gain direct access also to Palagio's drawingroom - a 10 mt long, closed in Loggia with a wall of windows along Murgiano's front, overlooking the largest of the villa's 3 patios and the landscape beyond.
The antique furnishings include a dinner table for 8, a game table, and a lounging area for 12. An elecrically operated awning may be drawn over the windowed wall of the Loggia to screen your eyes from the bright Mediterranean sunshine.
Adjoining the lounge and kitchen is a central study, with doors to a large bathroom and 3 bedrooms, each with its ceiling fan and wall-fitted conditioner splits. Two master bedroomns, named after their furnishings - Columns and Baldaquin - each with bath/shower room en-suite and a roll out, spare, single bed. These bedrooms are large enough to accomodate a crib and/or a bar bed for any infant/junior visitors. The third bedroom on this floor is called Cypress, after the typical view framed in its window. This is a twin bedroom, with a ceiling fan and a wall-fitted, remote control conditioner unit; it shares the large, study bathroom with the Tower bedroom..
The Tower queen is up on the top floor: you climb 8 boat-style, wooden steps, holding on to a well secured handrail and find a charming though small two-level setting (more boat-style, wooden steps, and a well secured handrail). Here, too, is a wall-fitted remote-control conditioner split. There is also the roof's top beams intersection to be admired, as well as unforgettable, breath-taking views over the pool and grounds.
Murgiano is an all year round villa in that it is fully heated (October to April - one central heating unit per floor) and all the bedrooms have wooden floors. Palagio has elegant wooden flooring running along the length of the Loggia . Indoors the walls are white-tainted,or present their ancient stone finishing, and the ceilings are rustic tiled and beamed; all the windows are double-glazed, for added comfort, and most convivial rooms have handmade terracotta ('cotto') flooring, for a typically Tuscan flavour.
A few dozen steps below the Villa, past the the washing lines enclosure, is a modern, landscaped, 12 x 6 meter (40 x 20 foot) infinity pool, surrounded by olive groves, and a generous lounging area, closed in a sculpted hedge enclosure.
The pool is generally open from mid April till mid October.
