Summer showcases all the natural beauty of Northern Michigan highlighting the sandy beaches along with hiking/biking trails, fishing, golfing, ferry trips to Mackinac Island or sailing on Little Traverse Bay. An exciting trip across the wide span Mackinac Bridge will be memorable; the UP is a destination with many interesting sites to visit. There are so many opportunities to explore the out-of-doors.
However, in the evenings the area take on a new venue with enjoying the many gourmet restaurants, microbreweries, movie theaters, casinos or classic theater.
Both Harbor Springs and Petoskey have exceptionally beautiful 4th of July Fireworks displays and fun local parades. They can also be viewed from the picturesque Little Traverse Bay Golf Course restaurant. You will talk about the view from this location for a long time.
The early spring months offer the opportunity for a trip to Mackinac Island to enjoy the breathtaking view of the beautiful Lilac trees and festival. You may want to experience lunch or dinner on the Grand Hotel's porch and, of course, a little golf on their course and afterward some yummy fudge. Also, renting a bike and having a leisurely ride around the island is a must for first timers.
Morel mushroom hunting in the spring has been a popular activity along with enjoying the delicate trillium that grow abundantly along the North Country Hiking Trails/roads within walking distance. It is a beautiful time of the year to enjoy the drive through the tunnel of trees (M-119) on your way to Cross Village and a stop at Legg's Inn and the Three Pines Art Gallery. Wilderness Park has terrific hiking trails and a lovely view of Lake Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
If time permits on the way north, stop at the Pond Hill Farm for fresh veggies and a glass of their delicious wine and maybe some lunch. There are pigs, and other animals for the children to see and feed.
The fall foliage is worth the trip in itself. It is breathtaking from our deck looking onto the golf course;it is a photo opportunity. This is also a great time to drive the tunnel of trees.
Take a walk back into time visiting Horton Bay, the birthplace of Hemmingway. This little town has their very own unique 'bridge walk' on Labor day in competition to the 'big' Mackinac Bridge walk. Also, Hemingway spent a lot of time at Bayview and left the local people with many legends. Bayview also has a summer music festival featuring many well know stars including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra; don't miss their old-fashioned ice cream social in July .

About Marilyn and Terry Stocker
We are retired and enjoying life. We bought our 'home away from home' when our children were young. We enjoy skiing, sailing, hiking and out door activities with our family and friends and love northern Michigan. Our sail boat keeps us close to Lake St.Clair in the summer, however, we travel to Harbor Springs often. We would love to share this experience with you and family/friends. We also love to travel out west, south and of course north. We have had many trips across the ocean and renting our condo to others gives brings us joy in meeting new and interesting people. We both grew up in the east side area of greater Detroit and our children have and continue to share their travel and educational experiences/adventures with us. We wish this type of wholesome vacation environment will do the same for you.
Family and friends who play together stay together and have memories for a lifetime.
Marilyn and Terry Stocker purchased this condo in 1979
Why Marilyn and Terry Stocker chose Boyne Highlands
Over the years we have continued to make improvements and updates to the condo and we ourselves enjoy going up to visit 'Pure Michigan' and visit and entertain our many friends who have transitioned there in their retirement.
What makes this condo unique
The unique benefit is that it is a corner unit and remains quiet. It is on the commons with a beautiful grassed/treed area and is very close to the pool, club house, tennis courts, play area and hiking trails. You cannot duplicate the beautiful view at sunset. The deck is large enough for a dinner table for 8 and lounge chairs. It is sunny in the morning and shaded in the afternoon. A perfect destination after 18 holes of golf. The talked about '19th hole.' The views are spectacular.
