Nîmes is a town of art and history.
Known as Colonia Nemausa in Roman times, Nîmes retains many testimonies of Roman splendor and generosity of the Emperor Augustus as the "Maison Carree" and amphitheater to name the most famous, but also doors, temples, towers and ramparts; without forgetting, near the aqueduct and the Pont du Gard - World Heritage of Unesco - built in the first century of the Christian era that led the waters of the Fountain of Eure near Uzes to castellum ( water tower) located rue de la Lampèze. The city also has religious buildings, mansions, squares and prestigious museums.
