This Limousin stone farmhouse is located in a quiet and sunny hamlet of 'Les Monts d'Ambazac'. This house is in a 3.7 acre property. On the main floor, the sitingroom , a big kitchen and the shower room. A large amount of the furniture is antic. Fireplace - Internet Wifi. Upstairs 3 rooms, each one with its wash basin. You will appreciate the large (32'x20') solar-heated swimming pool without chlorine nor salt (bio-uv system). There is also an integrated automatic coverage for close it easily. Solar Shower - lounge chairs - Pool security. The solar heating of the pool gets an earnings of 6°C in comparison with other swimming pools around. In May June and September the temperature of the water is around 78.8°F. In July and August 82.4°F. Children are welcome. 3 unisex hybrid bikes are here or you.

The 'Monts d'Ambazac' are situated 25km in the north-east of Limoges. This big and little frequented Mounts, consists of forests and pastures. By walking, you will discover hamlets which hide themselves in attractive landscapes. Here the nature is always very present. In the Monts d'Ambazac you have the choice of lakes, sources and walks. Very few cars on roads. Riding bikes with children can be done from the house for long rides. The Ambazac tourist office will inform you on local sports activities (sailing, canoeing, tennis, horse riding). Special mention for the walk around the 'Tourbière des Dauges' (They give you a GPS to tell you points of interest along the way). Many great visits to do around (not far) : The Arboretum of La Jonchère - Moulin du Got - The medieval City of Saint-Leonard de Noblat. 3 supermarkets at 7km (Ambazac). In La Jonchère are sevral shops : bakery, butcher, and a little supermarket. You will also find local high quality foods on markets.

Activities: All children are welcome and there are lots of activities in the area (swimming/fishing/kayacking on the river, walking, bird watching, cycling, riding/trekking, tennis,) but teenagers looking for the bright lights will not find them very locally! Nearby there is horse riding 'Chatenet en Dognon', tennis in 'La Jonchère', swimming and pedal boat in surrounding lakes: 'Pont à l'Age', Ambazac, 'Saint Pardoux' . A visit to Limoges is essential. The capital of the Limousin region is famous for its fine and unique porcelain.

Not only is the Limousin famous for its nature, but also for the quality of its farm meat specialities: its chestnut pâtés and chestnut sausage. You will find all these specialities of local producers at the village of La Jonchère and in the markets. Not far away are also excellent little restaurants with reasonable prices.

Nature is waiting to be discovered for vacations full of charm in Les Monts d'Ambazac in Limousin.

The genuine countryside french way of life

Excellent. Nothing more than excellent for a bunch like us, a small family (parents and child) and two friends who likes to hike, ride a bike, stroll through dream villages (like Saint Leonard de Noblat), learn about history in nightmare villages (Oradour) and do some shopping in busy yet lazy towns (like Limoges, of course).
Although we loved being out, it was a pleasure come back home, where we could rest at a lovely garden deck, have a swim in the heated swimming pool and prepare a barbecue, while our child counted dozens of bike rides back and forward the road by the house (the only car came every week day by 9 o´clock, it was the mail man). Another pleasure was telling about the day to Mr. Hervais and, of course, preparing the next one (you shall always listen to M. Hervais tips).
Regarding the house. Just lovely for people who enjoy simplicity with a touch of country side living (and wifi connection). We often seated by the front door or delight ourselves with the the beautiful bedrooms window sights. We loved the first floor old wood pavement and the steep wood stairs.Two manageable problems, were the only bathroom and the lack of douche curtains.
We strongly recommend this house to anyone who appreciates the feeling of the real countryside and the genuine french way of life.

5 of us stayed at Alains property for a week, the house is very clean, and more importantly very cool in the sun. Opposite the house is a swimming pool that is just the right tempreture (not too cold) and a garden terrace with a BBQ which are essential for lazying away the days. The nearby villages have a good selection of shops however a car is needed. We would recommend this.

Ambazac cottage

This a "Ronseal" place - it does what it says on the tin. Myself, my wife and our two teenage kids have just returned from a couple of weeks at Alain's cottage. It's situated in a very quiet hamlet of about ten houses but there is a pool, which although is situated in Alain's place opposite, he was quite adament that we could use it whenever we wanted to, and there are also lakes to swim in nearby. This is definitely a place to come to relax and enjoy the scenery and there are many walks of varying difficulty to enjoy. Limoges is not far away as is the "martyred village" of Oradour. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone wanting to get away from it all.
