LARGE VILLA WITH ANNEX AND PRIVATE POOL IN PEACEFUL VALLEY WITH MOUNTAIN VIEWS.

Gualdo Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Sleeps up to 11 in 4 bedrooms plus 1 bedroom annex.

Il Vigneto is a charming 4 bedroom farmhouse villa with large private pool and double bed annex. The house sleeps up to 9 and a further 2 in the Little Barn. Rates for the main house are £825 to £1600 per wk.

The Little Barn provides a charming self contained annex - double bedroom upstairs, kitchen and bathroom below. Rates from £250 to £500 per wk -only available when booking Il Vigneto.

Fully restored with many original features Il Vigneto dates from 1790. As soon as you arrive the landscape dominates - set in rolling hills with a backdrop of the Sibilllini mountains this is a stunning location - 'like living in a oil painting' one of our guests commented. Il Vigneto is well away from other properties, set in 0.5 hectare on a south-west facing slope, and with vines.

Il Vigneto is well equipped, child friendly with stair gates, 2 cots, high chair, toys, swing slide and sandpit, and gated pool access. Delightful all year round, Il Vigneto is suitable for two family groups.

the locatity: Gualdo, a small picturesque village at 3km has café, restaurant, 2 village supermarkets, baker, green grocer and butcher, bank, post office and petrol station, and stunning views from the hill top location at 652m.

Sarnano 8km away, a well preserved medieval town centre with steep narrow alleys, has a good range of shops cafes and restaurants. The town is a spa, winter skiing resort and excellent good base for hiking in summer.

Macerata the provincial capital and university city is 40 minutes away. The historic city has an international opera festival during July and August in the Sferesterio.

To the east the Adriatic coast is 50 minutes away, south and west Rome is 3.5 hours by car, Assisi and Ascoli Piceno major historic and cultural centres are about 1 hour away.

Il Vigneto is situated in an area of natural beauty with extensive green rolling hills set against the Sibillini Mountains and the National Park, all together some of the most delightful scenery in Italy

the region: Le Marche is one of Italy’s best kept secrets. Prior to the unification of Italy, Le Marche was one of the Papal States governed directly by the Pope, “the Marches” meaning a border province of the Holy Roman Empire. The landscape of Le Marche ranges from undulating agricultural fields and vine clad slopes to snow-capped mountains and dramatic gorges. The mountains are calcareous in origin, producing the magnificent Frassasi limestone caves. There are 20 peaks over 2000m and several ski resorts in the area. The whole area is a walker's paradise with many mountain paths, guided walks if you require, and a stunning array of wild flowers to be seen. Le Marche is rich in historical-artistic and cultural heritage which has been preserved and unlike its neighbours Umbria and Tuscany, is relatively undiscovered and still unspoiled by tourism. Little English is spoken but the local Italians are very friendly and helpful, especially if you try to speak a few words of Italian.

A mosaic of ancient cities, rolling hills, dramatic mountains, hidden valleys and long, sandy beaches, Le Marche is an outstanding holiday destination. Every small hilltop village in this region has a beautiful church and a welcoming bar, but more than that, throughout summer and autumn each village has its local festa or sagra. This is a time to celebrate the year’s hard work and is usually based on produce from mushrooms, sausages, fruit, wine or chestnuts depending on the season. It is a time for eating and drinking, processions, music and dancing.

Rust en natuur!

  • 5 of 5
Toffe winkeliers in Gualdo. Lekkere restaurantjes in de omgeving en prijsvriendelijk.
Een plek om naar terug te keren. Marleen en Frans + 6 andere gasten.

A relaxing experience

  • 5 of 5
The villa was clean and extremely well equipped. We arrived late in the middle of a thunderstorm and torrential rain, but the weather had improved by the next morning and the views of the countryside and distant mountains were beautiful. The local town, Gualdo, was only a few minutes drive away and had all the shops you would need for basic supplies. We found the local people to be very friendly. There are lovely walks near the house and further afield into the mountains. Wildlife is plentiful, we saw a deer in the field next to the house one evening. There are lots of interesting places to visit in the area and leaflets and information in the property, but the pool was very tempting on hot days, so we didn't sight-see as much as we had planned. We had a very relaxing and peaceful week and found the house easy to feel "at home" in. The owners were very prompt to reply to queries, helpful and informative when making arrangements. I would definitely recommend this property if you want to get away from it all and you enjoy nature.

Beautiful house, unbeatable views

  • 5 of 5
Over the years we have stayed in dozens of rented villas across Europe, but this property really was in a league of its own. The house was charming and well-appointed, the views really were spectacular and there were many thoughtful touches which added immeasurably to our overall enjoyment of our holiday. One of these was a welcome pack of bread, cheese, wine etc, which, as we arrived late at night was very much appreciated.

The stair gates and the gated access to the pool were a Godsend, and we were impressed by the efficiency and helpfulness of the property manager, the charming Federica, who we called on for help accessing the Sky channels and to fix the dishwasher.

I would whole-heartedly recommend this property and hope to visit again.

Great Family Holiday at Il Vigneto

  • 5 of 5
From the moment we arrived this was the perfect family holiday. Il Vigneto is in a fabulous location, with very comfortable accomodation in a property full of character. Everything was very well prepared for our arrival complete with a very generous welcome pack of essential provisions. Even the babies cot was made up ready for a tired little traveller!! The views from the house across rolling hills to the distant mountains are fantastic. There are many local walks on a network of quiet sandtracks and the property is within easy driving distance of the mountains of the Mt. Sibillini group. In early June, wherever we went, and particularly in the Piano Grande and the surrounding mountains, the wildflowers were truely spectacular. The peaceful atmosphere, quiet roads and footpaths, and the friendly local people completed a brilliant holiday for the whole family (3 generations!!). Very many thanks to Roger and Linda - not forgetting also their very effecient local maintenance team!!

Il Vigneto

  • 5 of 5
We were a party of 8 (4 couples) and loved the well appointed, spacious accommodation provided. The views were truly awe-inspiring. We ate every meal al fresco on the terrace apart from the final night when we had a spectacular storm.

We made good use of our hired car and travelled to visit many interesting towns. Within a 2 hour drive radius we visited Camerino, San Ginesio, Fermo, Loreto, Ascoli Piceno - all worth seeing. Closer to the villa we enjoyed Sarnano, Amandola and of course Gualdo. We made a longer trip to Urbino and stayed overnight at Rimini, ready for a day at Ravenna - spectacular sights - Byzantine mosaics to equal Istanbul. Well worth the effort. We also enjoyed days out into the mountains for walking and visiting little mountain towns. Roads and driving were better than expected.

Local shopping in Gualdo was good - a particularly good baker and next door fruit/veg shop. Supermarket on same little street a bit pricey and limited but good supermarket in Sarnano.

Great to relax at the pool on comfortable and plentiful sun loungers - lovely to just lie and drink in the view!

The only downside was the fact that there were no level walks from the villa due to its being on a fairly steep hillside - but that's only a small price to pay for the unfit!

Highly recommended

IL VIGNETO

If you want sun, sand and sangria this is NOT the holiday for you. If you want total relaxation in idyllic surroundings, warm local hospitality, atmospheric villages and towns and views to die for - then book up now.

The villa is in one of the most enviable positions in the area - where else can you swim in a wonderful, private swimming pool with outstanding mountain views (complete with snow!).

Fond memories (and there are many!) include the breathtaking views; being woken up by the sheep bells every morning when the sheep are moved down into the valley and the pre-dinner drink outside (with wine from the 'house' vineyard) listening to Puccini as loud as you like with no fear of disturbing the neighbours.

It is a place that caters for young and old - the facilities for small children are excellent, sand-pit, swings, slides, tents, toys, all in a safe, enclosed area.

We loved it so much we are taking our whole family for our wedding anniversary in the summer!

Il Vigneto is located on a country lane used by agricultural traffic. In summer the local sheep pass daily moving from farm to pasture. The lane is part of an extensive network which provides delightful local walks to suit everyone - short or long circular routes exploring the landscape. Expect to see or hear birds of prey, song birds, wild boar, deer, butterflies and more.

Further afield there are countless hill top villages and towns to explore. Gualdo at 3km, Sarnano - 8 km, Macerata 40 mins- a university town with the renowned Sferisterio open air opera festival in July and August. Wherever you go you will find delightful villages rich in historic interest, set in stunningly beautiful landscape and always another place for coffee, lunch or dinner! - Penne San Giovani, San Ginesio, St Angelo in Pontano, Amandola, Ascoli Piceno, Fermo and so on. And within an hour's drive the Adriatic coast offers sandy beaches at Porto San Giorgio, shingle at Porto Novo.
