La Clergerie is set in a pretty butterfly filled valley in the Marais National Park on the Cotentin Peninsular, North-West Normandy, close to the village of Le Mesnilbus, bordered by local farms, close to all amenities, and 20 mins from the sea. Built in 1706, this traditional 'mas et pierre' farmhouse with oak beams and many original features, won two awards in 2007 for its landscaped gardens, with pergolas and ponds and is bordered by a small river. Available as two self-catering rental units, consisting of the major part of the beautifully restored farmhouse, with vaulted ceilings, summer sitting room overlooking the gardens, satellite TV and galleried reading area, and two bedrooms sleeping 4-6 people, both en-suite, with optional third bathroom. I had a great stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for out host and we had a great time. We managed to see lots of the sites as the house is set in a great location - close to the beach and the picturesque market towns. The highlight for me, was sitting in the hot tub with a cold glass of wine and taking in the calm surroundings.

Escape to the French countryside

Review Submitted: June 26, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We stayed for a long weekend (5 day break). The host made us feel extremely welcome and even cooked for us on request. The food was all made with fresh home-grown vegetables - fantastic! Room was immaculately clean and had great character. Although in the country, the beaches are just a short drive away as well as the markets and towns. The accommodation is set in amazingly scenic surroundings and we had the perfect end to our trip -an evening in the jacuzzi eating fresh strawberries, surrounded by beautiful countryside. I would love to go back!
