Jim Meadows and Joni Leeper are brother and sister who grew up in San Clemente, Ca. I moved to Maui in 1987 and the family came to visit a year later. While on vacation the family spent time in Hana and fell in love with it. Shortly after vacation our Mother Jackie as well as my brothers all moved to Maui. We bought property in Kihei as well as Hana. Mom lived out the rest of her life in Hana, and we got to enjoy the family property over the years. Now, Jim and I are managing the property and my husband Craig and I live here in Hana full time. We are blessed to call this our home and look forward to sharing this wonderful part of Maui with many.
Joni& Craig Leeper/ Jim Meadows purchased this house in 1988
This was always our 'getaway' from the other side of the island, and to spend time with our Mom. A beautiful property with a stunning ocean view and the quiet serenity that Hana always has. A family home with a lot of love.
This property is know around town as the house with the bridge! It sits on a half acre full of tropical flowers, fruits, and singing birds. Across the street is the Hana ranch and we see cows grazing and pheasants nesting. A huge banyan tree across the street shades the driveway as you pull into the property.
We two spent with another couple just 4 night there(luckily).the place was sold like a flat with two rooms but actually it has only a big nice room with a king bed)and another queen bed put in a corner with no room at all to move around ,looking on a street(with seeing through curtains )ON THE WAY TO THE TOILET,so we didn't have any privacy at all.the other thing is that the place was quite dirty, nobody swept the floor not mopped it.the grill was all burned we could'n t use it.the wash machine was installed the day we left.hair dogs floating everywhere and the 3 beasts upstairs were bumping over our head, even at night.we tried to sit outside but dog's hair were falling from the terrace above .the owner was friendly and he agreed to give us a discount but the all thing was embarrassing and uncomfortable.we all four were quite happy to leave.i honestly say that I would have preferred to pay the regular daily price than having discussions and a bad mood among us.hana is beautiful but for the second time and year I must say the average standard is poor.i hope there will be improvements.
We were two grandparents with daughter and husband and two grandkids age 5 and 3. The place was fine. We had good directions from the airport, and as we did some shopping prior to leaving Kahului, we arrived late, but found the place without a problem. Craig met us on arrival and made sure we got in O.K. The place met all our needs, and we usually ate two meals a day there. I liked mornings on the porch with coffee watching the day come up. During days we borrowed some of the beach stuff and there was plenty to choose. Joni and Craig had to be away for most of our stay, but we had their phone #s if we needed anything, and that worked for us. I liked having the internet available in such a remote place and could keep all my stateside contacts current. There probably was more to do than we did with the two young ones, and it was nice to not have a lot of folks around like a condo. The house is close to the road, but the traffic is minimal and while I thought the driveway might be a problem as we had a van, it really wasn't. We've been to Hana in the past (30years ago) it hasn't changed that much compared to other parts of Maui. I would book with Joni and Craig if I returned, they made our stay pleasant.
Nice house located few minutes from Hana bay. Owner have great knowledge of area and provide all kind of gear (boards, bikes, snorkeling gear e.t.c).
It is also few super friendly dogs in house ;)
We (me, my wife and three kids) stayed here just after Christmas and had a GREAT time. The hosts were wonderful, even coming out to welcome us when we arrived early in the evening after our trip from the airport. The accommodations were everything we hoped for, a nice kitchen with refrigerator, large master bedroom and room for the 3 kids in the 2nd bedroom and pull out sofa. Getting local knowledge of where to spend our day was an added bonus along with the boogie boards (kids enjoyed) and towels for the beach. If you are looking for a place to stay in Hana, I would highly recommend checking this place out.
Thanks again for the wonderful stay, you helped make my 50th birthday one we will always remember.

We were 6 of us, grandparents, parents and 2 kids 9 and 7. It was nice they offer up to 6 people to stay, most 2 bedroom places allow up to 4. The bathroom is inside of one bedroom which was ok for the family, but maybe not for 2 couples. The best thing was Craig and Joni were so nice and there were so many beach toys for guests to use for no extra costs. Especially tandom bike was a hugh hit in my family. The location of the house was very convenient. Because of those pluses, I would stay there again.
We greatly enjoyed our brief stay at Craig and Joni's home. We cooked tasty meals, sat on the lanai, helped ourselves to fresh passion fruits from the vine outside, and enjoyed life. It was a perfect base to explore Hana and East Maui. The hosts are onsite and were so helpful with anything that came up, such as replacing an empty propane tank on the grill. Highly recommended, though keep in mind that it's a residential neighborhood and you have to be OK with waking up to the sounds of dogs and roosters.
