Our family is native Hawaiian. Both grandmothers were born and raised in Hawaii, with both grandfathers having migrated from Portugal. My parents were born and raised in Hawaii. I've raised my children in Makaha. My adult children range in ages from 32-41. They too have raised their children in Makaha. The photo is of some of the grandchildren, who as you can see love this home. We all invite you to experience Makaha, enjoy our island, live in our home, and take back a piece of Aloha with you. By the way, we still live here in Makaha, only 5 minutes from this home.
Sharon Fountain purchased this house in 2005
Makaha is a beautiful place, and is a part of the Waianae Coast. In the past, people were told to stay away from Waianae, because it's 'scary' out there. Well, it's not, we've lived in this community for over 50 years. Our Hawaiian people are kind, thoughtful and caring. They will not hesitate to share their ALOHA with you. People help people in Makaha. Do we have a drug problem, yes, do we have homelessness, yes, do you need to be afraid of it NO. Drugs and homelessness is an epidemic every where. That is just a fact. One needs to be smart, and not take foolish chances, for sure, but one need not be afraid of the people in Waianae. E Komo Mai, (meaning welcome). Makaha used to be the best kept secret, but word is getting out, and travelers come afar to experience our West Side of Oahu. I hope you will too.
We fall in love with the Ocean and the Mountains on a daily basis. Life is beautiful in this Makaha Beach home. Drive past this home for 5 miles, and experience the famous Yokohama Beach, and Kaena Point. Kaena Point provides some awesome hiking, and experiences. People both local, and visitors come from all over the island to bask in the sun at Makaha Surfing Beach or Yokohama. An experience hardly defined by words, this is Makaha living.
Also available to travelers looking to have a wedding or anniversay or large event, is a second 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms house. For pricing and details to book the entire property, call or email the the owner at fountainsm@yahoo
Makaha is country living, clean air, beautiful mountains, fabulous beaches, amazing golf, and many water activities. This house will provide you with front row seats to any and all surfing meets, without ever having to leave your front lawn. Turtles and a variety of species of fish use the water frontage and reef as home. During whaling sealing, which is between December and May, whale sitings and watching are a daily occurance. Whales travel in pods along the coast during this season. Makaha Surfing beach is also home to many dolphins who love to play with swimmers. Koolina, our nearest resort, and home to Aulani, the new Disney Hotel provides dining, shopping, and resort living, and is just 20 minutes from Makaha. Just a few minutes from Koolina is Kapolei, the newest developed city on the West side of the island of Oahu. Koolina is full of ethnic restaurants, and shopping to meet all of your needs. Department stores such as Target, Sports Authority, Ross's Petco, Down to Earth, Home Depot and Costco, Jeans Warehouse are all in Kapolei. One never need leave the West side for any of one's needs, but if the famous Waikiki calls you, then it is at least an hour's commute during non traffic times. Waikele is our closest outlet mall and is about a 40 minute drive from Makaha.
