Overview

Camden Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2

A warm and comfortable cottage backing up to a little brook on a quiet wooded lot just 2 miles from downtown Camden, and .7 miles from scenic Megunticook Lake on Maine Route #52. This really is a simple country cottage, but it has everything needed for a genuinely, comfortable, rural vacation. The kitchen is fully furnished with gas range, refrigerator, and even an air-tight wood-burning stove. The the front door opens into the dining/living room which is very comfortable with a genuine oriental rug, a gas furnace, a gate-leg table with dining chairs, a lazy boy recliner, and a sumptuous antique rocker that you'll want to take home with you, both of which can be focused either on a large picture window facing the brook and woods, or on a television with Time Warner Cable. (Owner recommends the woods!) The cottage also has internet and e-mail access via Fairpoint. The bedroom has a very comfortable double (full) bed with a 2,5' memory-foam topper, and with excellent reading lights on the book-case headboard. The full bath room is off the bedroom. It has an over-sized stall shower. The back door opens into a mud room-entry- clothes-closet. The bedroom and dining/living rooms both have wide-pine naturally finished floors. Should it be chilly in Maine during your stay, the cottage is heated by a fully automatic, Empire LPG furnace.

About Brian & Negar Smith

Brian & Negar are friendly, educated readers.

Negar is a retired nurse; Brian is a retired teacher, principal, superintendent of schools.

Feel free to join us for tea and talk sometime. Brian is a 4th generation Camden lad with a great knowledge of the area to share with guests: where to go, what to see, what to do, where to eat, where to drink and dance, etc.. After teaching high school in Scotland, 1975-77, Brian moved to Iran where he met and married Negar in 1978, and just 17 days after their marriage, Brian and Negar found themselves in the middle of the famous Iranian Revolution which began in 1977. So you see there really are some interesting things to talk over with that most excellent cuppa tea! Come along: spend a vacation with us and not a fortune!

Move to Maine

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I needed a place to stay, as we have relocated to Maine, and our new place was not available. We were thrilled to have such an adorable, clean and comfortable cottage to call home for 9 days! Brian was very accomodating and friendly, making us feel like more than guests. Make this your home while visiting Maine.

Cozy and Great Location

  • 4 of 5
This small cabin - with two outbuildings to boot, one with a bed - is a surprising reveal. It has simple but adequate amenities - the towels were a delightful surprise and we found most everything we needed - except a washer/dryer. The owner was attentive and responsive. The location, just up the road from Camden and down the street from a large lake, was ideal. Not your gussied up rental but a great find at a great price.

Owner's Response: Ahh...we love "happy campers!" Thank you.
Would love to install a washer-dryer, but the septic system just can't handle the water. We do have a wonderful, new full-service laundry just 1.5 miles away, though, and they do wash-dry-and-fold, as well as self serve, and drye cleaning.

Relaxing stay.

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this cottage in Camden. It is a small old house that was spotless and well equipped. The owners live nearby and were wonderful. There is a farm stand walking distance up the road for fresh produce and eggs. The next time we need a place to stay when visiting nearby friends and family, we will return to this cottage. Thank you for a great stay.

Owner's Response: Negar and I are always pleased to discover that our travelers have had a good experience in The Cottage; it makes our "retirement project" even more worthwhile. Brian

  • Lovely bedroom in cottage as shown. This location is also a great place for kids to pitch a tent too. (And...it's a very safe neighborhood!) There is a great field for tenting, with a safe fire-place to make it a real camping experience (yes we have wood), while parents are very comfortable inside with a complete view of all the 'camping' activities from the living room window! BdRm 2 is a little sleeping cottage out back (hardly a bedroom), but a very nice double (full) bed for a 'spill-over' guest.
