NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOME. BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL. YOU WILL FEEL GOOD BEING HERE.

Stockbridge House Rental Photos and Description

Newly Constructed. Modern Home Bright With Natural Light And Beautiful Carpentry

We call this house 'South Sedgwick' because of its location on a piece of land formerly used by the Sedgwick family for picnicking--an ideal spot for relaxation with stunning views of Monument Mountain and Ice Glen.

The house is newly constructed with ash hardwood floors, custom white pine trim and mahogany decks. The interior has an open-concept floor plan inviting abundant natural light. Custom built-in features include a handmade nook bench looking out over an expansive nature preserve, a vibracustic hydrotherapy spa tub, an upstairs coffee porch, and more.

We have a first floor master suite. If you require handicap access please contact us regarding your needs.

Beautiful, big back yard opens into 11 acres of wooded land, where the Konkapot brook runs nearby. For those with a sense of adventure, trek through the woods and use this brook as a push off spot for leisurely kayaking through nearby rivers with gorgeous natural vistas. For the less experienced adventurer, there is an easily accessible kayak push off .1 miles away. Toward the western border of the house lies scenic railway tracks, now concealed by forest. The historic train station is only .3 miles away.

This prime location is in the center of the cultural epicenter known as the Berkshires. Nearby attractions include: Tanglewood, Berkshire Theater Festival, Naumkegg Gardens, and Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival.

“A true gem. New and beautiful with incredible space and wonderdul amenities, right in the heart of Stockbridge”

Our family of 5 rented this home over July 4th weekend and we couldn't have been more pleased. The home has just been newly renovated, is very tastefully appointed and looks and feels brand new both inside and out. It also has every amenity we could've hoped for, such as state-of-the-art kitchen appliances, wi-fi, cable TV plus Netflix, dual zone central air, a nice gas grill, multiple outdoor decks and seating areas, even motion sensing waste baskets!- and it sits on a very large, well manicured and secluded swath of land, even though it is centrally located literally just moments from downtown Stockbridge. The home had more than enough space for all of us - in fact, it could've accommodated double our number quite comfortably. Although there weren't any children in our group, the home is great for kids, featuring a kids bedroom and an ample supply of board games and toys intended for guest use. In addition to how lovely the home was, I can't say enough nice things about Teva, the owner. Teva made sure he was there to greet us when we arrived, so he could walk us through the house and show us all the property has to offer. He even put out wine and cheese for us! He was extremely down-to-earth and friendly, taking the time to answer our questions and give us recommendations for activities in the area. He even offered to let us call him over the weekend in case we needed more suggestions or information about things to do. As special as the home is, Teva's warm hospitality made our stay all the more pleasant and enjoyable. We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this home to anyone interested in a high-quality Berkshires getaway!

Nick and I bought this house in 2007. I was eager to learn about building and Nick an old friend, who at the age of four had asked for a tool belt for Christmas was willing to help. We started to plan a renovation of the old house and realized while we were assessing the amount of renovations that were going to be necessary there really was not much we could save. Nick and I then went through a painstaking slow process of deconstructing the house by hand hoping to find something to salvage. In the end we tore it completely down and built the house back up with our own hands. Using the best quality materials and Nick's eye for design, we constructed an amazing home that we are proud of. The story of the perseverance, hard work and creative ideas that went into this house is truly uplifting and you will feel that way while staying here.

We loved the location. Walking distance to downtown Stockbride with a large piece of land. Right in the center of the most happening places in the Berkshires. A drive to Lee, Lenox or Great Barrington is about the same. Less than 10 minutes.

We love the views from this property. We were excited when we found out the Sedgwick family used to picnic on the land because of the unique views.

The many outdoor seating areas are truly special as is the bright and modern inside.

Such a wonderful house to vacation in. The pictures of the house don't do it justice. It's so incredibly beautiful. The sleek, modern look so relaxing to be around. The house was spotless when we arrived. It very comfortably fit the 12 in my family. The owners really went all out w quality of mattresses, pillows, comforters and towels-they were all so comfy. We all really felt pampered there. The furniture was all so pretty and great quality. Teva and Peter were super friendly and welcoming. We were shocked to walk in and see a nice plate of cheeses and champagne! It was just so sweet of them and so nice to eat after a long drive. They had a wonderful array of (food) seasonings, which was so nice to not have to go out and buy. He also went through. the trouble of cutting fresh flowers for us, which was so nice. They also had a great selection of board games, markers for the kids and soccer/footballs for outside. Having netflix was also so nice for everyone to watch movies at night. The house was about a 2 minute drive into town, which was so convenient. My family hopes to have the chance to once again visit Stockbridge and stay at this house.

wonderful berkshires week with family

  • 5 of 5
This house exceeded out expectations! Teva was the most wonderful host, answering every question and concern immediately. He provided excellent info. about the area.
Great attention to detail was exhibited in this home. It was new, clean and beautifully appointed and very well-stocked. It was large, yet homey at the same time. The location was perfect for our berkshire explorations. It was close to tanglewood, great barrington, swimming and restaurants. We have no complaints..only praise. Thanks for a great week Teva.

We came for a week in a party of five adults and a 2yr old. The house is new, beautiful, spacious and filled with high-end appliances, TVs, sound system, grills, etc. It even had a play tent for the 2yr old. We especially enjoyed the large well equipped kitchen for making family meals. The yard is large with lots of flowers and a substantial vegetable/herb garden. The welcome service – wine, cheese, fresh eggs, etc. was a fantastic surprise. Peter and Teva were extremely accommodating and helpful.

Fabulous!!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have been coming to the Berkshires for years. We either stayed in a motel or a b&b. This year we took a leap of faith and rented a room for a week. What a great decision that was! This home was exactly what we wanted! the house is mint, brand new, modern and pristine. the backyard is beautiful and sitting on the deck and barbequeing made it seem like our own vacation home.

The house is very centrally located and within walking distance of downtown Stockbridge.
All the major highlights of the Berkshire are minutes away by car. We always stay in Lenox and were concerned, but it wasn't an issue at all.

Teva was away when we were there but his dad Peter was extremely accomodating. If anything minor came up, he was on it immediately. And he greeted us with a platter of cheese and crackers, fruit, wine and champagne!! Wow!! American Yankee Clipper never did that!

I also want to mention that if you are into music, the sound system is great and will make you envious of your own!

I really can't say enough. I can't wait to return next year!!

History of Stockbridge:

Stockbridge was first settled by English missionaries in 1734. The town has a tradition as an art colony. The sculptor Daniel Chester French lived and worked at his home and studio called Chesterwood. Norman Rockwell painted many of his works in Stockbridge, home to the Norman Rockwell Museum. James Taylor lived and sang about Stockbridge in his song sweet baby James.

On the border of the Province of Massachusetts Bay there lies a gentle valley indented by low, wooded mountains, each of a contour strikingly unlike its neighbor. The river of this 'Happy Valley' hesitates and lingers on the edge of that luminous, green bowl of forest and meadow, mean- while changes her accustomed dancing, vivacious step, and walks serenely in a curved path west and north across the lovely plain of Stockbridge, tracing a double, willow- fringed ox-bow, on which the birch canoe must travel five times as far as the horseman who rides from bridge to bridge.

This Taconic-Hoosac bowl in which Stockbridge lies was a home of the Mohekanew or Muh-he-ka-nuk, the people of the continually flowing waters, who, in past unknown suns, ranged far northwest. Here 'mid the softer hills of the Green Mountain range the tube told the hours of the day by mountain shadows, the sundial of the savage. Wnau-ti-kook is the first to become wrapped in shade as the sun falls below her summit. Above Rattlesnake or Deowkook- Hill of the Wolves- stands the north star, their compass of the night, whilst Orion served as their clock. Captain Konkapot's name for Rattlesnake Mountain was Mau-ska-fee-haunk when he indicated the north boundary of the tribe's lands of 'Housatonack [1] -allias Westonhook' - deeded to the whites ' in consideration of Four Hundred and Sixty Pounds, Three barrels of Sider and thirty quarts of Rum. ' The north line of Westenhook patent probably ran within half a league of the enchanting wild-wood park on Mr. Daniel French's estate at Glendale.
