Interaction with Guests
I am very sociable and also respect folks' desire for privacy and relaxation.
The neighborhood is quite lovely and peaceful with many mature oaks, and plenty of deer and squirrels. And so conveniently located to Gruene (10 minute walk, 3 minute drive), the Guadalupe River (15 minute walk, 5 minute drive) and I-35 (2 miles).
Park in the driveway at the house. You are a ten minute walk to Gruene or 15 minute walk to the Guadalupe river. Parking is free in Gruene and included with the river outfitters.
Other Things to Note
Let me know if you have any special requests or needs and I will do my best to accommodate and make arrangements.
I hail from Philadelphia, PA (The City of Brotherly Love) and grew up north of there in the beautiful Lehigh Valley, Allentown (think Billy Joel song) and surrounding environs.Over the years I moved south and then west, developing my career. My first move was to Virginia Beach, VA, then Beaumont, TX, Knoxville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Los Gatos, CA, Laguna Beach, CA, Newport Beach, CA, Oakland, CA, Marina Del Rey, CA, and San Jose, CA.
During my 12 years in CA, I bought a log home in Stevensville, MT (near Missoula, MT-have you seen A River Runs Through It?) and then the home in Gruene.
In the fall of 2012, I left the country to work in Iwakuni, Japan and returned in Spring 2013 to live full-time in my Gruene home.
I work full-time as a Senior Scheduler for a professional services firm that does Turbine retrofit/replacement, repair and maintenance at power plants.
Over the years, I have traveled quite a bit for both business and pleasure....let's see.....domestically I think the only continental states I haven't spent time in are Vermont and New Hampshire (but, boy-o-boy, sure want to!) Yes-I've been to Alaska and Hawaii. Internationally-Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Galapagos, Barbados, Egypt,Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Greece, Australia, Japan. If connecting through other airports counts, there's more! lol!
I like to take a holiday out of the country once a year when I can.....Barcelona, the Maldives, and New Zealand are on my horizon.
My favorite activities are snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, back country camping, listening to live music, hot tubing, and swimming.
Gruene is a pretty awesome place to call home, I hope you will come and stay and see for yourself.
I hope that I can bring all my great traveling experiences to your great experience at the Gruene B&B!!!
Gruene is a wonderful, quaint, historic, charming German-Immigrant town settled in the 1850's with Texas's oldest operating dancehall (Gruene Hall), the Gristmill, and numerous other fabulous shops and restaurants. And tubing, rafting, or kayaking the Guadalupe is so close!
