Finca El Albero is a luxury three bedroom House, guest House and pool set amongst orchard gardens, waterfall and palm trees. With amazing views down to the coast and created from an abandoned farmhouse, this lovingly restored and improved holiday home incorporates much of the original features of beamed ceilings and wooden floors. Now with up to date luxuries this house makes for a fantastic 'get away from it all' holiday' but close enough to town for all essentials. The main house has two double bedrooms (both with AC); an adjoining luxury bathroom; a sitting room with a dining area; an air conditioned entertainment room with HD Satellite 42' TV, Home Cinema & Music System; a modern kitchen, dishwasher and fridge freezer; wireless Internet access; and a music system for al fresco dining and swimming pool area. The Guest House is air conditioned with twin beds and en suite luxury shower. Many quiet areas can be found in the extensive gardens affording shade from the midday sun.

Gardens, BBQ and terraces: The properties are surrounded by extensive terraces capturing sun or shade at whatever time of day. Adjoining the secluded swimming pool there is a large barbeque and shaded dining area perfect for day time and evening alfresco living. The gardens designed and built by award winning Chelsea Gardner are planted with ornamental trees, flowering shrubs and a variety of fruit trees, including banana, fig, lemon, cherry, avocado and the owners are quite happy for these to be picked by the guests throughout the year. Considerable thought has gone into creating the external living space whether it be day or evening time. The terraced areas can be lit at night to create the right ambiance for dining or just socialising. A waterfall in the orchard and pergola together with sweet smelling plants add further ambiance to this. Although there are many local restaurants the property is fully self contained having a fully fitted modern kitchen with large fridge, dishwasher, oven and hob.

Location: You approach this rustic property from the main town of Coin and through the orange groves of the Guardalhorce region. The road to the Finca although tarmaced is single track with passing places. La Finca El Albero is approached through a gated portico covered in bougainvillea and climbing roses then into the huge driveway in front of the property.

The costs include a weekly maid service, who will clean the Finca and change the bedding. Additionally a Gardner will twice weekly tend the garden and clean the swimming pool. We have our local housekeepers on hand for advice or help and any emergencies. We can also arrange a welcome pack for your arrival, so as your holiday can get off to a hassle free start.

Why Bob Brittaine chose Coin

Finca El Albero, formerly called the Stone House (as it’s built from the local stone) came into our lives as a result of us both visiting a property exhibition in Milton Keynes. We didn’t know at the time that a brochure containing an advertisement of partly reformed property, was eventually to become our new holiday home.

On arrival at Malaga we were met by the agent who showed us a range of new properties before arriving at the Stone House. At first sight we both fell in love with what was a 150 year old cottage, set in over grown and run down, large piece of land.

The next 3 months comprised the purchase and arranging the finishing of the building work and adding a swimming pool. This was both an education and at times an alarming experience. Picking the keys up in August 2001 was a huge delight and with credit cards at the ready, we spent a fortnight kitting out our new home, to be ready for a big family Christmas gathering.

Since 2001 we have continued to add to and improve our home by for example, developing the gardens, with help from my brother, an award winning horticulturist. Adding Home Cinema, Ipod Docs and Wifi too, enabling anyone staying there to keep in touch with civilisation, whilst relaxing.

Finca El Albero is a home, not a holiday home. The fittings and finishes installed are of a high standard, cared for by our housekeepers Mike and Gill. Additionally, the gardens which need equal care and attention are cared for by Bartolme’ our local Spanish “friend” and having got to know him well over the years has invited us to their celebrations including his daughter’s and son’s weddings.

Originally the Stone House and now the Yellow House (Albero is the colour of the sand used in bullrings) our Finca gives us great delight whenever we go and we sincerely hope that those that spend their holidays there, are as equally delighted.

What makes this house unique

Why do the Spanish leave their old properties to go to ruin? And even if they do redevelop them, typically they would tear down the old and replace with new. Finca El Albero is fairly unique in this respect. We are told it was left abandoned and rat infested for nearly 30 years as the family that owned it, could not agree what to do. That was until a local British builder saw the potential, tracked down the owners and purchased it. Then running out of money he put it up for sale as an unfinished partly reformed Finca.

Preserving as much of the original character as possible, this old house has been transformed from a wreck and a jungle of a garden all brought back to life now with its own orchard, vines, wild flowers, palm trees, flowing bougainvillea, waterfall and cactus gardens.

The Spanish inheritance laws are such that parental properties are left to all the heirs resulting in family struggles over ownership. In a changing Spanish society, where using small holdings for crops is becoming rare the typical option is to try and sell to a developer, if the family can agree or if not, abandon the property.

Finca El Albero we are pleased to say, is a success story and we hope that the transformation is pleasing to all that spend a holiday there.

WONDERFUL LOCATION WITH FANTASTIC VIEWS

This villa has everything you could need for a relaxing holiday, all facilities are as described, the gardens are very well kept, the pool area was immaculate with a great pool. Everything was perfect, the wifi was essential with two teenagers and the house was so full of character we didn't want to leave.
Coin is a lovely town with plenty of shops and restaurants close by and we have stayed in other villa's in the area, this has been the best one by far. Finally Elaine the housekeeper was very helpful as were Bob and Denise.

Great Place to Stay

The Finca is a great place to stay if you are looking for a break away from the tourist trail. The house, gardens, pool and BBQ are all very well presented and a great area to spend a holiday.

Recommend going to El Chorro, Adventure Golf in Fuengirola and Peurto Banus. For a good meal try the Bohemia in Coin or the Argentinian Grill in Peurto Banus or just fire up the Barbie!

Our family have just returned from a gorgeous relaxing break at La Finca el Albero..The gardens are beautiful and diverse with lots of hidden away seating areas. The house is charming and full of creature comforts and the entire place is very spacious for 6 people.We also loved the outside lounge area which is perfect for a bbq. Bob and Denise have put so much love and thought into the place which really pays off,have been super helpful (5*s) as have their lovely housekeepers Gill and Mike. We did the holiday without a car and enjoyed the walk into the pretty town of Coin.......WONDERFUL

Best holiday home ever!!

We have stayed in this Finca for 4 weeks (3 sep-3 oct) and enjoyed every minute of it! We would like to recommend it to everyone who is looking for a holiday home in Spain. The weather was perfect so we spent most of the time outside, at the pool or at one of the terraces, but even with bad weather this house is a great place to stay. The spacious and cosy living rooms, the kitchen with all equipment, the bedrooms with super comfortable beds and last but not least the private casita which is great for visitors' or kids' privacy and comfort.
The garden and pool are in perfect condition. Thanks to the very friendly gardener. He made friends with our 2 years old son... from fresh fruit from own garden to his dog or even his little horse one day...each time a new surprise!
Bob and Denise provided excellent service, they were always easily to reach and willing to help. We feel so lucky that we have found them and were able to enjoy their house! Now we are back in Holland again and really miss 'our' Spanish home...

This romantic Finca El Albero is located close by the old Spanish market town of Coin in the Guardalhorce region of Andalucia and is renowned for its market garden produce, especially oranges, lemons and avocados. The centre of Coin is 10 minutes walk away from the Finca and has a good range of resturaunts,shops with a market every Saturday. Just outside Coin is a newly built shopping mall which includes a cinema, night club and bowling. With its central location, Coin is close to many other amenities such as golf courses, beaches, water parks, Selwo natural safari park, natural parks, botanical gardens, zoo and much, much more. Towns such as Marbella, Puerto Banus, Ronda, and Gibralter are all easily accessible.

Golf: There are many Golf courses on the coast. The nearest however, is a brief 15 minutes drive at Alhaurin.

The Casita is self contained with two single beds, shower and toilet. The Casita is also air conditioned. This separate accommodation, within a few steps from the main Finca, is ideal for children whose parents want to give them a little bit of independence whilst on holiday. It would also suit friends and other family members such as grandparents for a similar reason. For relaxing there is a range of entertainment systems. Entertainment inside the property includes a surround sound cinema system and a library of DVD movies. In addition there is a Satellite TV system with access to High Definition channels. You can play your own music through the Sony music system via an iPOD connection or access the CD library. Outside there is also a music system for the pool area and covered dining area. If you wish to get away from everyone and into the garden there is a portable music system or an iPOD docking station for use with your own music. Wireless broadband access is also available.
