A tranquil retreat and serene setting ~ All white walls and Bird's eye maple floors, French doors, fireplace and windows to the floor capture the magical, refreshing attitude that is Harbor Springs ! Decorated in a rustic and contemporary style, an easy house to live in and relax ! Living, dining and kitchen in open floor plan ~ French doors and floor to ceiling windows make viewing the forest outside ~ you may even see some deer !
Or step out onto a wooden deck and dine al fresco.
The bird's eye maple floors run throughout the house,
even in the kitchen and bathrooms, giving an almost Shaker ~ ish, clean contemporary feel. A study off the living room can be used for TV watching, an office, or a private get away, with garage adjoining. A small quest bath, has a surprise ~ real autumn leaf wallpaper !
The second floor features 2 bedrooms, decorated in red and blue quilts and rags rugs. The front bedroom has a double bed and 2 glass V shaped windows, giving the feel of being in a tree house. The second bedroom is large enough to have a small log sofa and footstool ~ great for curling up and reading a book ! A large bathroom in between has whimsical blue and white hand batiked wallpaper and a large round window for viewing the scenery while you shower !
A quick walk or bike ride down our curvy, tree lined street to the town of Harbor Springs and an exquisite beach just moments away all make this lovely home a gentle surprise !
A native New Yorker, I designed and built my home
on magical Glenn Drive ! Now a Fashion Designer, I return to rest and recharge, and hope you will too !!
There aren't many streets that rival Glenn Drive, for it's sheer beauty, yet easy proximity to town !
The location of this home is part of the beauty, as it is a 5 minute walk to town, past beautiful neighborhoods. A wiggly, tree lined street takes you to the charming town of Harbor Springs, where a breathtaking Harbor, excellent restaurants and boutiques await ! Visit the Historical Society ! Water sports galore ! Northern Michigan is know for it's challenging gold courses also !
For a must see road trip ( one day ) to the North is Pond Hill Farm, kid friendly, and beautiful ! Their restaurant and winery all farm to table delicious.
don't forget to take a jar of their Dilly beans home ! Further on, the breathtaking Tunnel of Trees drive, in some places 100 feet above Lake Michigan, which takes you to the town of Good Hart ~
( stop at the original Good Hart General Store ~ great pot pies !! and Primitive Images Design Studio next door, an authentic log cabin, for a yummy crepe from the Crepe Wagon !! ) Then wind your way up to the the town of Cross Village to see the legendary Legs Inn Restaurant, with incredible views of Lake Michigan from their outdoor garden and patio. Further North is the Mackinac Bridge with ferry service to Mackinac Island and the Grand Hotel !
To the South, you have the larger town of Petoskey, with a movie theatre, Crooked Tree Art Center, and all the amenities of a larger town... from there, don't miss a visit to Bay Harbor and Charlevoix !!
