THIS HOUSE BECAME A TV STAR IN OCTOBER 2007! IT WAS FILMED AND FEATURED ON THE HOME AND GARDENS TELEVISION SHOW.....(HGTV)....'HOUSE HUNTERS.' TAPING OF THE SHOW OCCURRED IN OCTOBER, 2007, WITH THE PROGRAM BEING RERUN WITH THE TITLE 'LOOKING TO GET OUT OF THE COLD!'....SO IF YOU DECIDE TO STAY HERE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE WHERE YOU STAYED ON THE TELEVISION SHOW! THE SHOW OFTEN RUNS IN RERUNS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR! In the meantime I say....Aloha, and Mahalo for your interest in our wonderful Big Island vacation rental. I know you will enjoy the Panoramic ocean view from all rooms of this first class oceanfront vacation house, which will take your breath away... As well as the spectacular views of the daily sun rise while laying in the master bedroom and the moon beams at night on the ocean!
SOME RECENT GUESTS SAID IT BEST.....just wanted to let you know we definitely did not regret our decision to stay at Oceanfront! It was definitely our favorite of the 4 places we stayed on the Big Island this trip. The view, the waves, the peacefulness, the proximity to such beautiful places - wow! We even liked the fact that it rained briefly a few of the mornings so we could sleep in and relax a bit! The house was so comfortable with all the details thought of!...Mahalo'
'What a jewel of the world your place is! We spent 9 nights and each day was better than the last. Amazing sunrises, a moon rise that lit up the ocean, and the best snorkeling right from your front yard! Our kids had a blast in the tide pools and even saw an octopus! We hated to leave and we will definitely be back! Mahalo for letting us stay at your house.
MARTINI POND, which is a tidal pool in your front yard, has geothermally, volcanic heated water flowing into it and it mixes with the ocean water for a soothing blend that you will feel wash over you as you swim in this unique ocean pond! A short walk through the neighborhood gets you to Hula Cove with beautiful coral and large schools of a huge variety of fish...even turtles!
We try to pay attention to your every need, with beautiful Polynesian decor, bamboo ceiling, granite kitchen counters, and shoji doors. A honeymoon delight or a place to rejuvenate oneself. An ideal place for snorkeling in the many lava tidal pools as Vacationland is now a Marine Fish Reserve. Spend time in Martini Pond for your daily dip, shower off, and then go for a walk around a neighborhood that is like a botanical garden filled with flowers, trees, and foliage. A recent guest told us it is like being in the movie Jurrasic Park! During whale season, November through April, you can hear their tails flap from your deck.
Located on the east side of the Big Island known as sunny Kapoho, you are a one mile drive to thermal hot ponds, Kahena Black Sand Beach where turtles typically hang out and rest, awe inspiring scenery as you drive through the Hawaiian countryside, and so much more. Take a day trip to Volcano National Park for hiking through a wonderful park with lava tubes, craters, trails restaurants and more! Golfing is nice by Volcano as well as in Hilo. Plan to take the short drive to Hilo and spend the day. The Botanical Gardens are sure to impress! Be sure and experience the local cuisine in Pahoa, just 8 miles away! While in Pahoa, make the Tin Roof Bakery one of your stops! To experience local culture at it's finest, every Wednesday evening is an event at Uncle Robert's in Kalapani. Local musicians, dancers, and a Farmers Market. Bring your appetite as the food vendors are unique and delicious! This oceanfront vacation house is in an ideal location to experience the pristine undeveloped east side of the Big Island in luxury. MAHALO! I HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Sam and I visited the Big Island for the first time in 2013. We found a people who were very hospitable to us and immediately felt a sense of belonging. Escaping from the winter of Alaska, who could resist the warm tropical breezes, the most amazing snorkeling in the world famous Wai Opae tide pools, and above all, the million dollar view from the lanai...not to mention the sunrise! Coming to stay at the house is a respite from all the crazy things going on in the world, the stresses of work, and life in general.
Carol Plancich purchased this house in 2014
There are some places in this world that are magical, and Kapoho is one of those places. On our visit early this year, we enjoyed our oceanfront stay so much, that we only left to go to the grocery store to stock up, so we didn't have to leave our paradise for a few more days! We just wanted to hang out and relax and swim and snorkel with the turtles and everything else that lives in the ocean! Our first vacation ever, that we came back totally rested and renewed! It is one of a kind, with special qualities that make it an ideal place to visit, live and play. There truly are, no other places like it! The ultimate place to get away from the hustle and bustle of crowded tourist areas. Featuring also, a quiet and friendly neighborhood.
The view from the lanai has been described by dozens of visitors to Oceanfront as the 'million dollar view'. You have to see it to believe it. The ocean shows different qualities every day. In fact, it changes by the minute. From its majestic purples, royal blues, to its golden hues it puts on a different show each day. With tide pools to snorkel in, first class accommodations, and the ocean right out your door, I truly can't think of a better place to stay while you take advantage of all the wonderful things to do on the Big Island.
This was a great rental, and everything was as posted. You are right on the ocean, seconds from the water. The warm water tide pools are fabulous. The unit was clean and well stock with all the essentials. As a note, there is no cell service and no "long distance" on the local land line, so make sure to have BLACK JACK installed on your tablet o/phone to make phone calls which worked out well, and forward your cell calls to your Blackjack number, just FYI. The town of Pahoa has everything you need and some great local restaurants. We met a lot of nice people on this 3 week adventure.
My husband and I had the best time relaxing, and exploring the east side of the island!
We are planing on possibly renting the home next Year!!!
We loved the home it was like being home!!!
Carol, we loved staying in your home!!!

We really enjoyed the amenities and view from the house. The lanai looks out onto the tidal pools that are almost at your feet. Everything you need is there...including some basic cooking supplies. Each day began with a personal Kapoho sunrise and then a very short walk to the tidal pools for some snorkling! Close enough to enjoy a night viewing of the glowing Kilauea crater and enjoyable visits to the Hilo and Puna markets. Definitely a worthwhile stop while on the Big Island!
Beautiful view from the lanai, easy walk to tidepools for snorkelling. A cozy home with 2 separate bedrooms made it easy to put the kids to bed and then play cards in the lounge. Kitchen had everything we needed, including good knives for food preparation, and lots of plastic containers for storing leftovers or taking picnic lunches. There were even a few food items in the cupboards and fridge for us to use - oil, salt, pepper, etc.
The house is right on the ocean and the view is spectacular. The house is in a very nice, safe and quiet neighborhood. The house is enclosed in a beautiful fenced/gated yard. There are no curtains above the kitchen sink which would have been nice to have as a new house is being built right next door. We really appreciated all the amenities and supplies the house had. It felt like home. We were able to do some laundry in the washer and dryer provided before we headed for another week on the west side of the island. The bathroom sliding door bottom roller was missing and as we did not want to force the door to close it, we left the bathroom door open. We were thrilled there was Wi-Fi even if it wasn't super fast and seemed to skip out on us at times. We did enjoy a bicycle ride on the bicycles supplied with the house.
The house is on the east side and closer to get to Volcano National Park than if you stay on the west side of the island. We also enjoyed the Botanical Gardens north of Hilo. The Hilo's Farmer Market is wonderful.
We were on the Big Island for two weeks. Our stay at this unit in Kapoho was superb in all respects. The unit is a dream, the location is beyond excellent. It's so easy to just relax on the lanai, enjoying the views and ocean breezes that one could miss all the wonders that lie nearby. A few steps from the door to unsurpassed snorkeling, a short drive to wonders galore. Even an unexpected bout of insomnia provided a dramatic display of the night sky without the "light pollution" so prevalent elsewhere. The owner was a delight to work with from initial inquiry to questions that arose while at location. Would without hesitation recommend it to friends and repeat a stay there if we return to The Big Island.
Volcano National Park is an easy drive and a very impressive day. Explore the Lava tubes and walk among foliage which reminds you of Jurassic Park! Hot ponds just one mile down the road are a great place to soak and watch the sunrise! Farmers Markets, and a must experience is to visit Uncle Roberts in Kalapana! Two golf courses in the Hilo area and one by Volcano...not bad courses compared to ones in Alaska! Oh! and don't forget to take time to walk on the lava flow. If you are lucky enough to be visiting when the volcano is erupting, watch it fall into the ocean!
