|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
With one bedroom plus a sleeping loft and one bathroom, this cabin offers an unparalleled view of the Rainbow River which can be enjoyed from the hammock, the hot tub, the outdoor dining area or the patio area. This family-friendly rental sits at about the midpoint of the river and is bordered by the Florida State Greenway.
The cabin is ideal for the nature lover. Spring brings the blue herons to nest in the cypress in front of the house. You can see the different creatures as the day progresses: ducks in the early morning, blue heron fishing at mid-day, the hummingbird and otters in the evening, and the owl at dusk. Nature provides an ever evolving show right from the comfort of the deck.
Activities include swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, and everyone’s favorite: tubing down the river. The spring water is 73 degrees year round so if that's not to your liking you can enjoy the screen enclosed hot tub overlooking the river.
The cabin has one bedroom and a sleeping loft and is suitable for up to four. Families of more than four are discouraged but may be considered on a case by case basis for an additional charge. Come enjoy the natural beauty of this gem the locals affectionately call the' Blue Run.'
My wife, our dog, and I have been here for almost five weeks, and we could not be happier. We have the cabin through the end of April, and expect that we will be just as happy for the remainder of our time. From the first time that we spoke with Dwight, he has been very helpful, accommodating, and very easy to deal with. We are enjoying the cabin, the river, and the area in general. While we have developed our personal favorites, every restaurant where we have eaten, has served us good food along with good service. The area is very easy to navigate, and depending how adventurous you are, there are plenty of things to see and do, while making nothing more than a day trip. The river is peaceful, relaxing, and provides plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities. It's also nice to interact with people who are enjoying the many types of water activities that the river supports, and, if desired, the kayaks and paddleboards at the cabin make it easy to participate in those same activities. Sitting on one of the docks in the afternoon and early evenings while enjoying your beverage of choice, is a great way to finish a day.
I've been going to the Rainbow River for over 40yrs, and this was my first time staying ON the water....
We used to have a weekend home near the Blue Run Cabin many, many years ago. The Rainbow River is my "Spiritual Place" if you will, and when we found Dwight's cabin available for rent, I couldn't wait to finally spent 24/7 on the greatest waterway in the world (in my opinion). The cabin was perfect in every way and even had a spot on the dock to park our boat for the week. I too asked if I could invite people over as it was Labor Day week/weekend, and Dwight informed me that the house is on a septic, it's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home not meant for huge gatherings as the septic couldn't handle it and having a big blow out would put an overload on the tank. I told him maybe 10 people is all, and that's about all we had. Everyone was in awe of the house, the water, the location and all wanted to know how they too could spend time there. My dream had come true. Dwight is NOT a difficult person to deal with. He's up front and honest about his expectation of his home and expects the same in return. If you're looking for an amazing vacation, at an amazing location, on some amazing water...don't hesitate on this one or someone else will get your week.
Thank You Sir for giving me one of the best weeks of my life...every day I woke up and felt privileged to be there.
The house was clean and nice and it had everything you could need in the kitchen. The outdoor area was awesome and it is on a relatively quiet area of the river. Other areas can be a little congested with houses and docks. We definitely plan on going back!
What a beautiful setting. The cabin is just as pictured. Small touches such as nature reference books and binoculars make the stay that much more enjoyable. The river is unbelievably pristine. Dwight is more than accommodating. We will certainly make reservations for next year.
The property was exactly as the photos suggests. The house was clean and well maintained and the backyard was fabulous. Our stay would have been perfect if not for property management. We stayed over a holiday weekend and asked when making our reservation if it would be okay to have a family gathering for Labor day. The property manager came to the house during the cookout and berated me in front of my family for having them over. He actually called me a "millionaire want a be" for renting the property. His actions were very hostile and upsetting. The reason for renting the property was to host a family get together since I live out of state. We were very up front with him when we made the reservation. Again, this was a family gathering not a keg party. I have rented numerous properties from both HomeAway and VRBO. This was the first time I have issued with the owner.
The place is beautiful and perfect for friends/family. We had a lot of fun on the kayaks and paddle boards. The place had everything and Dwight was very helpful and very friendly. This place is a must and we hope to go back again soon!
