Guest Book September 2007: ' We had amarvellous time in Ireland, and Brittas Bay was a perfect base for touring the countryside. We were delighted with the accomodation - very comfortable - a home from home. Friends asking about our holiday have said that we must give them details, so you may recieve some enquireys. Thank you again' I. and M. Morton Belfast 'Just a note to say that we very much enjoyed our week in the cottage, it was very well appointed, and well situated for getting around from - including meeting up with old friends living in Dublin. You ask for comments whether positive or negative - and really most everything comes under the positive heading. Your help in enabling us to stay on for a little longer on Saturday morning was much appreciated. I guess we could find no quibbles that go beyond the need to check any wood you buy is seasoned and dry. But overall - a lovely holiday. Kind Regards Arthur.' England, October 2007

Perfect Holiday Location

zorro1 London
Review Submitted: March 14, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
My mother and I have just arrived back after spending a week at the wonderful Cottage in Brittas Bay Village. The Cottage was in an ideal location. It was spacious, clean, warm and welcoming whereby Lydia had ensured that every attention to detail had been provided for.

We had a wonderful time exploring the local area such as, the beach (selection of shells proudly sitting on my bathroom shelf!), the little village shop (freshly baked coissants every morning) whilst I also embarked on a horse riding adventure at Bonagrew Stables managed by Grainne and James (wonderful people). The local pub Jack Whites serve high quality homemade food and a trip to Arklow is an ideal place to purchase some 'real' Irish presents whilst getting some advice and information in the tourist office just before the town's memorial statue.

We also ventured out to Dublin City where the organised bus tour from O'Connell Street was great. Sites such as the Guinness Factory, GPO Building, Trinity College, Kilmainham Jail and the Writers' Museum entailed a range of knowledge and history. The organised tours have something to offer everyone from the artist, the writer to the liberator. We even treated ourselves to see a play at the Abbey Theatre which was fantastic.

Every visitor to Britas Bay must arrange a day's drive to Glendelough and follow the path trail to the upper lough which is absolutely breath taking (make sure you wear your walking shoes and take refreshments). For the more adventurous drivers head up towards Roundwood which is the highest village in the whole of Ireland even though there is a local dispute as to where the highest pub sits! Ask the Landlord Jurgen.

My mother and I saw some amazing places and met some wonderful people during our holiday at Britas Village and within the surrounding communities. Everyone we met was so warm and friendly. One week wasn't enough as there is still so much to see and revisit so I will definitely be going back in the summer.

Many thanks Lydia.

A fabulous week in Brittas Bay Cottage - thankyou

Review Submitted: June 3, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We have just returned form an amazing trip to Ireland the weather and accomodation were first class. We loved the cottage which had every facility possible. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the kitchen was just great with everything to hand. The sun shone for us and we loved sitting in the garden which is secluded and quiet with so many birds to enjoy and listen to.
The evenings in the cottage were especially nice as we made use of the log burning fire which was super and cosy.
Our party was made up of all ages and all our needs were met especially with the sky tv giving us access to the latest cricket/rugby/football scores and results
The owners were so helpful and really took care of our needs a special thankyou to Lydia for her exceptional kindness, interest and route planning.
The cottage is in a great location with access to the N11 and M50 which suited us fine. Any one wanting good golf courses will love this venue.
We walked along the beach regularly which was beautiful and unspoilt.
Access to Wicklow and Arklow is good but you do need car for these trips. This suited us as we were travelling into Dublin and then using the LUAS tram which is really good and thanks again for the holiday guide in the cottage which is very useful and accurate.
I would recommend this cottage to anyone as it is spacious, clean, comfortable, convenient, relaxing and welcoming.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind words with regards to our holiday cottage. It was a pleasure to deal with you, and we were thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us. It was a pleasure to help out with your route planning, all part of the service !

Short break in February

Aine UK
Review Submitted: February 15, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
The cottage was very clean and tidy upon arrival and the directions we had been given were very good. We were shown where all the heaters and mains switches etc were so heating was not an issue, neither were extra blankets etc as all these were in the airing cupboard. The cottage is in a quiet location and not far from the beach which is beautiful.

We do not have any complaints about the cottage or the hospitality when we were there, everything was fantastic, just wish we could have stayed a little longer.

McDaniels in only open Thursday to Saturday for evening meals and on Sunday for lunch.

Jack Whites is open every day until 8:45pm for meals and until about 11:30pm for drinks

A very good break was had by all and I would recommend this cottage to anyone.

With the madness of Christmas over, our trip to Wicklow & Dublin seems like a distant memory! We just want to say how much we enjoyed our stay in your cottage; it was well appointed, cosy and had all the mod-cons we required. Being able to walk to the beach was great, the 2 local pubs served up great meals along with a chance to meet some of the locals. Our trips up to Dublin to meet up with old friends worked well & we brought home some great memories. Thanks again for all the information with regard to local amenities.
We'll definitely be back again.
Best wishes, Val & family.
