We searched all over the state of Montana for property but when we saw the view of this home on the cover of Home Seekers magazine in 1994 we were awestruck. We have loved every minute of every season in this beautiful home while we vacationed with our two children.
We LOVED our stay at the Echo Lake Retreat during the week of July 4th. There was plenty of room to spread out in the home - with our 3 children (ages 15, 11, and 7), as well as a visit from my parents for one night.
The home is very clean, nicely decorated with a cozy cabin feel, and well equipped for a weeks stay. The beds were very comfortable and had higher end linens. The washer and dryer were a big plus for taking care of the lake towels and swimming gear. We also liked that the home has two levels with a bedroom, bath, and living area downstairs which allowed for separation/privacy when needed. The only thing we noticed that perhaps could be improved upon, would be the upstairs bathroom shower drain, as it took a very long time to drain.
The location on the lake is second to none! Quiet and with the most beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains (in fact my Instagram photos I took while there have inspired a few friends to visit Echo Lake next summer!) With two docks, one for swimming in the bay, and the other for boating activities, it was perfect. We used the provided canoes and kayaks daily, and rented 2 wave-runners - the large dock easily accommodated everything. The owners provide an entire storage area with tons of life-jackets, floats, deck chairs, etc for your use during your stay- A+. Echo Lake was warm, a lot warmer than the surrounding lakes, and even with our family coming from AZ, we swam and played in the lake all day every day!
The owner, Candus, was a pleasure to work with. She always responded promptly and was very professional - booking was a breeze! Thank you Candus for opening up your home to us and for a week of super fun memories! We hope to return again!
We spent a week in July here and really enjoyed this lovely home. The house is in excellent condition. We especially appreciated the large deck and dock, kayaks, canoes, and other swimming and boating equipment. We also enjoyed the lovely bedding, new grill, and well-equipped kitchen. The view is stunning. The home does face the busier part of the lake with lots of skiing and boating out front. The only thing we wished for was an indoor dining table for puzzles or poor weather dining, but the outdoor dining was lovely.
We stayed in July 2014. This is a beautiful home on the East side of Echo Lake in an area where the water always stays fresh. We spent the days, everyday, on the dock swimming and sunning. The upper deck was amazing. At anytime of day there was sun and shade. You could choose where to set up your lounge chair and every spot has a beautiful view of the lake. You won't be disappointed with this rental. The cabin is well equipped and in new condition. The owners are very attentive to your requests and very easy to work with.
The price is a little higher than the usual rental in this area but worth every dime !
The view from the deck is memorable. My wife and I, and our two boys had a great vacation, we wish we would have stayed even longer. The house had it all - plenty of room to spread out. Kitchen had everything we needed, with a very nice grill. We all enjoyed the kayaks and canoes, the lake is fun to explore. The boys caught fish right off the dock. Bigfork is a nice little town, and the Echo Lake Cafe is also excellent - I think the huevos rancheros were the best I've had. We will try to make it again, need to see more of Glacier Park. Thanks Candus!
Loved this lake house! The view was amazing and the owner was exceptionally sweet and helpful. The house was clean and the bed very comfortable!! Having access to two kayaks and canoes made the stay even better. We can't wait to go back:)
What an gorgeous cottage with incredible views! Took our two young kids here (9 and 6) and had a blast! Perfect lake for boating, swimming, canoeing, or just enjoying the incredible views of the sunrise or sunsets. Loved hanging out on the beautiful lake with the mountain views. We had a great day trip to Glacier National park which was only about a half an hour away... Had delicious breakfasts at the Echo Lake Cafe. Took the kids fishing off the dock almost every evening and caught tons of fish. Went on an amazing hike near by at the Jewel Basin and saw some gorgeous alpine lakes. The cottage was perfect for us-the kids loved the bunk bed-loft, great open kitchen/living room with a large picture window for views of the lake; giant deck, and there is room for another family on the lower level. Can't wait to go back next year!
Glacier National Park is only 35 miles away, it's a short drive to the Jewel Basin hiking range, and there are 2 ski resorts nearby. The charming town of Bigfork is a 10 minute drive where you will find wonderful restaurants and shops as well as live theater at The Bigfork Summer Playhouse.
