Welcome to this gorgeous lakeside estate nestled in the town of Dover, NY in the foothills of the Berkshires, 15 minutes from Kent, CT. This exceptional rental includes exclusive use of the estate's private 35 acre lake.
Perched on a peninsula along the shores of Lake Weil, this stunning 4-bedroom contemporary home offers spectacular lake views from nearly every window.
Pack a lunch and paddle to White Rock, located across the lake (canoes and kayaks provided). Hike along wooded nature trails and look for wildlife. Fish for bass, perch, and sunfish (White Rock Preserve at Lake Weil is a licensed NYS fishing preserve). Challenge friends and family to a game of ping pong or pool in the barn's game room. Further afield, browse through unique shops in one of the nearby towns, or sample wines at one of the region's award-winning wineries. Or, just lounge in the sun and enjoy the serenity of this secluded paradise.
Prepare breakfast in the Spanish style galley kitchen and savor your morning coffee in the adjacent sun room. Relax with a soothing glass of wine on the second story balcony off the master bedroom suite. Enjoy self-prepared meals in the open dining room (table opens to seat 10). Kick back and watch TV (46 inch flat screen) in the spacious, sun-filled living room. Play a rousing game of chess or cards in the cozy den overlooking the lake. Wind down at the end of the day in the 2-person jacuzzi tub. Sleep soundly in one of the 4 tastefully furnished bedrooms (sleeps 11). In the morning, watch the swirling mist roll along the surface of the water.
Spring highlights include bald eagles, osprey, kingfisher, nesting red shouldered hawks, and a wide variety of migrating ducks. In the summer, look for fox, raccoon, and deer. Fall offers breathtaking views of Schaghticoke Mountain, part of the 2,180 mile long Appalachian trail. Winter provides opportunities to snuggle up near the wood stove, snowshoe along trails, or try your hand at winter track identification.
Ideal for family vacations, a group of friends looking for an escape from urban living, or special events.
This is part of a family compound that dates back to the early 1900s. At that time, Joseph Weil, a teacher from New York City, began bringing students to camp in the area. This led to the development of a childrens' camp, Weil's Whispering Pines, and the creation of Lake Weil.
John Fila purchased this estate in 1910
