Galveston House Rental Photos and Description

Our 104 year old home is in the prestigious East End Historic District of Galveston Island. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs and 1 extra-large bedroom, plus a loft upstairs. All rooms (except loft) have ceiling fans. The downstairs area has Central H/A while the upstairs has quiet window air conditioners. There is a flat screen smart TV in the living room and one in a downstairs bedroom, both with Dish and Netflix. The loft has a flat screen TV as does the large bedroom upstairs. Both have Dish as well. WIFI is provided. Linens and towels are provided but we ask that you bring your own beach towels. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make a meal or a snack. All dishes and cookware plus a microwave, toaster, 2 coffee makers, electric can opener, crock pot, electric skillet, mixer, and blender. Our garage will hold one car or truck and several motorcycles. There is a laundry room in the garage. We provide a large beach umbrella, swim noodles, boogie boards and skim boards for your enjoyment. When you come back from the beach, hang your towels out to dry on our large front porch overlooking the neighborhood, enjoy some dinner and then play Twister. It's hilarious and we'd love to see some Twister Pics on our FB page, Google +, on Instagram, and Twitter. We are centrally located on the Island approximately 9 to 10 blocks from the beach and 9 blocks from the Strand Historic Shopping District. We are only 2 blocks from UTMB, with the Cruise terminals and deep-sea fishing charters very close as well. We love our furry family members and allow pets on approval. There is a small fenced yard so they can 'play' outside. When you arrive, you will find a book with menus from some of the restaurants on the island as well as directions to where the locals eat and also information on Galveston beaches. We are blessed to have our home so close to 3 of the Island's favorite restaurants. We are a very short walk away from The Sunflower Bakery and Cafe', The Mosquito Cafe', and The Original Mexican Cafe'. All three are great places to congregate and eat and all three are local favorites. Now there is a new kid on the block getting rave reviews....Smooth Tony's Juice Bar and Grill. Only 5 blocks from the house with great food and live music on the weekends.

About Shelley and Lee Plunkett

We are transplants from California. That is us on the right and our good friends, Pastors Jim and Kelley Boyce on the left. We've been in TX for 13 years and have made this state our home. We love the beach so Galveston was a natural choice for us when we chose our historic vacation house.

Why Shelley and Lee Plunkett chose Galveston

When we bought this house, it was in terrible shape. It had good bones but the outer stairwell, porch, decorative fixtures, and siding had to be replaced and painted. The inside needed plenty of work just to make it livable and the garage was nothing but sand. We thought we would renovate it and rent it to UTMB students but....Hurricane Rita hit and changed everything. It took months to renovate the house instead of the weeks we had planned on. By the time we were ready to rent it, we were attached to it and wanted to keep it a vacation rental so we could use it when it wasn't being rented. So far, that strategy has worked well for us.

What makes this house unique

We love the neighborhood and our vantage point from the front porch which sits 8 feet off the ground. Having the Sunflower Bakery just a block away is a dangerous advantage if you have a weakness for yummy things. It is nice to be able to walk to nearby restaurants instead of driving. At night, we like to take our pups for an evening walk and look at the old homes which are lit up and very romantic. Our house is central to everything but off the beaten path. We love it here and we think you will too.

The house was amazing! We had four groups and none of us could hear the others when in our rooms!!!
Good location. I would definitely stay here again!

One major perk……having a lock box to keep the key in!!! Who ever came home could always get it….it was nice!

Beautiful home

This rental property had it going on! It was close to Stewart Beach by vehicle and you have the option of a few restaurants to pick from that are all delicious, and those where just a small walk away. The area felt safe and no one felt uncomfortable at the house or while walking. As far as the house itself, it did have a side yard, but i wouldn't have let my kids play outside without me in the area, so there was no kicking the kids (ages 4-8) outside, but the house did have a large second floor porch and that was a nice shady spot they could go. As far as space, you could have a tad more in the "living areas" but hey, the rooms are large, beds are comfortable, and everything is clean and taken care of. You are provided with practically all you need for a nice and comfortable vacation without having to pack your whole house! The instructions on arrival and departure are very well thought out and informative. I would definitely go back to Galveston and stay here! It will be a home where our family shared great memories!

Adorable beach house in the middle of everything!

My group of 13 adults fit wonderfully in this house. It was very comfortable, and the beach themed decorations were adorable. Because of the flexible sleeping spaces upstairs, we were able to accommodate all of the sleeping requests - bed, futon, air mattress, etc. This was right around the corner from several restaurants and a delicious bakery. We were about a mile from the beach for a nice early morning/late evening walk. We were also close enough to walk downtown one night and to the Bishop's Mansion one afternoon when we were sunburned. Shelley was very kind and easy to work with. I highly recommend this place and will probably search it out for our next group trip.
