Large 1 bedroom apartement in a typical Paris stone building, wooden floor, very sunny, 5th floor, lift, the charm and comfort apartment in a lovely neighbourhood. 3 minutes walk from Métro Ménilmontant, direct to Pigalle and Montmartre; Bus 96 direct to Marais, Notre Dame, Seine Riverbanks, Montparnasse, 10 Minutes to Père Lachaise. Books, CD, DVD, basic groceries and household materials available.
I have stayed in many rental apartments in Paris over the years, and I have to say that Benedicte's apartment in Menilmontant is my absolute favorite. More beautiful than the pictures, spacious, clean and definitely the best equipped of any apartment I've rented. I cooked dinner for the first time in Paris, and had everything I needed. There are numerous books, movies, cd's, etc. Benedicte is so helpful, I was already familiar with the neighborhood (it's my favorite in Paris) but she is available to help anyone find their way around. Highly recommended!
We could not have had a better time at Benedicte's lovely apartment. The apartment was clean, very well appointed, and just as light filled and charming as the pictures indicate. Benedicte could not have been more thorough and solicitous, and we really felt welcomed and at ease in her space. We didn't know much about the Menilmontant/Belleville area before booking the apt, but we ended up being so happy we chose to stay here. The neighborhood is vibrant and lively, culturally very diverse, and genuinely friendly. It is not in the direct "center" of town, but all of that is very accessible via the Metro and bus system, which we had no trouble figuring out and using. It's a great neighborhood to walk around as well. There is a lot of really great street art in the area, Pere Lachaise is close by, and Oberkampf, which is very close by, is a fun area for bar hopping. That being said, the street the apt is on is actually very residential and quiet at night, which was nice as well. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
This apartment and the helpfulness of Benedicte were an absolute joy. She was very quick to respond to e-mail and streamlined the reservation process. Her directions to the apartment were clear and easy to follow and upon arrival she met us and even supplied maps and travel books for Paris. After she got us settled in in and familiarized she even went with us to return our rental car which was a major boon in that it was very difficult to find and our French language skills are poor at best. At the end of our stay Benedicte was both punctual and helpful and we felt we were parting with a dear friend.
The apartment was far greater than our expectations; very tastefully decorated, large and airy, great light, charming Parisian rooftop views, comfortable bed, plenty of linens, lovely and varied books, music and movies, superb entertainment system, land-line telephone, balcony off of the bedroom, well supplied kitchen/pantry, good appliances, quiet building and street, good security, elevator, nearby Metro stop (Menilmontant), several supermarkets, a beautiful church at the end of the block with lovely bells and on Tuesday and Friday an open-air street market at the other end of the block.
The only limitation is the tight bathroom and even tighter shower stall; if you're wider than normal you won't fit, period. Two little things that we would've liked would've been to know the land-line number and to have had discount-program numbers for the adjacent supermarkets. Other than that we can't think of a thing that wasn't delightful during our stay and would highly recommend this let to anyone.
To sum it up we didn't want to leave and can't wait to stay here again!

We have just spent another wonderful week at Benedicte's lovely apartment in the Menilmontant area of Paris. The tasteful furnishing, excellent facilities and superb transport links make this apartment the perfect base for us to explore the city. It is always impeccably clean, comfortable and quiet. It is particularly useful to have the use of WiFi here to allow us to hook up our netbook to plan our days and book tickets etc. This year we made more of an effort to explore the local area on the higher ground at the top of Rue Menilmontant and around Belleville and found some lovely spots; in particular the stunning views of the city from the high point in Parc de Belleville. The church of Notre Dame de la Croix is certainly worth a visit in itself. We consider ourselves very lucky indeed to have found Benedicte and her delightful apartment and will certainly be returning as often as we can.
We have just returned to Australia from our 4th sojourn at Benedicte Surun's spacious apartment. As on previous occasions it was clean, sunny, quiet and welcoming. The Menilmontant area is interesting, with few tourists but very cosmopolitan. Shops, banks, the post office and reasonably-priced restaurants are close by, as is transport by bus and metro. There are also parks, artist studios and local fresh produce markets to explore. And with such a well-equipped kitchen, cooking is no problem.
The apt. is close to the Metro, so daytrips to the heart of the city are easy. It is also a ten minute walk to the fascinating Pere Lachaise cemetery. The apt. was clean, comfortable, with interesting views from the windows and balcony. The friendly owner was very helpful in setting up the reservation, and, once we arrived, showed us the nearby grocery stores and other services. I would hope to be able to return to this apt. again.
