We are Molly, Alan and Shepard Renshaw with Baby Girl Renshaw coming in June! We have loved living and raising our son in this house but needed a little more space for our growing family so we've moved to a three bedroom house.
We are both Los Angeles natives which seems to be rare! Molly grew up in the Valley in Toluca Lake where her family still lives, while Alan spent his childhood in Santa Monica Canyon.
Molly went to Skidmore College in upstate NY and lived in NYC as a modern dancer and Pilates teacher for 10 years after that. Alan went to Reed College in Oregon before graduating from UC Berkeley. He is a computer consultant, builder, landlord and painter.
We are both passionate animal lovers, cooks, artists and parents. We're thrilled to share our beloved home with you.
Molly and Alan Renshaw purchased this house in 2000
Location location location! You can't beat it - such an easy walk to Abbot Kinney, Rose Ave, the beach as well a giant Whole Foods Market. It's such a cool, quirky gem of a house in such a great neighborhood. Venice is so special with its diverse population and the combination of beach town and hip urban mecca.
Alan bought the house in 2000 and completely remodeled it himself in 2007 keeping the charm and feel of the original structure (like the original hardwood floors). Instead of a bunch of tiny, low ceiling rooms, he made an airy, open floor plan. He raised the ceilings 5 feet, put in a brand new kitchen and cool architectural quirks to make the house very unique, like sky lights, asymmetrical windows and the best claw-foot bathtub ever!
The property is unique because from the street it looks like nothing but behind the fortress walls is a private, bamboo lined, hidden oasis. It's very cozy and quiet at night despite the bustling neighborhood. However, on Sunday mornings if you open the front door and windows, as an added perk you’ll hear the beautiful gospel choir belting out hymns from the Baptist church across the street. You’ll also get an energetic sermon from Pastor Davis for free!
