Villa Lana is a large detached villa with flexible accomm. suitable for 2-16 people, 90 mins north of Dubrovnik on the Peljesac Peninsula in the historic town of Orebic, opposite the island of Korcula. It is 150m from the sea, close to all amenities with wonderful sea & mountain views & 6 mins walk from the beach. The villa is fantastic to rent as whole for a larger group who want an element of privacy & also let as 2/3 self-contained apartments each with separate entrances and privacy. Refurbished in 2005, there are 6 bedrooms, 3 kitchens, 3 bathrooms, 3 dining terraces. The mature garden has areas to sit in sun & shade, with citrus, almond trees & beautiful vines with parking for 2-3 cars. From Villa Lana's slightly elevated position the 1st floor terraces have views over the sea to the island of Korcula & the vineyard immediately next door. Behind, the house is sheltered by historic Mount Ilja and beautiful countryside for walking, cycling & taking in the lovely view.

The villa is set in 500sq m of gardens. The entrance is the main door of the property via a few marble steps. It has been redecorated, refurnished and both the bathroom and kitchen fully refitted in 2005. It has beautiful parquet floors, two spacious twin bedrooms and a large living room providing further accommodation with a double sofa bed and satellite TV. The kitchen is has all modern amenities and a dining area, open plan to the living room area. The living room leads to a large terrace overlooking the garden with citrus trees and a large almond tree providing both sun and shade – perfect for sunbathing or sitting to enjoy a meal or drink and enjoy nightingale song early and late in the day. The attached studio has an open plan living room/bedroom with two double sofa-beds, a bathroom with shower over small bath, kitchenette and dining area and it’s own private courtyard area in the garden, next to the vineyard providing additional privacy for some friends or family members.

Orebic is an attractive developed yet unspoilt town on the beautiful, wine-growing Peljesac Peninsula, with a peaceful, pedestrianised seafront with historic buildings from 17th Century. It offers comprehensive facilities, sandy beaches, many shops, a museum and art collection providing insights on the town's interesting history of sea captains. The historic island of Korcula (birthplace of Marco Polo) can be reached by ferry in 15 minutes. Local restaurants provide Dalmatian food (seafood specialties) and the Peninsula's famous red wines 'Dingac' & 'Postup'. Recreational activities include hiking, excellent cycle paths, windsurfing, sailing, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and pleasant walks in the surrounding countryside. The wonderfully clear sea is highly renowned for scuba diving and snorkelling. Mount St. Elijah (3153 ft) protects Orebic from winter winds and offers fantastic excursions for hikers to the top where you have splendid views over the archipelago of islands

Notes: The accommodation is very flexible. The ground floor without the studio can be rented for 4-6 people (if using living room sofa bed). The studio alone is ideal for 2-4 people. The whole ground floor including the studio provides accommodation for 6-10. There is also a resident tortoise in the garden named 'Pomodore' who is partial to tomatoes, peaches and strawberries! There is an internet cafe 50metres or so from the house.

Flights: British Airways return tickets from Gatwick are priced from £109 including Tax. There are 8 Economy price bands. Croatia Airlines fly from London or Manchester to Dubrovnik. Easyjet are rumoured to start flying to Dubrovnik in the coming year. Sky Europe is another fairly cheap option - and it gives you a chance to spend a day in Bratislava. Once in Bratislava it is very cheap to fly on to Dubrovnik. Ryanair currently the cheapest flight option is to fly to Italy with Ryanair. Ryanair to Ancona on the Italian east coast, then an overnight ferry to Split (and Vis,Hvar or Zadar) (cabins cost from £30 per person)

Car Hire: It is always cheaper to have purchased your car rental in Britain before setting off rather than trying to buy it in Croatia. We have discovered that Holiday Autos offered good rates service for car hire in Croatia. You can pick up the car from Dubrovnik airport and return it at the end of your stay. We have also used a local company Adria Rent who have matched and bettered the Holiday Autos rates – you can negotiate! They have the advantage of having an office in Orebic so you can just rent a car for your journeys and by the day as needed. They can be reached at 00 385 20 437066 or mobile 00 385 98 285 315. Also Thrifty Autos - Tel - 01494 751 600. The drive is stunning and best done in daylight, taking 90-110 minutes. You can also reach Orebic by ferry from Dubrovnik to Korcula island opposite then catch the local ferry across (15 min)

Lovely villa with all amenities you could wish for. Fantastic location close to sea, mountains and all the shops and restaurants. Lovely, unspoilt area with so much to see. We had a wonderful time!

Villa Lana

We had a lovely relaxing time in Croatia. We went as two families (10 altogether) and rented the whole villa. There was ample room for us all and we were able to move the extending dining table out on to the veranda to enjoy evening meals together. Although the weather was very warm in august we were not uncomfortable at night as all rooms were supplied with fans. The property was clean and homely. The downstairs kitchen was very well equipped but you might struggle to make a family meal if you only rent the upstairs part. The beach is only a short walk away but the pool which you are able to use is quite a long hot walk. Our kids loved snorkeling in the sea and catching small fish in nets. Orebic and Korcula are really lovely and we would definitely like to return. We had hoped to visit Dubrovnik but felt the long hot journey was not really worth it so you would be better to visit Dubrovnik before going to Orebic. We had some pleasant meals in the local restaurants- large portions of meat! Not all will take Visa cards though so you need to check if you don't have a lot of cash. The local doctor is quite close if you should need it and she was very helpful when two of our kids needed treatment. The pharmacist however was extremely grumpy and could do with a course in customer relations! All in all a great holiday for families although older teenagers found it a bit quiet.

Wonderful Holiday

Nice Villa in a small, attractive resort sandwiched between the mountains and the sea. Our favourite feature of this apartment was the two balconies, one getting the sun at breakfast and the other in the evening. Amazing garden with lemon, lime, orange, peach and even pomegranite trees.
Lots of places to visit up and down the peninsula, but the best day out was hiring a boat and going over to the island of Korcula with its walled town and sea front restaurants.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit the panorama restaurant with its spectacular views from the mountainside. Family run place with home made food and wine, but requires a trip in advance if you want to book their specialities cooked under the bell'.
Friendly owners and highly recommended.

We had an amazing time in Orebic, the area is fantastic and so much to see and do. The Villa was the perfect base with all the stuff you needed, it is close to shops, restaurants and supermarkets, its not ideal if you want to spend your days at the Villa but absolutely perfect if what you are after is a holiday where you go exploring everyday.

The upstairs balcony is a lovely place for a sundowner at the end of a long day at the beach. And helpfuly they have left tupperware in the cupboards so you can make picnics!

You can walk to the local beach which is miles long or drive to some amazing beaches or walk 5 mins and get on the ferry to Korcula which is very pretty and has beaches near the ferry.

Orebic has the cleanest clearest water and the people are so nice and friendly and the fish so fresh.

A great holiday, will remind you of holidays of your childhood.

We loved it here. The beach was so near. water so clean and everyone so helpful and friendly.
The accommodation is good but a lttle dated in decor and air-conditioning would really make it perfect!
We really hope to go back, but it is a long way to the end of the peninsula, so allow an hour from the end to get there.
Thank you David for all your help and advice before we went and making the booking process so easy.
