Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and Giant Redwoods. From the street you see the covered parking area attached to the house which means you are protected from snow and rain and don't have to climb stairs, a rarity in this mountain area. You don't realize the size and beauty of the home until you step inside and see original paintings and works by famous photographers and the wonderful views from the wall of windows in the great room. The fully equipped kitchen is a joy to work in with its colorful granite countertops, lots of pots and dishes and basic food supplies such as herbs, oil, flour, sugar. There is a barbecue on the deck which has a sunset view and overlooks an animal trail. You may see deer, coyotes or even a bear on the hill below you while enjoying a sunset cocktail.
This home can accommodate up to 12 people. One bedroom is handicapped accessible and has a queen and a twin bed. A second bedroom has a king bed that can be converted to twins and the third bedroom has a queen bed. All linens are provided. There are satellite TVs and DVDs in the great room and all bedrooms. We have wireless, of course! This is a very quiet area with no street lights or traffic but lots of stars.
Enjoy our garden area as you watch our local wildlife: bears, deer, coyotes, a variety of birds and more. Ski in Winter at Badger Pass, only six miles away.
Due to our remote location, and because our home is surrounded by tall sugar pines and cedar trees, it makes it difficult to receive clear signals at times. Our satellite based Internet is vulnerable to adverse weather conditions, therefore we cannot guarantee Internet connectivity during your stay. In addition, our satellite company limits our band width and amount of Gigabits we are allocated by the local internet providers. Because we are on a monthly allowance when the limit is reached our Wi-Fi drops. We request our guests keep their internet usage to a minimum and use it only for emails and a few images at best.
We know this is a lot to ask as the internet is so ubiquitous and almost necessary for a lot of our daily routines in the modern world. Please keep in mind that when you enter Yosemite National Park, in most regards you are leaving the modern world behind.
When our Wi-Fi is down you may be able to find Wi-Fi Internet at the lounge in Curry Village in Yosemite Valley, just a short drive from our location. We are doing our best to provide you with internet service but unfortunately the technology for full service just isn’t available yet in our community. We have been told that another satellite will be launched in 2016 which will add to our Wi-Fi capabilities.

Don Pitts, a retired magistrate judge, held court in Yosemite for over 18 years. His wife, Kay, is an artist specializing in paintings of Yosemite. They built the Falcon's Nest in 1998 next to their home, the Yosemite Peregrine. Kay designed the home and it is filled with original art and photography from some of the best known artists of the area. Kay and Don have hiked and skied every part of Yosemite and were surprised to find they were growing old, with some of the health issues accompanying old age. They currently live in Fresno where they still manage the properties with the able help of Danna Demers, our on-site manager. Danna greets all our guests with warmth and a wealth of information. With many vacation rentals you get a key at check-in and then you're on your own. At the Falcon's Nest you receive complete personal attention from Danna, who lives in the employee apartment downstairs.

Why David chose Yosemite National Park
Yosemite West is a small subdivision of private homes located at 6,000 feet elevation. It is only accessible by entering Yosemite Park. There is no commercial development here and consequently no traffic or crowds. The home is close to Yosemite's 3 major attractions: Yosemite Valley is 10 miles north, Glacier Point is 16 miles east and the Wawona golf course and the Mariposa Grove of giant redwoods are south. Winters bring lots of snow and the home is only 6 miles from Badger Pass ski resort where guests enjoy Nordic and Alpine skiing as well as snowboarding and snowshoeing.
What makes this house unique
The serene location allows guests to enjoy the abundant wildlife. Guests often see coyotes, deer and bears in the garden area drinking from our pond. Many varieties of birds are here and at night the stars are amazing. There are no street lights or traffic to spoil the serenity. Hiking and Nordic ski trails are just outside the door. Those who enjoy art will be amazed at the variety and quality of photography, prints and original paintings which adorn every room.
