Although it has two bedrooms with two full beds and two full bathrooms (one in 1of2 bedroom suites and the other in the hallway) this home has a very large living room where Air Mattresses along with free bed linen may be set up to sleep up to 8 GUESTS, comfortably. The gourmet kitchen is beautifully equipped with stainless steel appliances, crown molding, custom plantation shutters and gleaming hardwood floors. Beautiful spiral staircase leads to the AWESOME Roof Deck where, on a clear day, you can see the Washington Monument. This home is close to to TWO Metro Train Lines (the Green & the Yellow). Also a bus stops directly in front of the home.

The brand new stainless steel appliances, granite counters, crown moldings, high ceilings, a balcony off of one bedroom, custom interior shutters make this an extremely attractive condo/apt home. There is secured parking on the property. The home has large walk in closets with plenty of storage space. The kitchen has very large cabinets for extra storage. It is about 800-900 feet from one Metro Train and about 3 blocks from another metro train line. It is walking distance to The Giant Supermarket, sidewalk cafes, restaurants, BIKE RENTALS, etc. It is also close to shopping. Following are some of the places to shop/eat:

Convenient location, roomy accommodations, responsive owner/management

Our family of 7 was very comfortable in the penthouse condo. The double/queen beds were fantastic. The living room was spacious so there was space for everyone to spread out after a long day of sightseeing. We made use of the kitchen to prepare meals each day and found the kitchen supplies to be adequate. There were plenty of dishes, cups, utensils etc and just enough pots/pans/bowls to prepare simple meals (there was a toaster, blender and microwave as well.) The dining table is very large and comfortably seats 8. The roof deck was a fun bonus. The kids/teens would have loved to hang out up top if the weather had been warmer. You can see the nearest Metro stop from the roof, it is a quick 2 block walk to the Georgia Ave station. We felt safe walking with our kids and had no concerns with the neighborhood as others have mentioned. We parked onsite and found the gated patio to be secure and simple to access.

I knocked off one star because check in still had bumps as other reviewers have indicated. Management was very quick to help out and get us into the unit, but it would be great it there were no bumps to begin with. Other reviewers have mentioned how the place is just clean enough, but not immaculate. I agree, although in talking with management they have indicated they are addressing some of these issues. They sent housekeeping right over to fix my concerns upon arrival.

If you are planning to use the sofa sleepers or blow up mattresses, let management know so they can provide extra bedding as currently what is onsite is inadequate. Also, if you are not good with stairs, this unit is not for you. Try the bottom or middle floor of this condo as all 3 units are rented by the same owner.

One tip we found helpful: we purchased Metro Smartrip cards online for the amount we thought we would use during our stay. We ended up spending much less on the card. If you live 100+ miles outside of the DC area, Metro lets you mail the Smartrip cards back to them and they issue a refund for the unused portion.

Another tip - if you plan to cook your meals: we ordered our groceries online at Harris Teeter. We drove up to their express pick up lane on arrival and received our groceries without leaving the car. We didn't have to spend time wandering around an unfamiliar store or in checkout lines (the Giant store next to the condo has reviews of taking FOREVER to get through checkout).

We would stay here again in the future.

great property...not great neighborhood

The good.....

Very nice property. Secure building, parking area. Spacious apartment, nicely appointed, great outdoor living areas. Plenty of sleeping options..4 queen beds, 2 sleeper sofas and three air mattresses. Heated floors in bathrooms. Three nice flat screen TV's and an awesome dining room table. Very nice kitchen and laundry machines. Good WiFi. Jetted tubs in both baths.

The bad...

Not enough bedding provided. Cleanliness. When we checked in some bedding was not very clean... hairs etc. Also, just not cleaned the way hotels are but that is kind of the norm for vacation rentals. No games, DVD players bring some cards or games. A few things were not as advertised. Although on the VRBO site there are 4 baths listed and described there are actually 2. This is plenty but still not as described. Also, they claim to be close to 2 metro stops... a couple blocks from one and 800-900ft from another... not true. There is one metro station more like six blocks away... definitely walking distance but not 800ft. The neighborhood is right on the edge of rough. A block in one direction are small groceries, restaurants, liquor stores and bars with bars on the windows. Five blocks or so the other direction is where the Giant Supermarket and larger retailers are and that is a better neighborhood. Also, be advised that the parking on site will cost you $10/day. Lastly, access on checkin was a mess but the property manager got there in a few minutes and took care of things.

Overall we had a great trip and really enjoyed the property... in fact it was hard to get the kids to want to leave some days. The metro is easy once you get the hang of it. Buy the releasable Smart Trip cards... they are the best deal by far, with our family of five we went to the National Mall four days and spent $100 on transportation. The only time we used the car was to go to the National Cathedral on Christmas Day.

Bring good walking shoes!

Great experience

Great location, we loved the deck view.

We had 2 families - family of 3 & 4 and we were all comfortable. The heated bathroom floors were a nice feature.

Only downside was to have better shower head in the hall bath to improve water pressure.

The convenient access to the Metro made this a wonderful place to stay while visiting the capital and all the city offers.

Nice apartment on the third floor. There weren't many things we needed in addition to what was provided. The only improvement I would suggest is to provide better instructions on how to initially get into the propriety.

Our family of 5 and my in-laws stayed at this fantastic condo. It was immaculate, everything exactly as pictured and everything was brand new. Incredibly comfortable. A pleasant surprise for us was the 2 sofa beds in the living room, which was an upgrade from airbeds for our children to use.

Would have been 5 stars if a few small details were in place. (wanted 4.5 stars, but I couldn't figure out how to make a .5 star) One bathroom had adequate towel hanging space, the other bathroom had none. (a small one was broken and in the undersink storage) I'd recommend some of the multi-towel hangers available at IKEA, the condo was outfitted nicely with many IKEA items, so that seems an easy fix. Hand towel hangers were not available either. Additionally a toaster in the kitchen would be a good investment as using the oven for toasting was precarious.

The rooftop deck was a family fav as well. Parking SUPER safe and beautiful as well. Oversized dining table was wonderful for meals together.

Truly a clean, comfortable space where we could regroup at the end of each day, get prepared for each day in style and luxury and enjoy some separate space.

Excellent, spacious condo, great location!

I originally booked property #492774, however, a month before our vacation, we found out from the prop mgr that the owner decided to sell the property. Instead of leaving us on our own to look for an alternative, the property mgr offered us properties 574787 & 595107 in exchange for the original property as we had already booked and put in a deposit for #492774. I have to say, these replacement properties exceeded our expectations and were above and beyond the original property we reserved.

The units were fairly new condos, in the same location as the original condo we selected (Petworth), with up-to-date appliances, ample furnishing and supplies, and included all the amenities we needed. Both units had more than enough room to accommodate our party of 8 adults and 3 children. The penthouse condo (574787) had a much larger floor space than the 2nd floor condo (595107) and can easily accommodate 12 people without feeling cramped (2 bedrooms each had 2 double beds, and there were two double sofa beds in the spacious living room). Everything was clean when we arrived. There were small signs of wear and tear (small damages on the walls, a broken blind) but nothing major that adversely impacted our stay.

The unit was in a great location - close to the Metro (Georgia Ave. Petworth Station), with groceries, cafes and restaurants nearby. We were told by friends that the neighborhood was "in transition." Though there were some signs of that in the area, we never felt threatened or unsafe, and the location was fairly quiet. There was a great cafe nearby (The Coupe), a pizza place (Red Rocks) and a Thai restaurant (Sala Thai), among a myriad of other choices. Being a little further out from the main tourist drag, yet still easily accessible to the main attractions, it provided for a more relaxed vacation environment. I'd highly recommend this property to others visiting the DC area!

This home is located within walking distance of two different GREEN Line Metro stops in Columbia Heights There are also several bus lines that run through the area as well.

This neighborhood is a fairly densely populated area of Washington D.C. with loads of foot traffic to include dog walking, bicycling, jogging and families walking. Columbia Heights is also a very developed area of Washington D.C. There is plenty of retail shopping stores in the area in addition to the iconic Tivoli Theater. There is the famous 'Capitol Share' Bike Station, located within close proximity, in front of the Giant Grocery Stores. The 'Capitol Share' provides bikes for rent. There are loads of sidewalk cafes, bars and restaurants not only in Columbia Heights but also in nearby Adams Morgan and U Street Corridor which makes this neighborhood popular. Columbia Heights is arguably Washington's most economically diverse neighborhood where real estate is varied, composed of mostly high-priced condominiums and very little lower income housing.
