About Carolyn (Susie) Rumsfeld
Originally from San Antonio, TX, I moved to New Orleans in 1999 when I married my college sweetheart, Jim. My friends and family call me Susie. I work full-time in the legal industry, but I like to balance it out with operating our little B&B. My passions are early morning runs, browsing through antique shops, really good Mexican food, and a glass of Cabernet.
I love the fact that I live in a city where everyone else wants to spend their vacation, and I also love the fact that we can offer our cottage to our guests to make that vacation a memorable one!

Why Carolyn (Susie) Rumsfeld chose New Orleans
Jim fell in love with the main house because of the black & white floors. I fell in love with the 1900 Victorian architecture, and knew I had found the perfect home for my antiques. We are one of the very few in the neighborhood to have a private driveway -- a huge plus. Most all of the homes around us are over 100 years old.
We decided to build a deck and guesthouse in our backyard after Hurricane Katrina when it was proven that our neighborhood was worth keeping. We were among 10 percent of the city that did not flood. And today our city has come back stronger and more prosperous than ever. We named our little getaway 'Ginny's Cottage' after Jim's mom who insisted on staying out there whenever she'd come for a visit. And our little cottage has continued to be a perfect retreat for friends, family, and strangers alike!
What makes this cottage unique
There are so many great things unique to this location. We are walking distance to St. Charles Ave. and the streetcar line. We're four short blocks to Magazine St. with all of its restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Audubon Zoo and park are less than two miles away. The famous Prytania movie theater, which is the last surviving privately owned single-screen theater is less than a mile from the house. And during Mardi Gras, we are literally ground zero, where the parades roll two short blocks from our front gate. And yet, when you enter our property and walk through the private gate to the back to 'Ginny's Cottage' and the pool and spa, you are completely removed from it all and surrounded with total privacy. Who could ask for anything more?
