Serene & cozy 700 ft.² artist studio on magical Bowen Island in Deep Bay with full bath & full kitchen. A beautiful 5-7 min walk from ferry, past picturesque lagoon & stunning view of Howe Sound Mountains. Killarney Lake nature trails at your doorstep.
Our cozy self-contained suite is on the bottom floor of our three bedroom home complete with windows overlooking 'the rock.' This eco-friendly home has in-floor radiant water heat, so it's cozy in cool times, and because it's carved into rock, it stays remarkably naturally cool on hot days. It's an allergy-friendly space with a queen size memory foam bed along with a pull out couch with lovely bedding in the living room. This is the artist studio for wildlife photographer Dennis Nault, so you'll see and enjoy his amazing work on the walls.
Guest Access includes: Full wifi access, satellite TV on a large HD TV w/ DVD player and great selection of movies, guitar, and backgammon/chess table.
Our space is perfect for those that want a R&R experience, go at their own pace and have much privacy or some interaction with us. Our family lives on the two floors above this artist suite. We're a fun-loving, early-to-bed and early-to-rise, nature-focused family, with a passion for heritage chickens (you are welcome to feed them with our seven year old who gives fun tours if you should like) and are organic gardening food enthusiasts and homeschool our respectful son. No smoking and no pets please. Happy to give highlights of special things to do and see on our lovely island and there is a full resource manual made available to you when you arrive.
Deep Bay is a peaceful and conveniently located neighbourhood right beside Snug Cove (where all visitors arrive, whether by ferry or water taxi or float plane). Friendly neighbours, lots of fruit trees, chickens, picturesque flowers, honey-making bees (we share two hives with dear neighbour) and hummingbirds. Squirrels, the occasional deer, and other wildlife seen daily.
Staying here you are also at a beautiful walking distance to all the Cove restaurants and shops, and on the hiking trails to Killarney Lake and beyond. Very short drive, if you take your car and easy and quick access if you choose to be on foot.
We have a large garden out front, always open to extra hands to play and weed in the dirt, should you be so inspired. Inside, all windows have screens, so you will sleep with fresh air but enjoy the fact that the bugs (for the most part) happily stay outside. Full kitchen makes it easy to prepare your own meals whenever you want and there are two small grocery stores (our General Store and The Ruddy, our natural food store) less than an easy 15 minute walk away. Kids, and big kids, alike will love Pebbly Beach on Deep Bay a 5 minutes stroll from us, or the Fish Ladder on the lagoon around the corner in the forest. Lots of fresh wild berries, seasonally available, including tons of blackberries late in the summer.
Come and see why visitors call this tiny island just twenty minutes from Vancouver 'Magical Bowen Island'.
