Bright, stylish 57 sq. meter apartment is located steps from the bustling Marais district. Located on the second floor of a 19th century building with elevator, original parquet floors, tall Parisian windows, and warm colored walls and furnishings, make this a pleasant and convenient base for exploring all Paris has to offer.
The open dining/living room has a sofa bed sleeping two, glass coffee table, a small Parisian café table by the windows, and dining table seating six.
The kitchen has a window facing the courtyard, tile floor, bright red cabinets. Well-equipped with a washer/dryer combo, refrigerator with a freezer, traditional oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and all the cookware and dishes that are needed for a hassle-free stay. There is also a desk in the entry area, WIFI, phone with free domestic and international calls to fixed lines, flat screen cable TV, DVD player, and stereo.
The apartment has two bedrooms, each of which can sleep 2. The living room sofabed sleeps two.
Overall we were very happy with this apartment during our 5 day stay. After some initial issues with wi-fi and the television everything was fine. Very close to metro, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and shops. Comfortable surroundings and a good soft beds. We did find the kitchen, bathroom and toilet a tad small. Our biggest issue was the noise coming from the two bars located outside the bedrooms - seems like no one ever sleeps in Paris!!
We were very happy with this apartment in Paris! The location was fantastic, the apartment was very comfortable and well appointed and the owner and local contact in Paris so helpful. We loved the neighborhood bars and cafes and there is a grocery store (Bio C Bon) about 2 blocks from the apartment to stock up on a few essentials. The metro and bus stops directly in front of the building so getting around is extremely convenient once you get the metro and bus routes down. We stayed 5 nights but would love to have stayed longer!!
We were two couples who shared the apartment and as per the other reviewers we found it a charming property and having a metro stop outside the door was a bonus. The apartment and the furniture were clean and tidy and the kitchen very well fitted out. The apartment though does need some attention to the parquetry flooring and the shower drain.
Booking the apartment with Gregory was easy and trouble free though unlike other reviewers we didn't see the apartment manager, Sabine. Unfortunately we only spoke with her by phone when we were leaving and the lady and son whom we dealt with, though very nice, couldn't speak any English and as our French is of the tourist variety we used sign language to figure out how to use the clothes washer etc.
Other reviewers mentioned the noise from the street below the bedrooms - there are now 3 bars that operate on and off through the week until 1-2am and though the double glazing on the windows is excellent if you are a light sleeper or if you have booked during summer you may need ear plugs at times.
I would recommend the apartment for all its positive aspects of location, location, cleanliness, charming furniture and spaciousness of the living and bedroom areas and of course the very well fitted out little kitchen.
My mother, sister, and I stayed in this apartment for a week in May 2014. We were very pleased with the building, the apartment, and the location.
The apartment itself is great. It was the perfect size for the three of us. The apartment is clean, the beds are comfortable, and we didn't experience any problems with noise. The kitchen is small but works great for what we needed, which was to make coffee, light meals, and reheat leftovers. One of our favorite features in the apartment was the small balcony. It is great to go out on it in the morning or evening to people watch and get some fresh air.
The apartment has wifi, cable TV, and a lot of amenities that you'd find in hotels (iron and ironing board, hairdryers, umbrellas, etc.). There is a landline telephone where you can call other landlines around the world for free (just not cell phones), so it's great for calling home. It also is in a secure building that has a locked lobby and a (tiny!) elevator up to the 2nd floor (3rd American floor), where the apartment is located.
The best part of the apartment is the location. It is in the Marais, which is a wonderful trendy residential neighborhood with cafes, bars, shops, upscale boutiques, and beautiful streets for walking around. It is not overrun with tourists and gives you a genuine feeling of living in Paris!
There is a pharmacy two doors down, a friendly cafe right next door, and a boulangerie right across the street. There is a Carrefour grocery store a few blocks away. Walk over to Rue de Bretagne for fantastic specialty food shops and bistros. You can easily walk to Pere LaChaise Cemetery, Place des Voges, and Notre Dame, but the Filles du Calvaire metro station is right outside the front door, which makes getting around Paris so easy.
Our favorite restaurants in the area are Page 35, La Vache Acrobate, and Les Philosophes. The cafe next door is great for a coffee, a quick lunch, or a beer in the evening.
Gregory was very helpful in booking the property and Sabine is a friendly and capable property manager. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to have a comfortable, unique experience in the City of Light!
This is a wonderful place to stay in Paris! The location is perfect! There are plenty of local bistros nearby. A Picard store is directly across the street that sells prepared frozen foods which are very good and I highly recommend. A short walk from the apartment is a Monoprix for grocery shopping. We loved having the metro stop directly outside the door...a definite plus! The beds were very comfortable and the layout of the apartment was very spacious. The kitchen is very small by American standards, but quite functional and adequately equipped. I was able to prepare breakfast each morning and also cooked our Christmas dinner. Our only issue was trying to figure out how to operate the washer/dryer combo as no instructions were provided. Mr. Shideler and Madame Gebrael were wonderful to work with as well! If I ever get to return to Paris I would definitely like to stay here again! I highly recommend!
My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in the beginning of January and loved every moment! The apartment is located on the edge of the Marais neighborhood, and is about a 20 minute walk (through a beautiful area) to the Notre Dame. A metro stop is literally right outside the front door to the apartment, which was so, so nice we when arrived and late at night when we had walked around all day and were tired.
I would say the apartment was better than the pictures show. It was more spacious, and the kitchen was very well equipped. The property manager is also lovely, and very very flexible. We were able to stay in the apartment until late afternoon when our flights left. There is wi-fi access and a ton of new guidebooks on Paris, as well as a running notebook with info that the owners and other guests have added to.
One recommendation that you MUST follow if you are looking for a good place for dinner. On our last night we went to a restaurant called La Pharmacie, not more than a 10 minute walk from the apartment. This was by far the best dinner experience we had in Paris. Because it wasn't in a very touristy area (but still very nice!), the restaurant had a relaxed, cozy and natural feel. Our waiters were so much fun, and the food was just amazing. Get the duck! Also, a very reasonable price for such delicious food.
I would stay here again in a second when we come back to Paris.
