Grown siblings that have spent our childhood vacationing on the island for 20+ years. We decided to purchase our own place for our families to enjoy.
Kari Keuter purchased this townhome in 2013
Too many memories to not pass down and share this with others (sshhhh....) still want it somehow to be the greatest secret to paradise. (Return visitors preferred!)
Few people, old florida, unspoiled without the high rises and commercialism. Most islanders live there and others make it their second home. Turtles are sacred and so are the beaches:)
We stayed here for our 5 year anniversary with our son! It was amazing! It was so nice to let our three year old run on the secluded beach and not have to worry about things that come with things that come with little ones on big, public beaches. It was also nice to be able to come and go to the beach as we needed since we were so close to it. Staying in a large hotel and having to go all the way up to your floor if your forget or need something can be exhausting. This was perfect. We made our own dinners on the large, updated kitchen and ate them on the screened on patio overlooking the beach. The pool is right outside of the condo and we fished off the inlet only a short walk away. We loved shelling and came home with beautiful, while shells! We even found some shark teeth too! The home is beautifully decorated and updated. We loved that there were chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys on site, as these are hard to pack when traveling and definitely come in handy. It was also nice to have the kitchen to make our own food and a washer and dryer so we didn't have to worry about laundry after we go home. Our son also loved having his own "fish themed" room. We noticed that this was the only property in this group of condos that have a sliding glass door off of the master bedroom. This was definitely a plus for us. We loved leaving the door open at night and listening to the waves. We will definitely be back!
My wife, four children (ages 6-11) and I spent Spring Break 2015 on Don Pedro Island. It was our first visit. This was our most enjoyable family vacation to date!
The condo is in wonderful condition. The kitchen is loaded with nearly every utensil necessary to prepare our meals. There was more than enough space to comfortably accommodate our family of six.
Access to and views of the Gulf are exceptional; the condo is just steps from the beach! When they weren't in the Gulf or collecting shark teeth on the beach, my children spent hours each day in the heated pool and fishing in the lagoon behind the condo.
Kari (the condo owner) was a pleasure to work with. From booking the condo to answering our questions about the property and island, Kari always responded in a timely, professional and personal manner.
Within days of our arrival on DPI, we decided to book the condo for Spring Break 2016. My family cannot wait to return!
I had never been to Don Pedro Island and spent 3 nights with wife and daughters (9, 11). What an awesome place. Very few people on the beach. Awesome beach, shell collecting. Very quiet at night. Saw a dolphin in front of condo, The unit seemed to be recently updated. We hope to return again for a longer stay.
This owner has gone to every length to furnish this unit with all the comforts of home. We've rented here several times as well as many other units in the "Colony". This is by far the most well furnished unit from the bedding to the pots and pans...and it is our first choice in the rentals there. If you do choose to rent this unit...TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT.... we are so fortunate that this owner takes care of us and this home for all of us to enjoy. We've already booked our next trip....can't wait to get back!
We have visited the island before, this condo is the nicest by far. It's well decorated and has great views.
Unfortunately we were not greeted with toiletries at ALL. No soap, shampoo toilet paper was running low. Luckily we came prepared. This was not the renters fault because they pay someone to do that for them but they didn't.
Over all, I would go back and hopefully the renter addressed the minor situation.
The beach is SOOOOOOOO close and beautiful. I spent all day there and the children loved the island too.
My family of six have stayed at Don Pedro island, Gasparilla and in the vicinity for several years. Don Pedro is a wonderful place to stay with young kids. Beach is quiet, sand is great, water in very comfortable, and the people are friendly. This particular unit is right on the beach. It doesn't get any closer than this. You can watch the kids at the beach while sitting on the porch.
We had a wonderful time. The unit is comfortably decorated with enough amenities. I found everything clean and well maintained. The booking process was easy and friendly and the management was very accommodating.
I have already recommended this place to friends and will probably stay there again.
I would have given 5 stars except for two issues. I would have preferred an additional couch in the living room to lounge on. Couch space was at a premium.
And i would have preferred comcast cable. The unit has Hughes Net satellite at the lowest tier of service. Not bad for browsing the web, but during the rainy times in the middle of summer when you want to crash on the couch with the family and watch netflix, the service is slow and because of the rain the satellite signal gives out. We ended up streaming video from our ATT cell phone/hotspot.
Other than that, its paradise. It is old Florida tranquility that has not been touched by the commercialization that has ruined many paradises throughout the state.
We took a walk along the beach at midnight to see if the baby turtles were hatching, the kids did some midnight fishing. And definitely look up Dennis at Castaway Rentals, he has the best deals on paddle boards and kayaks.
I would recommend a minimum of 4 nights. The third day is always when you start to unwind...
