Hilo House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 2.5 bathroom with natural stream, owner does't live on the property

Experience what makes living in Hilo so special! Located on a cul-de-sac in a quiet residential neighborhood at 780 ft above Hilo Town. This recently renovated and newly furnished island home is close to the farmer market, shops and restaurants of downtown Hilo. The house is conveniently located for exploring many points of interest on the island, you will have easy access to Saddle Road and Mauna Kea State Park. Volcano National Park is 40 minutes away, and Akaka Falls is a mere 15 minutes drive. Boiling Pots and Rainbow Falls State Park are within walking distance.

At 780 feet elevation you will enjoy tropical breezes during the day, refreshingly cool night temperatures and a spectacular view of Hilo's star-studded night sky.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a private full bathroom, 2 bedrooms have queen size beds which share a full bathroom. A Half bath is located on the lower level. Each bedroom has large closets with built-in dressers and bookshelves offering ample room for unpacking and storing your personal belongings and suitcases during your stay. This calm and relaxing home has mahogany floors and softly white-washed redwood walls throughout. The living and dining areas connect to a breezeway with a view of a zen-style garden and natural stream, which winds its way around the property's established trees and lava rock. Multiple Japanese accents such as a deep, Furo tub gives the house a distinctive character.

Fall asleep and awaken to the peaceful sounds of birds and gently running stream. Sip your coffee on the porch overlooking the winding stream. Plan an excursion in Hilo or a day long adventure. With a two car garage, fully-equipped kitchen, and washer/dryer, you will have all the amenities for whatever type of stay you envision.

About Malinee

I was born and raised in the big city of Bangkok, Thailand. I went to college in the U.S. The first time I came to Hilo, Hawaii I was fascinated by the slow-pace, the tropical fruits, nice cool weather and the friendliest of people here. Hilo became my hometown. I can find lots of fresh exotic fruit from Asia like Rambutan, Lychee, Longan, Durian, Mangosteen and etc. Luckily we do not have snakes! Hopefully, you will love my hometown like I do.

Malinee purchased this house in 2013

Why Malinee chose Hilo

I fell in love with the house which was built by a Japanese craftsman. It is spacious with a nice kitchen and dinning area. I have had great fun refurbishing it. The view of the stream from the house is spectacular. I know that you will enjoy it as well.

What makes this house unique

We love the natural stream and would like to share the relaxing and the soothing sound of the brook with everyone. You will be able to unwind from your busy days as the property is very quiet, relaxing and comfortable.

Not to be missed! Best "home base" for exploring the island!

Not to be missed! Best "home base" for exploring the island!

Home well prepared as vacation rental. Roomy and comfortable for all 7 of us. Fantastic landscaping with gorgeous stream running through the property. The backyard was perfect for a picnic. Our kids caught small fish and crawfish in the backyard - catch & release :)

Quiet and peaceful neighborhood, on a dead-end street, yet super easy commute to downtown Hilo. We found this location perfect as a home base for exploring the island. The "saddle" road between Hilo and Kona (KOA airport) is finally finished making a wide easy road to travel. Anyone who braves California freeways will find the trip quick and easy.

Weather was normal for Hilo, with sun for some or most of every day, yet pleasant warm rains fun to play in. So much nicer than the too hot and too dry Kona side of the island. Altitude was excellent, and factoring in the scarcity of mosquitoes made this Hilo home much preferred over other locations we've visited.

Just as other reviewers mentioned, our exemplary hostess was so friendly and helpful that our kids began calling her "Auntie" :)

Our only regret was how fast two weeks zipped by. Looking forward to our next trip, especially now that we don't have to hunt for a vacation rental.

Great Place to stay for vacation!

  • 5 of 5
This house is a great place to stay for vacation, or even for extended stay. The homeowners are very helpful, friendly and welcoming to Hawaii. If we needed anything, they were there to help. The location is great and the view is spectacular. The home is very open spaced and is decorated nicely. I would recommend staying in this home to any of my friends and family, and if I were to go back to Hilo, I would rent from them again!
