About Michael Allen and Lori Kaler
My family is from Rhode Island and I had the great fortune to grow up in Jamestown. When my family house was sold we kept a portion of the land and I designed and built this house. It is a very special house to my family but unfortunately our careers have not allowed us to reside in this lovely home. We currently live in Washington DC and like to visit at least every 2-3 months.
Michael Allen and Lori Kaler purchased this house in 1998
Why Michael Allen and Lori Kaler chose Jamestown (Conanicut Island)
We put a lot of love in this home. It is traditional shingle style house modeled after the beautiful work of Stanford White. Light is very important to me and you will see that if you visit. My mother loved hydrangeas and they are quite plentiful (and beautiful) on the property. The location is in the Dumplings neighborhood. There is 360 degree bay/ocean views from rooftop deck. It is a most relaxing and scenic home. Jamestown is a quaint town with Newport just minutes away. My family is a family of water dwellers and Jamestown is great for sailors, boaters, or just admirers of the sea.
What makes this house unique
Greathouse is in close proximity to ocean beaches, numerous sailing, tennis, golf and yacht venues, the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and the World class/America's Cup competitive sailing venue. Also in nearby historic Newport there are numerous summer and winter festivals including the famous Newport Jazz Festival, Gilded Age mansions, world famous Ocean Drive and cultural activities.
This is a great house for family gatherings. We often sit at the dining room table playing games, relax on the various porches to watch the sun set, walk to the Dumplings dock and beach, or walk or bike into town for breakfast at The Slice of Heaven. Jamestown really is a slice of heaven. Come see for yourself.
