The cottage is a traditional Bretagne longere some 200 years old, with original exposed oak beams and thick stone walls. This spacious detached french holiday cottage is situated in the perfect spot to explore the beautiful landscape of Brittany. Its large and well equipped kitchen-dining room and lounge complete with cosy fireplaces lend rustic charm. Downstairs you will find a large beamed living area with wood burning stoves.
The kitchen dining room is well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge freezer, full sized oven with hob and grill. Leading from this is a shower room and toilet. The washing machine and the tumble drier are located in the shower room. Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms, a master double bedroom, a single and a twin bedded room. A cot is available on request as is an additional bed if required. There is also a good sized bathroom with a bath, a toilet and wash basin. Linen is included in the rental price.
Outside to the side and rear is a garden shaded by walnut trees leading to a small orchard, to the front of the house is a private terraced patio and gravel courtyard leading upto another large grassed area. You can choose to sit in the garden under the dappled shade of the walnut trees or on the patio and make the most of the warm evening sun perhaps enjoying a barbeque. The farmhouse is set back from a quiet road down a small track with its own drive way. A good range of shops and restaurants can be found in nearby Guéméne-sur-scorff, whilst for a greater choice head for the historic town of Pontivy with its historic centre and huge medieval castle. Or visit the nearby town of Rostrenen with an attractive open market spread along its streets. Enjoy the Brittany country side with its forests, lakes, chapels and canals. Take leisurely riverside walks and picnics or take a daytrip to the south coast with its superb sandy beaches and coastal paths.
Brittany has excellent countryside for those looking to walk in gently undulating hills through a rural landscape. The scenic lake of Guerlédan surrounded by a huge forest is close by, where you can enjoy walking cycling canoeing, windsurfing, fishing , and swimming. Alternatively, why not take a stroll down one of the many green lanes and tracks that lead from La Madeleine, and see the wildlife in a landscape of meadows. You can expect to see buzzards soaring over head and hawks hunting in the long grass of the fields, you may well see the occasional fox or pine martin. We do not have a standard booking week, so please pick dates the number of nights that suit your holiday requirements. St Tugdual is 2 mile away, it has a small shop that sells food and basic provisions, it also has a bar and a bar/restaurant. The village of Ploerdut is 4 miles away, it has a few small shops, one a bakers and one a butchers where you can also buy basic provisions, it also has a two bars and a creperie
