A sweet property by the Stockbridge Bowl, Interlaken Cottage.
We took a 1950's cottage in a superb location and gut renovated it to create a luxurious and romantic hideaway for two. A place for quiet inspiration where you can enjoy the outdoors all day and world-class music and theater in the evenings.
Inside this jewel box cottage find a large great room with high ceilings, a queen-sized bed, gas fireplace, air conditioning, and loft with a 7' ceiling great for yoga, music study and a desk perfect for writing, thinking or working (if you must).
The house is equipped with high-speed internet, cable TV, Apple TV and a Sonos system. The house has its own iPad for your use while visiting.
The spacious screened living room is fully furnished to entertain or just kick back. You’ll also find an outdoor gas grill, a canoe and more.
The well-appointed kitchen has granite counters, Sub-Zero with ice maker, cook top, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher and is well supplied with utensils in case you want to prepare a meal. We have a Nespresso machine, Krups coffee maker, and an electric tea kettle. We include Nespresso pods, Depot 6 coffee (regular and decaf) and PG Tips tea. We're serious about our caffeine!
In the pantry you'll find organic granola, snacks and nuts. We'll stock your favorite soft drinks too!
The bathroom has been created with soothing gray stone, glass tile and white marble with an extra large shower. Find soap, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, and toothpaste.
The all new furnishings and finishes feature pieces from Restoration Hardware and local favorite Pine Cone Hill while also incorporating some sturdy antiques, art and other touches of comfort. The look and feel is inspired by our travels to serene, five star hotels all over the world.
Interlaken Cottage is air conditioned and heated so you can be assured you’ll be comfortable whatever the weather.

Your Hosts, Jessica and Peter
Both born in Brooklyn, we lived in Manhattan for many years before settling in Stockbridge in 2011. Peter is a graphic designer and Jess produces large corporate business events. Our interests include art, music, great food and the outdoors making the Berkshires an ideal place to live.
Peter Pouridas purchased this cottage in 2012
We live walking distance to this property but our house does not have a screened porch or lake access. Jess walks for exercise and a favorite route is 'The Lake route' which takes her past this house. It was a rather sad looking place when she first saw it as it had not been lived in for a few years. Though it had no screen porch, it did have lake access and loads of potential so we decided to take it on as a renovation project. We now entertain on the screen porch, use the private community lake access right across the street for our canoe and house overflow guests. You'd never guess how many people want to come to visit the Berkshires!
The screened living room is a wonderful place to wile away the afternoon reading and an excellent place for cocktails and dinner before Tanglewood.
My boyfriend and I spent four days (three nights) at this cottage for my birthday this year. We could not have picked a more perfect location. Jess and Peter thought of absolutely everything; the cottage was as well appointed (if not moreso) than any hotel we've ever stayed in. In our short time there, it quite literally came to feel like a home away from home -- stocked kitchen, Netflix, cozy fireplace. When we weren't lazing about the cottage, we cashed in on many of our hosts' great local recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing, including a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum (thanks for sharing the passes!).
We're not normally the type to gush, so please take nothing we're saying here as hyperbole: This place really is as great as it sounds.
My wife and I spent three days of quiet seclusion at this wonderful cottage in celebration of our tenth wedding anniversary. Having returned home just yesterday, these thoughts I am happy to share with those in the throes of making their own vacation plans.
Jess and Peter have expressed a masterful attention to detail. They exhibit an amazing ability to consider a myriad of possibilities ultimately providing those things which allow their guests to enjoy a time away, ensconced in comfort and quality.
From delicious chocolates to fresh apples to organic honey granola, coffee and tea..., to a very well appointed kitchen, very comfortable bed, to an ipod allowing for command of the music of your choice and enhancing your pleasurable time at home.
When you venture out, a thoughtful itinerary of recommended spots is provided as well as money saving passes to a number of museums and gardens. So nice though, to return to the cottage. The privacy and quiet is just what we were looking for.
I echo the sentiments of other guests when I say that I look forward, with great anticipation, to our next visit.
You cannot go wrong staying in this ideally situated, lovingly restored cottage. We could not believe our luck in finding such a slice of heaven...the cottage has every little amenity imaginable - from the well-stocked kitchen and plush bedding to the gorgeous bath and the cozy porch. We loved the ambiance supplied by high-tech with low-visibility. Intimate accommodations that feel spacious and inviting, and are tastefully decorated. Super romantic!
We had a great time making the most of the area - Lenox had a festival going, we shopped for antiques, went to a country fair at the Shaker Museum, and the highlight was definitely Peter and Jess' suggestion for dinner and drinks at Brava. We took the canoe out on the lake too, and later, while my husband napped, I enjoyed the coffee table books - it was, all in all, a lovely weekend. Had stunning weather, but almost wished for rain so we could hear it on the metal roof!
Thanks, Jess and Peter. Almost don't want to share this best-kept secret with others!! Loved the cottage, and we will definitely be back.
We stayed at this cottage over Labor Day this year, and it was hard to tear us away at the end of the weekend! The cottage was incredibly cozy, with a delightful screened in porch where we spent many hours. The kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are gorgeous--recently renovated and high-end all the way. The property is right near a lake, and we used their canoe and went for a hike. The hosts had also arranged for reservations to restaurants and tickets to area attractions including theater tickets after a phone consultation in advance about our hopes for the trip!
We had a wonderful time staying in Peter and Jessica's cottage. It's located in the heart of the Berkshires, close to everything, but driving down the wooded lane with the lake across the street and no other homes right next door make it feel remote and secluded. The cottage is very comfortable, modern, stocked with necessities, and more than relaxing. Peter & Jessica provided a binder with information on the area, shopping, restaurants, venues, excursions, attractions, and recommendations. They have annual passes to many of the different attractions that you can use. We used the passes to the Berkshire Botanic Gardens and the Normal Rockwell museum. Just using those passes saved us over $50! We'll have to use the other passes when we come back.
My husband loved the lake and used the cottage canoe to paddle around in the mornings. I enjoyed drinking the delicious coffee provided on the screened in porch while listening to nothing but nature. We could not be more pleased with our experience. Also, the cabin was very clean, which is an absolute must for me, and the bed was oh so comfortable. This cottage is the perfect retreat nestled in the Berkshires.
My wife and I stayed at this cottage for a week in late July/ early August this year (2014). The owners are extremely customer-oriented and have great taste. When we had a question, the owners volunteered to come over immediately. The cottage is "spic-and-span" clean and is in a fantastic location. Also, the cottage was well-stocked w/ essentials.
The cottage has a very large -- and very light-filled -- living room / bedroom, a small kitchen, a bathroom, and a large screened porch (where we often ate and read). When the weather is sunny and/or warm, there is plenty of room for two people because of the sun porch. The porch is a wonderful place to spend time.
The only (and I stress the word "only") "critical" comment that I could possibly make is that, if the weather is not good for an extended period (i.e., heavy rain, cold for multiple days), one doesn't use the screened porch, and so the cottage can seem small after a few days of bad weather.
