This detached stone built property, with private courtyard, believed to date from the 16th Century, is situated within the quiet rural village of St. Germain-Source Seine, close to the source of the river Seine. The house contains many period features (e.g. 2 large stone fireplaces, 1 with large bread-oven, stone staircase, fromagerie) and has been tastefully renovated and modernised to include oil-fired central heating. There is a large lounge which includes a dining area, it has a flagstone floor, wood burning stove, There is Wi-Fi access,English and French TV, DVD Player, and Hi-Fi. The kitchen/diner has halogen hob, extractor hood, oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer in the barn, which can also provide off-road parking for at least 2 large cars. It has 2 double bedrooms, and 2 single bedrooms.

The house is situated in a small farming community, surrounded by open countryside and ancient forests, with many Burgundian attractions nearby, its position is ideal for visiting; Flavigny-Sur-Ozerain (famous as the setting for the film 'Chocolat') Alise St. Reine (highest point in Burgundy) Abbey De Fontenay (a world heritage site) Vezeley, Dijon, Beaune, and of course our own village's attraction; the source of the River Seine. For those of you that love the outdoors and nature, you could easily spend much of your time walking, mountain biking, or running around the village and surrounding area, the views are wonderful and wildlife abound. For those interested in wine, some of the world's most famous vineyards are easily accessible, and many lesser known but equally appealing Domaines are keen to welcome you and share the fruits of their labours with you. There are a number of local markets where you can buy fresh local produce, and these are held on various days during the week.

La Source is a wonderfully presented, luxury property which has retained all of its old world charm whilst being exceptionally comfortable and homely.

Anne and Shaun have filled this property with lots of interesting and tasteful objects offering a wonderful mix of the old and the new.

La Source is a truly magical and very special property in which to stay, relax and enjoy! It makes for an excellent base from which to explore this beautiful part of rural Burgundy, and I would definitely return….

We have been in la source this summer,and we have had agreat time there.The owners take care of every single detail of the house,which is very clean and well-maintained.The property is in a very little village but is near many interesting and tourist places;information you can find in the owners`s web page as well as in the house where you find a lot of brochures and maps which help you with the activities,attractions and even restaurants of the area.It´s the perfect place to rest after visit the tourist places.We not only recomend the place but also we would like to come back again.

It was a pleasure having spent our holidays in this tastefull renovated house, neatly located in a green landscape. Even if you have cultural highlights everywhere around- waiting for you to be visited-, you will enjoy
coming back. That's because you're feeling, being at home very soon and this is maybe the best compliment. And its not only from me: The whole familiy, including 3 teenagers, who are not easy to impress an to satisfy, liked that place very much. Thank You.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week away in the heart of Burgundy in this lovely detached gite situated very close to the source of the River Seine.
After a long sunny day exploring the beautiful countryside surrounding this lovely gite, it was nice to return to the peaceful secluded walled garden for some local wine and home cooked food from the fully equipped kitchen and breakfast room, it even has a dish washer.
Shaun and Ann have provided all the comforts of home; each room is tastefully decorated and the lounge area has a huge fireplace and wood burner.
All the comforts of home in grand french style !

Relaxing time in Burgundy

We've just returned from a really relaxing break in Burgundy staying at St. Germain Source Seine and would recommend it to anyone looking for a break in Burgundy.

The gite has everything you could possibly want when staying away from home, including two bathrooms, which was ideal as there were four of us.

The gite is sited in a small hamlet in the countryside but is still within easy reach of locals tons including Dijon.

There are excellent opportunities to taste and purchase local produce, in particular wine and cheese. And there are some quality restaurants nearby.

Shaun and Annie were friendly hosts, it was almost like meeting up with old friends again.

The roads were a pleasure to drive on and we ca't wait to return.
